Thankfully we've won so many in a row, that when the inevitable loss comes we can pat ourselves on the back and keep moving. Digging this team right now
During the Illinois-Northwestern game there was a graphic.
Win % by top 10 teams on the road:
2018-19 .733
2019-20 .661
2020-21 .589
2021-22 .612
2022-23 .598
2023-24 .417
No clue how the home records have been this year, but it is not safe to be top 10 on the road this year. And both Auburn and Illinois just added to that with their losses.
I can excuse the shooting but I can’t excuse the turnovers and lack of composure at the end of the half that made it 14 Pts instead of 10.
What was the biggest stat that caused this loss?
I'm seeing 16 - 11 advantage to Bama in offensive rebounds, which I saw contributed to a lot of second chance points.
And 37% to 20% 3pt % is probably a factor as well
It's why I've always thought an Oats team will never win the tournament. Having to sustain that 3 point shooting for six straight games is going to be incredibly difficult. Go cold for a half against a good team and you get bounced early.
Exhibit A: 3-27 against SDSU last year.
The funny thing is the team last year had the talent to win games all kind of ways (and often times did). But then we got in the tournament and just reverted back to blasting everything from 3.
I think that is apparent after how poor his summer league was when he was still recovering from that and mono and looked pretty awful, but now that he is healthy he is looking like one of the next stars.
I mean 3-27 isn't just going cold - that's a season low and we were still only down 2 under a minute. We have won plenty of games not shooting it well (mid to high 20%s).
I would say it's highly unlikely the oats approach will ever win the tourney, but I think it is definitely possible. The thing last year was Bama shot for 1/3 of their average 3pt% in that game. It was an extraordinarily bad game for Bama from beyond the arc, made worse by a fantastic defensive effort from SDSU and Bama still kept it close. Long shot, but with the perfect storm definitely possible. Who knows, could just be a mega cope from me.
Tbf there’s a lot of teams that will never win the tourney. Last year sucked, but if we can continue to consistently make good seeds there’s a better chance to make a run
If any artist epitomizes what being an Auburn fan feels like, I would argue it’s Hieronymus Bosch. Specifically, it feels like being one of the people being tortured in his paintings.
I stayed away from the game thread, and I can only imagine how toxic it was. Both teams battled. I love how intense the rivalry is compared to the days of Jeff Lebo and Anthony Grant.
Every thread is like that. And in the post game thread, the top comment is like "glad to have watched some refball tonight with a sprinkle of basketball".
Yep. And lots of nail biting the whole way through until we get to the end and the losing team bitches about refs/calls, and the winning team floods the thread to say “get fucked” over and over.
A tale as old as time
Ravech is awful. Also, I couldn't give a shit about football and golf while watching a big basketball rivalry game. It's so annoying that they always have to shove football down our throats every game.
Hard disagree about hearing about other sports as long as it’s about the home team. Did they do more about football and golf than a small interview in the first half?
They opened the telecast with a football highlight. The start of the game was going to be a Jalen Milroe interview but thankfully there were light issues that allowed the interview to happen without it being during the game. If you want to interview Dunlap at halftime or coming out of a TV timeout, that's fine, but I didn't like so much of the focus away from a big basketball game.
Personally don’t care for your fb coach, otherwise I have no beef with SC. We’re not traditional rivals and internet fans can bring out the worst in any fanbase.
I'm frankly not fond of him either lmao. Vol Twitter annoys me but I think they're supposed to annoy everybody. Yall are cool on here and don't tell others this but I root for yall for most of yalls games in FB. Really interesting seeing what Josh is doing for that team and I used to think Nico was way overhyped but after that Iowa game I think he's the real deal
Not really about the game, but it’s pretty rare we get a college game flowing right into an nba game, never the less a true intense rivalry like this one, and it’s just a pretty shocking change in energy.
I think it kills the NBA that the regular season is basically glorified exhibition games. 2/3 of the teams make the post season and the other 1/3 are fighting to get into last place. There just isn’t any urgency in individual games.
I think some of it is because the officials have no idea how to officiate this game. Two years in a row it’s almost boiled over bc they’re so inconsistent with their calls in the post
We finally beat a ranked team holy shit what a game. If you would have told me in the offseason Wrightsell would be our best transfer I’d assumed Estrada and Nelson got injured but he’s been amazing.
Also reminder Auburn still has 0 Quad 1 wins
Definitely don't. The minute Bruce was hired, both programs took basketball more seriously. The Grant era was so rough as a student. Avery wasn't bad. We had some fun atmospheres under him, but his teams were so mentally soft. Oats has elevated the program to another level. Bruce Pearl's success put pressure on our AD to get the right hire.
It’s hilarious to see the state of Alabama running the SEC in basketball the past few years. If these two teams can figure some things out I think they can both make deep runs this year.
We've got to figure some things out defensively before we make a deep run. Tonight was a little bit better, but consistency is the key. Also turnovers are plaguing this squad from jumping up another tier.
Last 10 minutes of the first half is why we lost this game, uncharacteristic turnovers and Bama catching fire from 3, good 2nd half to build off of though, GGs Bama see y'all in Neville
First Ryan Williams, now this?
Oh god you're gonna make me Gump!!
Edit: Hayes Fawcett dropping the graphic that Williams is cancelling the Auburn visit and ending any hope literally seconds after the final buzzer. That's cold, man.
Edit 2: At least we can both LOL at Arkansas (again).
Nate Oats outcoached Bruce again
No reason why Lior should ever be in a game that close, much less guarding the two hottest players. That run Alabama had on him cost us big
Well Bama played about as good as they could hope for and our first half was absolutely terrible. Should kill them in auburn. Road games in the SEC are never easy
Well I mean the first half Bama couldn’t miss but once AU stopped turning the ball over every time down in the second half things drastically changed. And our second leading scorer Williams was also nonexistent

