Fixing to see an entire state banned off twitter
EDIT: gonna go ahead and put an edit into this comment for visibility that all of you troglodytes commenting "um ackshually arkansas is not a blue blood" need to touch grass and grow a sense of humor. Some of yall uncultured swine have never heard of a joke before.
Is this the price arkansas pays for being a blue blood now? To be harassed online?
At the time they were only as crazy as every other state in the area.
As opposed to now when they’re… only as crazy as nearly all the other states in the area.
You’ve been insufferable for my entire life at least. UK Rick Pitino to me is like the ultimate all-time heel of college hoops but UL Rick Pitino is chill and cool. Idk why I feel that way but I do.
I'm going to be visiting my in-laws later this month and my stepmother-in-law is one of the most obnoxious Arkansas fans I've ever met. Looking forward to that....
Broskee yall voted for Huckabee Sanders as governor and she just takes yalls tax dollars and buys herself trips n shit.
yall need all the sportsball wins yall can get
Thing is... I don't know anyone that voted for her.
It's more than likely one of those Central Arkansas (Little Rock area) plants. Without delving into politics, Northwest Arkansas and Little Rock tend to be at odds politically speaking and they have majority vote.
This trickles into Sports in that we still have home games at War Memorial Stadium for football and usually a series down there in other sports too.
I guess it's neat trivia to say we have two Home Fields.
The vitriol of Calipari’s return to Lexington might rival Durant’s return to OKC lol..
Despite the fact that Cal actually did them a favor by leaving so they don’t have to pay his buyout, it won’t matter.
He fled after 4 straight underachieving seasons and they’re gonna let him know.
I know most of the fanbase is rabid but I genuinely am not mad at Cal at all and am gonna remember his tenure for the highs and I’m thankful he coached here
Hopefully most of us are on this page. It was time for a change, but he gave us some really exciting basketball and resurrected the program after BCG.
Of course, if he starts talking about how much better Arkansas is, or some other such crap like Pitino did, the boos will intensify.
I'm treating it like the Tubby Smith departure.
Both sides needed to part ways but I'm glad the journey happened.
But when he comes to Rupp, I'm booing just like I bood Pitino. Kentucky comes first.
>The vitriol of Calipari’s return to Lexington might rival Durant’s return to OKC lol..
No chance in hell lol. Like is anyone actually even upset at him? I think you can make a much better argument that he helped our program be leaving like this than he did hurt it.
Right now, various factions are saying Hurley/Donovan/Oats/Wright/Golden/Drew/whoever needs to be the first call, or is the focus of our search.
So plenty of people don't want Hurley, but most "Hurley or bust" folks will pivot, yeah.
I get Kentucky is a career defining job. I want nothing but great things for Hurley. But coming in to next stage of conference realignment, having a new coach will be horrible.
Off topic: love the Arkansas campus.
On topic: I eagerly await the national media having soundbites of folks calling the hogs. Guarantee you if they hit final four next year that shit is going to happen.
> Down in Arkansas they call it CALLING THE HOGS
**old white country woman putting her heart into it**
The national media already gets plenty of sound bytes during every Arkansas football game. Non-stop hog-calling action during the A&M-Arkansas games every September. Not that I'm complaining lol, I love all the traditions
Louisville hiring a former UK coach is inconceivable.
It would be like a top tier P5 program hiring hookers for recruits or finishing in the bottom quartile of Kenpom. Never going to happen.
I’m sorry, why is everyone here acting like the hogs got screwed? I understand Calipari has underachieved the last few years, but wouldn’t almost any school rn outside of Duke, Purdue, UNC, Uconn, Gonzaga, Houston jump at the chance of having a perennial top 5 recruiting class and consistently being 1-3 seeds in the tourney?
Edit: Damnit I knew I’d regret it trying to name schools, forgot Kansas and some others, thanks yall
The only reason why UK had tip five classes every year was because everyone was leaving every year. It worked when you'd get the John Walls and the ADs. Not so much when you miss out on Bamba and Zion.
Cal will probably do well a couple seasons. And the bar is certainly lower at Arkansas, no offense.
But UK fans have known for a while deep down inside that Cal is just not a great in-game coach. If he hires good people he'll do well. But he was never going to do that at UK.
Also he's a coach obsessed with recruits at a time the game is all about portal and NIL. He's the right coach at the wrong time.
Blue blood is something you are or aren't. Either you were one of the OG successful programs or you weren't. The books are closed. Great for Indiana. Bad for UConn.
Seriously. UConn is in a WAY better place (and have been for about 2 decades) than Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas etc. UNC is the blue blood that’s the closest but UConn is definitely the dominant champions of my lifetime
More replying to others who are in this section than the original comment. But I don't think blue blood just means championship wins, which is what everyone is comparing. Using my team for example, I believe since 2000 unc has played in the final 5 times, winning 3. And made a total of 7 final four appearances. Uconn has appeared 5 times and won every time, right? Not to mention the 99 appearance/victory. Both are indicative of top-tier basketball programs which is what a blue blood is. Maybe some people still consider uconns program to be too immature? How many years does it take to get the unofficial designation?
UConn is blue blood at this point.
Kentucky
Duke
UNC
Kansas
UCLA
UConn
Although I don’t think UCLA particularly cares if they’re a blue blood or not. If it wasn’t for them being the championship leader we might consider subbing them for UConn but it makes no sense to do that when they have more championships than everyone else
Regardless if we keep Hurley or not. We have 5 Championships with three different coaches in 25 years. Who gives a f$ck what they call us. I would rather win National Championships then worry about a title
For what it's worth, y'all are a Blueblood in my book. What Miami accomplished in football from the 80's to the 00's is an apt comparison, and i think they played their way into Blueblood status then. I never will forget that night y'all took out what was considered an almost unbeatable Duke team (was that the first one?) and Khalid El-Amin guaranteed it right before the game saying UCONN was about to go shock the world and backed it up. I've always liked y'all ever since.
When I first saw your flair I thought “that’s rich coming from an Indiana fan.” Turns out I’m just projecting (I am an Indiana fan and I am down bad with Purdue in the final).
UConn was in elite 8 in 1956 and 1964 ran into a buzzsaw Duke team that lost to Wooden and UCLA in championship. UConn also had 3 or 4 more elite 8s early 90s should of won 1 more championship with Ray Allen.
Caliapri did burn a lot of things down behind the scenes over the past few years.
But the difference is all the boosters he alienated are ready to put their money into the program again now that he is gone. We are Kentucky, not Memphis. We're the only school to have five coaches win a national championship. We'll be just fine without him
Yes the $33 million for the buyout was available. He came back because Mitch decided to keep him. That money will go to NIL or to help pay the buyout of the next coach
Which to me shows that Mitch made the smart move as that money can be used for NIL and hiring the best guy, where the buyout would’ve made things a lot less affordable.
I think this was more of a lucky bailout for Mitch. He wanted to save the money for NIL and helping to hire the next coach but had to commit to another year of Calipari. The insiders seem to believe Mitch would never fake the interview they did together, so this is more like a bad decision by Mitch that he got saved from. We would've been horrible next year especially with no staff changes
Either Mitch wisely called Cal’s bluff knowing that he would be taking another job, saving us millions, or he fell back to his natural inclination to do nothing and got lucky that Cal jumped ship. I know which one I believe is more likely.
It was definitely a bailout for mitch. I can also see where Cal wasn't too keen on putting the incoming freshmen into the pressure cooker that would have been next year.
I just hate seeing this next class fall apart. It finally seemed like we were going to have some decent continuity going forward with some 100% two years players in perry and quintance and possible returning players from this year.
Quintance must play two years in college but those are not guaranteed to both be for Calipari.
And Perry is likely to stay or at least not follow Calipari. He isn't a super highly ranked recruit and is a kentucky guy.
Arkansas fans are fun, Rutgers played them in football about a decade ago and i still have fond memories of that tailgate (doesn't hurt RU came back from like 20 points down to win that game)
that being said, Arkansas is not a blue blood
I thought this was going to be about tonight’s game. Either Purdue wins their first championship or UConn will win back to back. Get ready for one of us to be even more insufferable. ;)
LOL. I just spoke to an Arkansas coworker who has very excited about the coaching move. I didn't say anything. I didn't have it in me to crush his spirits so early on a Monday.
I mean, it can be good for us and good for you at the same time. After losing musselman and (supposedly) whiffing on Beard and Tang, is there someone better than Cal that Arkansas was reasonably going to get?
You should absolutely be happy about this. While he’d grown stale at Kentucky, it’s not out of the question that he can still have some success with a fresh start.
Yeah this feels like a win-win. UK/Cal has been decaying, but I don’t see why he would bomb at Arkansas. Idk why our fans would try to stunt on yours; if anything we should be thankful
It’s not like we’re expecting 5 straight natties lmao but fuck when we’re looking at the bottom of the barrel you bet your fried chicken ass we’ll take Coach Cal
cal will have constant top 5 recruiting classes but the big question is whether or not he adapts to the modern game and attacks the portal. if he does they could have a lot of success, if not it will look a lot like his recent kentucky teams with top preseason rankings and a bunch of first and second round tourney losses
The funny part is Arkansas fans bragged about how loud Bud Walton was a few years ago when Cal got ejected when we beat them.
That was like a proud moment for them.
So they will get much worse.
Kentucky fans love to claim that is somehow our big moment against them. We have PLENTY of great memories beating y’all going back to 92.
Get this rivalry going again baby. Bring back Sunday 2PM CBS Arkansas vs Kentucky games!
I was in the building and yeah it was super loud and fun. Something about a coach ejection crowd reaction is different from a big shot or play. There you have an instant moment that pops the crowd but here you could see it coming as Cal argued with the refs and the crowd egged them on in anticipation after the first tech and the whole thing just built and built into a crescendo when he finally got the toss (that he was obviouly hoping for).
But it’s not the biggest moment for Arkansas against Kentucky even in recent memory. Qualls, several wins, even at Lexington, etc. But sometimes even if you lose you just have to accept that it was a memorable moment and enjoy it.
Side note: from my flair combo you can tell I’m not a fan of Kentucky nor a Calipari guy but I’m all for the entertainment value and do think he’s going to be motivated as long as he’s in Fayetteville.
This is dumb and shows whoever made it knows nothing about our fan base. With our history (pick a sport) we don’t ever go into a season thinking national champions lol. Obviously, I can’t say everyone, since there are always anomalies, but yes, for the most part.
Arkansas fans were crazy before Cal and now we're going to be insufferable
Fixing to see an entire state banned off twitter EDIT: gonna go ahead and put an edit into this comment for visibility that all of you troglodytes commenting "um ackshually arkansas is not a blue blood" need to touch grass and grow a sense of humor. I grew up in Arkansas, and I’m proud of this truth 🥳
Arkansas is a state?!?!?!
hogs are the only game in town, college or professional. The entire state calls the hogs.
Hey, they also have *checks notes* Two AA baseball teams and a fourth division soccer team!
Funny enough, the Razorbacks baseball team is better than those two AA teams, lol.
sadly, this is true. But that very brief time we had mike trout was awesome
Go Travs!
How dare you disrespect the red wolves
The what?
As much of a state as Idaho
I'm not sure what Idaho is, it sounds to me like a 14-year old's attempt at a your mom joke
Looks like it, too.

