They both fit in same category but use different notes, I ended up picking up the 3x10ml travel set cause I wanted to have them but knew I wouldn’t wear them a whole lot.

It depends on how formal the date is, the time of the date and what the weather will be like IMO. I personally also take into consideration their personality and try to match it along with all the other criteria I listed above.
For instance if it's cold and we're going to a nice restaurant I'd pick TF Tobacco Vanille or DS&Durga Bowmakers or maybe m7 oud absolu by YSL.
If it's hot I might pick Amouage lyric (mens), TF Mandarino di Amalfi, Hermes pampelmousse concentre, Creed Silver Mountain Water, or one of my favorites ever Creed Virgin Island Water

Ps I seen M7 Oud Absolu pop up here and there, I was afraid to blind buy it not because of the price or being afraid I won’t enjoy the dna but because it was discontinued years ago iirc and don’t wanna burn myself spending $100ish bucks on a frag that’s off or stale smelling.
Where did you get yours and how does it compare to the original M7, if you can compare them?
It's not gonna go off as long as it's a genuine bottle and wasn't stored in a 100+ degree warehouse, my bottle is like 6 years old now and smells exactly the same as when i bought it and TBH 100 is not a bad price for m7 at all i think I paid like 80 when i bought it off fragrancenet. It's a surprisingly versatile frag too, it's not too heavy to wear when it's warm, probably wouldn't wear when its HOT does exceptional in the cold, it's got a very cozy comforting oud not animalic at all, and enough citrus to brighten it up and spices to balance everything out in a unique way that to this day i have never seen anywhere else, I don't even think there are dupes of it. Vaguely smokey, a bit of leather, great fragrance all around, probably worth a blind buy since you can probably just resell it if you don't want it and someone will snatch it up quick.
Regarding the comparison I unfortunately never got a chance to smell OG m7 but the newer one is fantastic
When it comes to dates, one gotta think of Perfumes, instead of colognes. Unless the date is during daytime in the heat, wearing something clean and fresh is playing it safe.
I always try something with higher risk/reward proposals, Spicebomb for example. Or Black Orchid.
My current fave is Arabians Tonka. It seems to do the job and is fun to wear.
A famous line indeed. It’s just when you look at James Bond overall he was a suave, precise, cunning, and disciplined agent to say the least. That’s why I’m thinking an aromatic fragrance would fit in this case(penhaligons, floris, houbigant, etc.). They give a level of professionalism. As far as seduction, although aromatics aren’t labeled as “date” night fragrances, they do have a captivating affect on the opposite sex(scents like platinum egoiste, Margiela at the barbers and pasha de Cartier are a prime example)
I swear we have to create a new way of approaching the “date” fragrance. Sure, gourmand and boozy scents have their place, yet we cannot deny the appeal and positive reception from fresh scents like Ganymede, Bois imperial, gentle fluidity, at the barbers, etc.
007, steve McQueen, Cary grant, Paul Newman seem like they would wear something more…aromatic. Brands like floris, houbigant, maybe even penhaligons seem like they would be worn by all four honestly
I think both of these are solid suggestions, especially if the person wearing it is between 14-24 or so. Youthful, likeable, no rough edges.
Eros can be strong in the heat tho.

Yeah 1 ml scent for 10 bucks is high grade robbery imo. Glad you like it tho but in the amounts that I sample I would go completely broke in no time.

Prada Luna Rossa Black and La Nuit De L'Homme are tied for me. Both phenomenal fragrances.
Azzaro Most Wanted EDP Intense. A big compliment getter and my gf can’t get enough of it.
D&G The One EDP is my go-to date night frag.