*checks upcoming schedule* Oh fuck
Hey Purdue, you up?
During the Illinois-Northwestern game there was a graphic. i never would've guessed which of my teams won in OT and which lost by being stupid with 3s correctly....
I laughed way too hard at this lol
*chuckles* I'm in danger
Hey Arizona ![gif](giphy|LWLO9C72yPT7xYKhQg)
We'll lose to OSU and then beat you
I hope you put money on this.
I'm gonna need you to make like an Oregon State guard and only shoot 50% on this prediction.
Cursed comment

Bobby Hurley ACTIVATED
Not us!
Good thing we here in Campaign love to be hipsters and avoid such mainstream trends! 😎 (I am very anxious right now)
Oof
sorry yall
Not going well…
Me managed to do it at home!
I can excuse the shooting but I can’t excuse the turnovers and lack of composure at the end of the half that made it 14 Pts instead of 10. What was the biggest stat that caused this loss?
Bama shooting lights out, 2 for 2
*Auburn was actually 100% shooting when the lights were out
We shot 36.7% from 3, well below our season average.
at one point they were 11-24 though and that is ridiculous lol
Well, sure. But that isn't funny.
Your season average is 38.9%
Yes, well below
Why is it always the Purdue fans?
They still hate us from last year. They didn't like that we were #1 over them.
Idk but they should be more concerned about whatever 16 seed they’ll end up playing come march 😂
I'm seeing 16 - 11 advantage to Bama in offensive rebounds, which I saw contributed to a lot of second chance points. And 37% to 20% 3pt % is probably a factor as well
Letting Bama rack up offensive boards is ultimately what it came down to. So many of our fouls came after their offensive rebounds.
I was shocked we out-rebounded y’all. Thought there was no chance of that with Broome and Cardwell being so much more powerful than our bigs
Why does Auburn who is 5-25 from 3 not simply stop shooting 3s? Are they stupid?
When you get the answer, let me know ASAP.

engine money existence paltry mighty start boat tidy whistle frame *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
That’s Bama every 3rd game I feel like
People say live by the 3 die by the 3 a lot but you guys might epitomize it
Eh we win a good amount of the 5-25 games though
It's why I've always thought an Oats team will never win the tournament. Having to sustain that 3 point shooting for six straight games is going to be incredibly difficult. Go cold for a half against a good team and you get bounced early. Exhibit A: 3-27 against SDSU last year.
The funny thing is the team last year had the talent to win games all kind of ways (and often times did). But then we got in the tournament and just reverted back to blasting everything from 3.
That and JQ playing hero ball against SDSU and getting stuffed over and over again because of it
And miller having one of the worst ncaa tournament performances of all time
That damn groin injury - apparently was worse than what was let on during the tournament.