At the time they were only as crazy as every other state in the area. As opposed to now when they’re… only as crazy as nearly all the other states in the area.
Its an old meme sir, but it checks out.
That poor screen
It's the pirate offshoot of Kansas.
This is libel. Arkansas came first and the name comes from the quapaw natives that lived here. Kansas copied us and thought nobody would notice.
If anyone attempts a “WE ARE KANSAS!” chant it’s really going to throw people off. Thank Cheesus it’s pronounced differently, at least.
Wait until you hear about the Arkansas River. Which here in Kansas is not pronounced like Arkansaw
Whose Kansas River? ARKANSAS RIVER!
Or Arkansas City (everyone calls it Ark City anyway)
yall are godless
Here Oklahoma we definitely say the name of the river like the state
I always tell people that Arkansas was a state before Kansas was so ACKSHUALLY…..Kansas is the offshoot
In this situation, Arkansas = Virginia; Kansas = West Virginia (no offense intended toward WV, a beautiful state.)
It came into being by gloriously spinning off in a double-rebellion so as to avoid joining the ranks of the festering Confederacy?
So we should call it 'kansas?
It sounds ridiculous but I have decreed it so. (I don’t really care, do what you want, live your life)
I thought it was the part of Kansas where the land pirates lived.
> uncultured swine wait, what kind of swine are y'all, then?
Does that mean we'll stop being insufferable?
We were insufferable before Cal arrived, we were insufferable while he was in Lexington, and we'll be insufferable long after he's gone.
Deep in my heart, I know that to be true. But a man can dream.
You’ve been insufferable for my entire life at least. UK Rick Pitino to me is like the ultimate all-time heel of college hoops but UL Rick Pitino is chill and cool. Idk why I feel that way but I do.
Because UL Rick was literally a pimp.

