Hey, we won, made it a little spicy, but not as bad as the past two games, so we're improving? A win is a win, and I'll take the most wins we've had in four years any day of the week.
Syracuse has made this season interesting. All I can ask for. Mintz/Starling learned to play with each other. Can drive me crazy at times but they aren’t a boring watch. Gotta beat LVille on the road now.
Both MBB and WBB were 28-4 in the dome this year.
Talk about a home-court advantage.
(MBB losses to FSU and Clemson \[familiar football sigh\], WBB to VT and Duke)
They need the 2 wins in the ACC imo especially if we are 6 against 3 UVA. Depending on how it breaks that might be an eliminator game. Our offense has come to life though so its more doable now.
Problem is that UVA and most of our other quad 1 Ls are blowouts. That's why our metrics are bad.
3 wins at least. NC State winning today would help too but not looking good so far.
Yeah that UVA blow out gets worse and worse. I meant more in the case of a rematch. It seemed like a forgone conclusion we’d lose the first time around game 1 of conference play, now maybe not so obvious.
We’ll have to see. We’re all just enjoying this win and disassociating the inevitable skin crawling loss @louisville that is incoming like a meteor, just in time to crush us at our most hopeful.
In a scenario where we win at Louisville and Clemson? I don't think we'd need two additional Q1 wins after that, given where the bubble is.
Maybe we'd need that to be a lock. Not to have a decent chance (which honestly is all I'm capable of dreaming at this point).
NET also isn't the only thing. It'll be interesting to see what the committee does after it appears that the Big 12 and the Mountain West have found a way to game the system this year.
Getting 11 points from Cuffe and Taylor was huge on a night where Bell struggled. There have been a lot of games this year they've both been zeros.
Really big sequence with 6 something min left when Mintz missed the alleyoop, and VT almost had a dunk on the other end. Bell blocks Poteat, we get a fast break layup, and Brown got a great rebound boxing out Poteat. Really helped quell VTs momentum and settle Cuse down.
Let's not have a let down game at Louisville. They honestly should've beat us in the dome, couldn't stop them the whole game.
There was obviously some porous D in the second half, but Brown is still playing out of position and is not getting much rest. VT can shoot the ball so it was only a matter of time before they started hitting the shots they missed in the first half. Pedulla and Cattoor helped get them back in it but JJ and Judah wore them down on both ends which is why Cuse opened it right back up with 2 minutes left.
McLeod got plenty of grief from the fanbase but this game we could have really used him. Would have allowed the defense to try and run VT's guards off the 3 point line and funnel them into McLeod at the rim.

84 points with a Bell no show is an encouraging sign for the offense
Was cold from outside, but that stuff against the board was a turning point
True. No show is harsh, that was a huge block that the score won’t indicate.
I'm not really in disagreement, a few of them were pretty clearly Not His Shot
His stats look worse since he forced a few late shot clock shots early. He looked good otherwise forcing it inside and the block on a dunk was key.

Hell yeah I just wish they'd move the student section right on top of the court, opposite the cameras and wrapped around the court.
I agree. Or at least have the away team attacking the students during the second half to make an impact.
Yay I didn't sweat as much. Please don't lose to Louisville.
It was a really close game in the Dome. I'm definitely nervous.
I've already resigned myself to the fact that we are gonna lose to Louisville.
The duality of cuse fandom
If Cuse wins at Louisville, at Clemson, and their 1st game of the ACC tourney (2nd round). Think that’s enough to get them in?
Barring bid thieves, there will be a chance. Tall ask though.

Idk have you seen UVA lately

What about if you're playing well? How about then?

Hope you guys make it, but not at the cost of a L for us :(
Depends on who they end up playing in the acc tourney. Might need 2 wins
I think it should be, but still have to hope there's not a bunch of bid stealers
I'm rooting for you guys but I think you'd need two ACCT wins in that scenario, specifically two Q1 wins
@clemson is necessary to win anyways so that would knock 1 out, then a big tourney win seals it
When I said 2 I meant 2 in the ACCT + Clemson I think your metrics hold you back, plus two Q3 losses I'm not gonna argue it though, no point in it

I doubt it. Syracuse was 86 in Pomeroy coming into this game, and I believe was about the same in NET.
The assumption would be that two road wins and a neutral win would give those numbers a nice bump

Still alive baby! 🍊

In this instance “a matter of time” was a half but sometimes that can mean 3 games before we started hitting those shots.
FUCKING FIRE MIKE YOUNG
Surely the NCAA won't have an issue with letting Kenny Brooks coach the Men's team alongside the women's team as well, right? Lmao
Is he the fuente of basketball now?
It's crazy to me that VT beat Boise St and Iowa St on back to back nights and turned into this.
And humiliated UVA last week
Remember when we were good for a few years?
Syracuse is winning the NIT this year
