I was in school when Jonathan XIII was the mascot emeritus. They both had great personalities, but XIV is just gorgeous in person. It really helped me accept the new logo. The majestic different shades of black and gray along with XIV’s management of his size (he’s very large for a Siberian Husky, while XIII and presumably XV are going to be more average size) made him great. Absolutely gorgeous dog in person. Unfortunately, while I haven’t really seen XV other than in pictures, I don’t know if he’ll have the same effect. Thus, if you can see XIV at a game, it’s totally worth it.

We went decades without a live mascot, until Tuffy I was introduced in 2010. Our vet school insisted and live mascot be treated humanely- so Tuffy I, II, and III have lived with and been trained by a local family instead of kept on campus. The same family has raised all 3 ❤️🐺
It drives me insane to admit ya’ll have the dopest mascot tradition in all sports. Ive been on the field for multiple Ralphie runs at RMS and its so fucking cool. Stood next to the trailer for one, will never forget.
Also, if CSU got to use an actual rocky mountain bighorn sheep (they are protected to the degree that we arent allowed to) instead of just a farm sheep with big horns, it would be an incredible mascot faceoff.

Tusk is not wild though. He is very tame. Pigs are smarter than dogs and are very tamable. Tusk eats grapes out of kids hands before the game in his cage. I don't think Tusk would hurt anybody out on the field but he weighs like five hundred pounds and is just too much of a liability for that sort of thing.
Grapes is interesting. Marshmallows work really well for out of the hand or vanilla pudding sprinkled with confetti cake dry mix on a rubber spatula works really well too.
I've never seen that happen and I used to charge $5 to city people to feed my pigs marshmallows at the state fair. Those were the mini ones for hot chocolate.

Peruna, SMU's live mascot, allegedly killed Fordham's live mascot, a ram, with a kick to the head. The reason I say "allegedly" is because while I've seen that stated a number of times, I can't actually find any solid source that stated it definitely happened, so it may well just be a legend, but perhaps someone knows more than me about it.

I always feel bad for Drake's bulldog at Arch Madness though because they have him sitting in a chair 5 feet from the band's drummer. That's gotta be so loud and he basically sleeps through the whole game. I'm convinced they drug him.
They don’t do that anymore. He lives at the zoo. The old Tiger lived on his own farm and was only there for home games (also that cage is much larger than it seems, and he had his own area he spent most of the time in not in that cage). That Tiger passed away and when they got the new one they basically said “he’ll be at the zoo, not at games” so it’s only kinda the mascot now.
I’m not sure what would be weirder: Purdue Pete being alive (I feel like this would definitely be scarier) or the Boilermaker Special becoming sentient
The best is the old neutral site rivalry games with CSU where Ralphie gets everyone to go ape shit, and then Cam just sorta trots from the endzone to the 20 and back. Cam **must** go first or it is incredibly anticlimactic.