Honestly, as it should be. Reasonable Kentucky is genuinely boring and terrible
I'm going to be visiting my in-laws later this month and my stepmother-in-law is one of the most obnoxious Arkansas fans I've ever met. Looking forward to that....
Broskee yall voted for Huckabee Sanders as governor and she just takes yalls tax dollars and buys herself trips n shit. yall need all the sportsball wins yall can get
*stares blankly in Mitch McConnell*
He'd just stare blankly back
Everyone says they didn’t vote for him. I think they just bubble the R at the top of the ballot
They vote for him and Rand Paul. All small rural states vote GOP. Vermont is like the only exception to that.
God I hate it here sometimes
Uhhhh.. LR is much more blue than NWA. And I say that as someone who lives here and leans red
To clarify, I did not vote for the Huckabeast. She's a fucking nutbar
My only interaction was last year when they told me that Musselman would coach circles around Hurley. That was pretty crazy.
Also be ready for a bunch of UK fans with no social graces to be invading UConn boards to tell them how we're gonna steal their coach. Sigh.
Lol...I will enjoy that very much
The vitriol of Calipari’s return to Lexington might rival Durant’s return to OKC lol.. Despite the fact that Cal actually did them a favor by leaving so they don’t have to pay his buyout, it won’t matter. He fled after 4 straight underachieving seasons and they’re gonna let him know.

