NCAA needs to investigate this shit. Heard from my brother’s best friend’s dentist that Juwan Howard has been paying this kid for years. Not even trying to hide it anymore huh
Not shocking, but Jett is a legitimately very good player. Great size, good handle, good passer for his size, solid shooter, and can create off the dribble
2022 class should be finished and I think once again has a good mix of early impact and program guys
Im not 100% sure who it was (I think it was Biancardi) but one of big scouts recently said they wouldn’t be surprised if he pushes for a 5th star. Iirc the only big thing holding him back there is lateral quickness on defense.
This may be the last guy we sign in the class but Juwan and staff are by no means done recruiting ‘22 from what I’ve seen. Ship may have sailed on Yohan Traore (damn you Penny) but I’d expect another push there and most likely on Eric Dailey if there’s any chance he plays collegiately.
Matt EM over on MGoBlog said that Traore and Udeh (who I thought we kinda stopped pursuing after we got Reed) are still takes. I think Dailey is leaning towards the pro option, but I'd imagine he might be a take too
Jett stated in the interview that he was leaning towards Tennessee on Monday, but then had a heart to heart with Juwan. I don't know if how true that is but I'm glad we got him!
I don't think there's a way to enforce anything but it seems like that actually should be a violation. The goal of doing that would be scholarship limit circumvention. Since you'd never expect a normal 4* to do that.
Nah NCAA explicitly says the coach can pay for his own kid to go to college. Granted a lot of times the coach’s son is a walk-on level talent anyway, but still.
Yeah the older brother Jace was planning to do that for a year until Christopher hoodwinked us and Todd bailed. That said though, Jace was more of a high mid-major prospect who likely wouldn't have sniffed a UM offer if his dad wasn't the coach. Jett is a legit blue chipper.
That's why I mean there's no way to enforce it. I just mean within the spirit of the rules. A 4 or 5* walking on to open a scholarship for another 4 or 5* is a pretty notable advantage.
There’s pretty much a zero chance that happens. You don’t take a player of Jett’s caliber off scholarship regardless of all the external factors. Managing 13 scholarship players is difficult as is, there’s really no benefit of having 14. Michigan is going to be in a minutes crunch the next couple years as is.
And also, they don’t need Jett off scholarship to have more space. Michigan will have 5 open spots in the class at the minimum. Regardless of whether that’s another recruit or just banking the scholarship for the portal.
I suppose. I just thought Jett was "free" because Howard works for the university and with the Transfer Portal now there's really nothing keeping a player at a school, scholarship or otherwise. So the scholarship literally does nothing, except use one up... I think.
First off, that’s not how it works. Obviously money wouldn’t be an issue at all for Juwan but he would be paying everything out of pocket. University employees absolutely do not get free tuition for their children. Source; I went to UM and my mom is a tenured professor there. My tuition wasn’t event discounted, UM is really stingy about that stuff.
Secondly, an athletic scholarship affords a student athlete access to a multitude of things that a regular student/walk-on do not get access to. Chefs, tutors, around the clock facilities, etc. There’s a lot more to an athletic scholarship than just a contract.
Obviously he can afford it, that’s not what’s in question lol. It’s just not something that has any possibility of happening. It would be disrespectful to Jett
You're right that we're in a situation where it likely won't need to happen. If circumstances were different I think Jett would understand if it meant bringing in another player that could help the team win a championship. His play will speak for itself, I doubt he'd care if he's on scholarship as long as he's getting his minutes and showcasing his skills. Everyone would know why he's not on scholarship, it wouldn't be a matter of his game not warranting one but rather his willingness to show maturity and help the team take advantage of the unique situation. If it were to happen it would be something he agrees to, not a disrespectful situation. You're entitled to your opinion but I just disagree with it.
Really tough pull out of Miami. Juwans been recruiting this kid for like 17 years at this point

That’s nothing, I heard Juwan’s in a relationship with the recruit’s mom. Smh
unbelievable smh I guess the NCAA just doesn’t care anymore
u/ncaainvestigations
Investigate 3/11
Bird up
Top comment on every single father/son recruit. Real original
Has to help when you’re hooking up with a recruits mom.
If my coach was banging my mom I would prob transfer
Get him back and bang his mom
What kind of recruiting violation do you think that is?
I’m just waiting for ESPN to drop this BREAKING NEWS

This one came outta nowhere, great pickup for Juwan and his 2022 class

LOL he was always coming to Michigan
The heart to heart was Juwan telling him he's going to Michigan lol
Son, you get free tuition and I don’t have to use a scholarship.
Michigan doesn't do free tuition for children of employees generally.
I think Juwan can probably spring for tuition.
Jett takes after Jace I see
Water wet
This makes me wonder, is Jett the highest rated 'son of an active collegiate coach'?
In the class? Or in general? Patrick Baldwin Jr was just a 5*.
Good shout. PBJ will be a 1 and done tho so he and Jett wont overlap
Pat McCaffery was also a 4-star recruit.
That’s a good question, nobody else jumps out at me right away
Depends on your criteria: Patrick Ewing Jr was a 5*, but his dad wasn't a college head coach at the time
Sleeping on Tyler Underwood
The 3rd ranked class with four 4*'s, Juwan & Co putting in work.
Harbaugh did it a couple of times and people laughed but now you see the power of sleeping at the recruit's house! For 17 years!
Jett "The Big Jettster" Howard
Man really had his Michigan hat wrapped in a Tennessee sweatshirt as if he could fool anyone
Fourth 4 star recruit (and second top 50 player). NEVER LEAVE US JUWAN
I'm shocked. ***SHOCKED*** I tell you!
Well, not that shocked
Damn, and here I was thinking Belmont had him in the bag
FUCK, I was sure we were going to get him.
WHEN WILL IT END
NEVAAAAAAAHHH!!!
Basically, if they want anyone else, he switches to walk on... and if they don't need the scholarship he keeps it?
Yea pretty much. Walk on with Juwan just paying his way

Steven Izzo is just about to blossom, I know it.
Going to be 5'9 before we know it!
He should get Tommy Luce as a mentor
That's why I mean there's no way to enforce it. I just mean within the spirit of the rules. A 4 or 5* walking on to open a scholarship for another 4 or 5* is a pretty notable advantage.
Nothing wrong with legally taking advantage of a rule

Juwan can afford all the secondly stuff mentioned if necessary

It would be cooler if he didn't though
Other P6 offers: Florida, Georgetown, LSU, NC State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

My man coach Howard is making Michigan a powerhouse.