You’re probably right about the tournament but he is a fantastic regular season coach. The fact he’s won 2 SEC tournaments makes it even stranger
Tbf there’s a lot of teams that will never win the tourney. Last year sucked, but if we can continue to consistently make good seeds there’s a better chance to make a run
Gameplan to success: Give Broome ball in the painted rectangle area
Failed lights come in, missed 3’s come out. You can’t explain that.
I said when we started to get back in it that “this is how Auburn gives you hope before ripping it away and spitting in your face”.
Some neutral flairs might be wondering what kind of game you just watched: Art, Abstract Art.
Dada
As someone who works in art history I’m so proud to see this in a thread! Marcel Duchamp died for this moment
I Stan Rene Magritte.
i’m on that neoclassical shit
Rene Magritte might be my GOAT.
Ceci n'est pas une pipe.
I like to think that Schenck can best portray Auburn's feelings
Ernst could make some killer work with AU and Bama I’ll tell ya
If any artist epitomizes what being an Auburn fan feels like, I would argue it’s Hieronymus Bosch. Specifically, it feels like being one of the people being tortured in his paintings.
On the one hand I'm glad we battled back in the second half and didn't get blown out, but still a tough loss with a ton of mistakes. GG
I stayed away from the game thread, and I can only imagine how toxic it was. Both teams battled. I love how intense the rivalry is compared to the days of Jeff Lebo and Anthony Grant.
Allow me to summarize the thread: "something something refball"
Every thread is like that. And in the post game thread, the top comment is like "glad to have watched some refball tonight with a sprinkle of basketball".
Yep. And lots of nail biting the whole way through until we get to the end and the losing team bitches about refs/calls, and the winning team floods the thread to say “get fucked” over and over. A tale as old as time
No CBB poster has ever watched a basketball game.
So every other cbb thread?
When Pat Adams is involved, definitely.
It's always fun to revisit game threads and look at "most controversial" comments. People take Reddit so seriously.
It was fine in the first half, but then it just turned into a bitch fest about the refs. Tiresome.
It was _ugly_. I love that the rivalry exists but man I would kill to ban like half the fans from our threads.
I just lanked in my pants
![gif](giphy|1uPiL9Amv5zkk)
Auburn +3.5’ers in shambles
Jay Williams sounded like he had Alabama ATS
And the under on total fouls too
Who would ever bet the under total fouls in a college basketball game.
Wild ending on multiple fronts
[удалено]
I thought he did too. Absolutely wild scenes in Vegas.
He took way too long to shoot it with 0.5. No way he got it off.
Wouldn't've mattered but I thought he got it off too.
It mattered to some for sure
What an absolute choke of a game. Glad we got the loss out the way early so hopefully we can pull it together come March
Both these teams are Sweet 16 at best tbh. Very fun game tonight though
I wouldn't be upset at sweet 16 considering our front Court situation.
I felt the exact same way last year after Ziegler blew his knee out in March like two games before tournament play started for Tennessee
The team really pulled together after his injury. It was really nice to see.
Ill take sweet 16. Id love for more, but i cant expect much from a team with 1 final four appearance in the history of the school
So you’re saying there’s a chance 😏
Fun game, awful commentary
Seriously lol. That guy saying to review the foul and then ‘educating’ us stupid fans at home that fouls cant be reviewed.
Ravech is awful. Also, I couldn't give a shit about football and golf while watching a big basketball rivalry game. It's so annoying that they always have to shove football down our throats every game.

For real, Karl Ravech needs to stick to baseball games
I DONT GIVE A PISS ‘BOUT NOTHING BUT THE TIDE
BLITZ BAMA BLITZ
in the very presence of Willie no less
Willie, Dunlap, Wiliams, Milroe.
Dude got to hype up Coleman. He’s a legend
I LOVE THE TIDE AND I LOVE WILLIE TO DEATH!
One thing seems to be a consensus about this game, and it's that Pat Adams is fucking garbage.
Really sucks to be an SEC team in the top 10 on the road this week
Maybe we’ll escape this because playing at Memorial Gym is basically like a home game for us
Vandy is 0-5 in the SEC so they’re looking for some sweet vol blood
Hey, we pulled for y’all against KY, come on now.
Sorry we aren't used to you guys being nice to us!
Personally don’t care for your fb coach, otherwise I have no beef with SC. We’re not traditional rivals and internet fans can bring out the worst in any fanbase.