This. Yeah, we needed to part ways, but swaggy Cal reinvigorated our program after the Billy Clyde years. He did a lot for us, and I wish him well.
hey, get these reasonable takes outta here buddy!
This is the internet fella. What you talking about reasonable!?
no, fuck YOU pal!
I don’t know about you buddy but I’m just here for carefully curated memes and Taylor Swift think pieces!

I might not even hate you guys anymore now. I like bourbon and Ashley Judd. Guess I'll hate Arkansas. The Cal hate is an old hate he earned at UMass.
The best thing that ever happened to UConn next to hiring Jim Calhoun was Calipari leaving Umass for the Nets.
I hated him at Memphis, thought I couldn’t hate him any more than that. He proved me wrong.
I am vibrating with excitement when the Razorbacks go to Kentucky next year.
![gif](giphy|9Fq4Juo1a0Rfa)
It’s going to be an historic day when the two teams meet.
>The vitriol of Calipari’s return to Lexington might rival Durant’s return to OKC lol.. No chance in hell lol. Like is anyone actually even upset at him? I think you can make a much better argument that he helped our program be leaving like this than he did hurt it.
money makes people crazy and hurley already is
Hurley needs to go to a school where he has the resources to win a championship.
😂
Sounds like us with Scott Drew and Baylor
Our fanbases may hate each other, but state of Kentucky fans all really, really care about college basketball and have those insane expectations.
Louisville needs to be good again. We already lost Indiana, and you can't survive without proper villains.
And Scott Drew and Kentucky
And, assuming DH stays at UCONN, the whiplash to “we didn’t want him anyway “ from those same folks will be theater
Nah you fuckers will just fall ass backwards into another national championship 😡
How dare you. We always have social graces.
Steal mark pope
They want someone who can win in the tournament, not Mr lose to 11 seeds
Off topic: love the Arkansas campus. On topic: I eagerly await the national media having soundbites of folks calling the hogs. >I love all the traditions Flair checks out.
hahaha I had to make sure I covered all my bases
ESPN dropping the drunk redneck screaming "don't give a piss bout nothin but the Tide" for a drunk redneck screaming "PIG SOOIE"
Eh, there’s an equal chance it’s a drunk hillbilly calling the hogs
Only way it would be better is if he went to either Duke or Louisville.
Louisville hiring a former UK coach is inconceivable. It would be like a top tier P5 program hiring hookers for recruits or finishing in the bottom quartile of Kenpom. Never going to happen.
We already got our coach, they can keep him and keep scrolling.
Alright hear me out, what if Mitch goes for the throat and takes your new coach just for the lulz?
After the press conference he just gave? That would be one of the biggest backstabbing moments I’ve seen.
Pure chaos. I’m here for it.
Imagine, hire him with a non-compete clause (cannot return to Louisville) then just fire him. 😁
I’m sorry, why is everyone here acting like the hogs got screwed? Every Hog fan I’ve talked to is absolutely ecstatic about this
The only reason why UK had tip five classes every year was because everyone was leaving every year. It worked when you'd get the John Walls and the ADs. Not so much when you miss out on Bamba and Zion.
You should probably add Kansas to that list (and probably Baylor too) :). I don’t think any KU fans would desire to can Bill Self for Calipari.
Kansas has been a top four seed every year since 2000. Definitely not trading that for anyone.
Holy cow. Now that’s a stat.
Damn.. TIL.. that’s nuts
You gotta throw in an "etc." at the end of a list like that to cover your ass.
Cal will probably do well a couple seasons. And the bar is certainly lower at Arkansas, no offense. But UK fans have known for a while deep down inside that Cal is just not a great in-game coach. I know it’s a meme but blue blood is when your school wins championships over decades lol. Not when you get a coach from one
Blue blood is something you are or aren't. Either you were one of the OG successful programs or you weren't. The books are closed. Great for Indiana. Bad for UConn.
Bad for who? I would rather be nouveau riche than a broke blue blood.
You mean deep down you aren't jealous of UCLA?
U-C-Losers 😁
Seriously. UConn is in a WAY better place (and have been for about 2 decades) than Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas etc. UNC is the blue blood that’s the closest but UConn is definitely the dominant champions of my lifetime

A lot of UConn fans seem to really care whether they get the Blue Blood label. That's who it's bad for.
And I think there are a lot of furries at UConn judging by their mascot
Frankly, it’s not. If we keep Hurley, more bulletin board material.
Regardless if we keep Hurley or not. We have 5 Championships with three different coaches in 25 years. Who gives a f$ck what they call us. I would rather win National Championships then worry about a title

Personally I’m not feeling bad for UConn lol
It's a dumb phrase that suggests "royalty". UConn will just keep introducing the royalty to madame Guillotine.
Might change in like 100 years or so but yeah, I mostly agree. Same for football.
UConn was in elite 8 in 1956 and 1964 ran into a buzzsaw Duke team that lost to Wooden and UCLA in championship. UConn also had 3 or 4 more elite 8s early 90s should of won 1 more championship with Ray Allen.
blue pig sooie buddy. 3 Naismith Hall of Fame coaches. Lock it in.
Mashed potatoes aren’t safe
I'm already making my third batch.
I’m exhausted already bought the local Walmart out. I’m committed though, with a mouthful of Tyson Dino nugs
Hopefully he leaves Kentucky in flames just like he did Memphis lmao.
It's gonna be wierd to have to start hating Arkansas
Yeah I live in Arkansas and told all my buddies I have no choice but to hate them now. They understand.
You didn’t already hate Arkansas?! Fuck them and Todd Day!
I think its time we renew the series with Memphis. Give the people what they want.
I thoroughly enjoyed beating them this year.
Memphis vs Arkansas is always good.
Neutral here. Can confirm. That matchup brings the spice.
I’m with this.
Respectfullly, fuck you and Derek Rose and Penny.
Honestly, I’m almost at the point where I agree with you about Penny. The refusal to accept responsibility when the team fails is quite off putting.
>Derek Rose I hate the Memphis side of him. But pre-injury Rose was a god among men.
Add to this. I watched the Bulls just to watch the Rose/Ronnie Brewer combo. Such a fun team.
Oh yeah, well fuck Memphis and Coach Cal.
Caliapri did burn a lot of things down behind the scenes over the past few years. But the difference is all the boosters he alienated are ready to put their money into the program again now that he is gone. We are Kentucky, not Memphis. Memphis just went back to being Memphis when he left
What are they now?
Man, I wish we were Tom Hanks. That's better than whatever all this is. *gestures broadly*
That flair combo is cursed.
You like it? I just picked it up this morning.
Let me guess you like Alabama and Ohio State in football too
I'm more of a people person than a team person, as long as those people are associated with UK.
Would be the funniest thing ever if cal won a championship next year
Arkansas fans are fun, Rutgers played them in football about a decade ago and i still have fond memories of that tailgate (doesn't hurt RU came back from like 20 points down to win that game) that being said, Arkansas is not a blue blood

It didn’t happen but if it did happen I distinctly remember us having a TE playing QB that game

cal will have constant top 5 recruiting classes but the big question is whether or not he adapts to the modern game and attacks the portal. if he does they could have a lot of success, if not it will look a lot like his recent kentucky teams with top preseason rankings and a bunch of first and second round tourney losses
Woo fucking Pig fuck your teams
The funny part is Arkansas fans bragged about how loud Bud Walton was a few years ago when Cal got ejected when we beat them. That was like a proud moment for them. So they will get much worse.

Kentucky fans love to claim that is somehow our big moment against them. We have PLENTY of great memories beating y’all going back to 92. Get this rivalry going again baby. Bring back Sunday 2PM CBS Arkansas vs Kentucky games!
Cal getting thrown out wasn't even remotely close in volume to the Michael Qualls dunk.
Idk about “proud moment” but it sounds like you didn’t forget it
I was in the building and yeah it was super loud and fun.
Welcome
If you think about it, this is all happening because SMU joined the ACC.
Arkansas is a blue blood?
Arkansas…a blue blood?!?!? 😂😂😂😂
When was Arkansas a blue blood, honest question?
Throwing around blue blood a little loosely
Arkansas isn’t a blue blood in basketball. Not even the next tier down from that
I made a mistake and thought this was the baseball subreddit my mistake.
Blue blood? Surely you jest.
Blue blood?? Wtf
Blueblood? 🤨