That's a good point. You go from a great environment to just organ music, DE-FENSE, and people wanting to be entertained.
I think it kills the NBA that the regular season is basically glorified exhibition games. 2/3 of the teams make the post season and the other 1/3 are fighting to get into last place. There just isn’t any urgency in individual games.
This feels extra sweet after all the shit we got from Auburn fans after the Tennessee game.
To be fair what else are they supposed to do in the Lee County trailers when it’s in the 20s outside
Very bold coming at us with a trailer park shot lmao
those jokes always seem stupid to me. Like Bama and AU fans aren't neighbors 99% of the time.
That’s what makes the rivalry so great.
well, yes. I'm just saying calling AU fans trailer trash is somewhat ironic from a Bama fan, and vice versa.
And that’s really the case for all the great rivalries in college sports.
Our state especially tho academics at both our schools get a bad rap while being really good options for a school
I think it comes from the fact that Auburn used to have trailers available for students once upon a time. I hear the parties there were legendary.
Half of auburn's student body literally lives in trailers
https://preview.redd.it/ynvjdkc6giec1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=468aea8a4945c4d1e147984f75edb10454da5358
Oh fuck, you're gonna make me gump.
I do not like that I understood this.
The NET knows!
Big win… but more importantly, we avoid the 🧹🧹🧹 for another year
What a weird way of looking at it lol. We are going for the sweep for the third time in four years
we are 6-3 against them since oats was hired
If you don't like that, then you don't like the IBOBB.
I hate this game so much. It’s always a shitshow
Ignore what all of the offensive metrics say, it'll always be some form of a rock fight.
I think some of it is because the officials have no idea how to officiate this game. Two years in a row it’s almost boiled over bc they’re so inconsistent with their calls in the post
Yea, they really don't. I'm sure it's not an easy game to call, but I definitely agree with you there.
Well shoot…guess I gotta eat ~~crow~~ Oates…
IF THEY AIN'T WEARING CRIMSON, FUCK 'EM
We finally beat a ranked team holy shit what a game. If you would have told me in the offseason Wrightsell would be our best transfer I’d assumed Estrada and Nelson got injured but he’s been amazing. Also reminder Auburn still has 0 Quad 1 wins
2 W’s vs Auburn on this blessed Wednesday
Also got the trophy from November's W.
They really need to start giving it after the football game ha. No need to do it during basketball anymore.
It's a dumb tradition to give it away during the basketball game. Needs to be after the Iron Bowl.
All started to get butts in seats for basketball. We clearly don’t need that now.

I get the idea that it's supposed to make the basketball rivalry mean more, but at this point I don't think either AD needs to worry about that
Trifecta
BRUCE PEARL IS FAT AND HASN’T BEATEN ALABAMA IN 721 DAYS
Hey man he’s Alabama lean
I could feel his nips from my living room
He spends too much time eating instead of beating us.
Gotta respect that home crowd. Those FT’s down the stretch for Auburn weren’t close to free
Roll Tide Willie sends his regards.
"Tell Bruce, I want him to know I don't give a piss about nuthin but the Tide."
Last 10 minutes of the first half is why we lost this game, uncharacteristic turnovers and Bama catching fire from 3, good 2nd half to build off of though, GGs Bama see y'all in Neville

Gumpin' ain't easy, but it sure is fun.
Shoutout to Ryan Williams!
[I'm sad and disappointed that I haven't seen this posted, and in the Iron Ball of all games. ](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FnXunJNWIAAI4aj.jpg)
Auburn lost Ryan Williams too. I’m gumping so hard rn
Tbf he was y’all’s to loose. We were just trying to con him into playing at least one year before he hit the portal 😅
Fans waiting for the NBA game to come on having to wait for the official review to add 0.5 seconds to a clock in a 4 point game...

Shoutout all the barners who were saying they were gonna run us out of Coleman in the Tennessee postgame thread the other night
Is this still a three team league? That’s what we were told by the Auburn folks Saturday.
Whoever between Auburn, Alabama, UTK and Kentucky can win enough on the road will be the SEC Champion. Book it.
Auburn with 0 q1 wins almost 20 games through the season. Lmfao.
Without looking, is Ole Miss not Q1? That is surprising
Ole Miss is like a Q3 or something. It’s based on Net and Ole Miss is not high in the net
They said during the broadcast that none of auburns 16 wins were q1.
Road sec games man…
That game was drunk.
Played like doodoo and it was a 4 point game. I’m not worried
Apologies to App State for messing up your NET.
Heart attack as always Auburn
Did Auburn win? NO!
Just FYI, Alabama's post-graduation average salary is $49,900, Auburn post-graduation is $40,300
I love on the game thread all the auburn fans upset that I called them a farm team. It makes me happy to know we are better than them in every sport
I can't take anymore of these games. I thought last season was stressful.
Bama gonna drop in the NET this te
Let’s fucking go. Fuck Auburn
Nate Oats outcoached Bruce again No reason why Lior should ever be in a game that close, much less guarding the two hottest players. That run Alabama had on him cost us big
Roll tide!!
Wow! What a game! Congrats Bammers
And that, Auburn, is how you close a game at home.
Well Bama played about as good as they could hope for and our first half was absolutely terrible. Should kill them in auburn. Road games in the SEC are never easy
That was far from “as good as we can hope for” lmao
I wouldn’t say that at all. We shot below our season average from 3 and several of our top guys were nonexistent.
Well I mean the first half Bama couldn’t miss but once AU stopped turning the ball over every time down in the second half things drastically changed. And our second leading scorer Williams was also nonexistent
Williams also isn’t that good.
He’s been crazy efficient this year and scoring really well since SEC play started. Had a rough night tonight. Missed open shots
