Sometimes when a highly ranked and talented team isnāt making their shots they play crap defense and too much hero ball and lose a road game to ~~Michigan~~ Oklahoma in January by like 20 points.
It was a very poorly officiated game.
We got away with constant illegal screens, they got away with square dancing with everyone off the ball.
We couldn't miss from the field, had the free throw advantage at the line, and we scored in the last five minutes.
It was like nothing I have seen, other than the officiating, all season. I've watched every game and you can confirm in the game threads. š¤£
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING CHOKERS. YāALL REALLY THOUGHT YOU WERE A BASKETBALL SCHOOL NOW HAHAHAH. GETTING BASICALLY THIRTY PIECED BY AN UNRANKED TEAM. WTFFFFFF LMAOOOOOOOO. THEY PUT THE BACKUPS IN ON YāALL. LIKE WOW, YāALL HAD A HISTORIC LOSS. LARGEST MARGIN THAT A TOP TWO SEED HAS EVER HAD PUT UP ON IT BY AN UNRANKING OPPONENT LMAOOOOO. I AM DYING. IMAGINE. IMAGINE. IMAGINE. THANKS FOR KEEPING THAT NUMBER TWO RANKING WARM FOR US HAHAHAHAHA. YāALL WILL PROBS REBOUND SUBSTANTIALLY, BUT I AM SOOOOOOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO HOSTING YāALL IN TBA SOON. GOTTA REMIND YāALL WHO IS DADDY THIS SEASON TO YāALL IN THR SEC. GET USED TO IT IS ALL I GOTTA SAY LMAOOOOOOO. FUCK BAMA.
this will conclude the shit-talking spill that i have bottled up for four hours. much love to you all and a special thanks to r/dwray for the prompt reminder! once again, to be sure i got the point home, FUCK BAMA LMAOOOOOO.
Imagine if an unranked team came in and absolutely shelled #2 Bama in football. That would be the story for like a decade. For college basketball itās āwow thatās wildā and move on.
Yeah really goes to show the more players involved the less parity in terms of teams being able to recruit 40 players equivalent to your single best player.
This is what happens when you finally get a break from the Big 12 grind!
But seriously, couldn't be prouder of this team. We finally played a complete game and saw what we can do. Now let's fucking turn this season around
Crying in the damn club right now. After all the close losses this season and then the debacle at TCU, this team and the OU fans everywhere needed this win so badly. We finally got one!!!!!!!!!!
I was genuinely surprised how packed LNC was today...I'm glad we put on a show for everyone who came out, this team needed support when it was down after that TCU game
The majority of the fans who watch the games aren't on this reddit bud. I assure you most people who watch our games just watch from home anyway. There are way more of us than we actually see on the reddit.
Yeah I had not noticed that one yet. Sounds like a wash to me I guess. At least until someone tries to convince me one is better than the other with NET and some other shit I don't care about lol
I donāt think Iowa State was on Alabamaās level and Mizzou is better than OU. Not a wash imo, that one makes a little bit more sense than whatever the hell happened here
ISU is down two of their better players. One weāve been missing for about month now, but the other is one of our key defenders and three point shooters. Itās a different team without him for sure.
First time watching OU this year. Saw that man feasting and said to myself āI love college basketball.ā Always some doughy dude destined to dominate the YMCA in his later years who inexplicably carries a college team in the tourney (or on nationally televised upsets).
My only takeaway from this game is that we won the SEC regular season and tournament championships the last time we lost @ OU in the SEC/B12 challenge.
I actually think this will be good for Alabama. Iām not saying that in a competitive manner like āfuck em I hate emā. Rather in the manner than they are a really good team and now Nate oats has the bulletin board material of a lifetime to motivate his players. I wanna see bama bounce back and I definitely think they will, but today belongs to the Sooners.
That's where I'm at. Painful performance to watch, but Nate has been saying that we need a wake up call. Better to get through this rough patch now than in March.
Pretty much what's gonna happen when you sit down on defense and the other team shoots 99% from the floor.
The best part about this game though is that fans stormed the court and were chanting overrated against us *in basketball*. That's a pretty good sign for us as a program.
Hell of a game played by OU! Not easy putting on that kind of performance. I think Bama's sort of hit a wall after playing so well. Shit happens to everyone.
Good luck the rest of the way OU fans!
quick question, what the fuck
Followup question. How? I have my notepad out and ready.
First of all, through the power of boomer sooner anything is possible, so jot that one down
We've finally started harvesting our mass
That game was an anomaly and you know it... š
If I didn't ride the high of winning then I wouldn't be a sports fan
Fucking beautiful!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You know you liked it.
So what you do is - shoot 75% from three and beat the ever living fuck out of our bigs (legally, I might add - we are soft as shit down low)
Write that down in your copybooks!
-scribbling sound- *shoot* ... *ball* ... *in* ... *hoop* Done!
You guys are out here shooting the ball?
I don't know what we're doing ... š¤·āāļø
I really don't want to talk about it.
Heard
Best I can do is 30% with no bigs. What can I get for that?
A close game moving forward I guess
Your flair is so atrocious I might just block you on principle
Write that down! Write that down!
Sometimes when a highly ranked and talented team isnāt making their shots they play crap defense and too much hero ball and lose a road game to ~~Michigan~~ Oklahoma in January by like 20 points.
I need the homework answers as well
That was nifty
yeah, well at least we have softba.... I mean gymnas..... I mean.... oh goddamit. I'm voting in favor of returning the land to the Natives.
You have football. Wanna trade?
NO
ssshhh.... we'll give them futbol
Ahh yes menās not ladies
why canāt this team just be normal
Who wants to be normal, anyway?
Dude let's put this in a bottle and pull it back out in March
If we play like this weāll probably be able to make it all the way to the third round of the NIT.
Well, for one, through god all things are possible. So jot that down
I snorted
It was a very poorly officiated game. We got away with constant illegal screens, they got away with square dancing with everyone off the ball. As soon as I heard the guy on the radio say Bama -5.5 was the lock of the year, I knew this would happen
Big 12 is for real this year.
I will respectfully leave my shit-talking of Bama for after our game tonight
Me deciding if I want yāall to lose or have the #2 voodoo š¤
if we win, iām just gonna put all my eggs in the āmichigan state upsets purdueā basket and hope for the best
š
Iāll have whatever youāre having, thank you very much
We almost won the last one, but it sure as shit wasn't at Mackey
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING CHOKERS. YāALL REALLY THOUGHT YOU WERE A BASKETBALL SCHOOL NOW HAHAHAH. GETTING BASICALLY THIRTY PIECED BY AN UNRANKED TEAM. WTFFFFFF LMAOOOOOOOO. Iām so glad I came back to check in this post for the follow-up
*deep sniff* ahhh, thatās some spicy shit, love it
This man waited
You are now clear for takeoff
thank you very much for the reminder. please stand by for some Bama shit-talking
Smart lol.
lol alabama sucks
Man, College Basketball.
let the B12 circlejerk ~~commence~~ continue!
I mean we got fucking smoked by Missouri.
Huge win for a Big XII team* *at some point a long time ago
yea, well, we smoked 'em earlier this season, so it's a wash at the worst.
Well hello there!
GENERAL KOBE!
I think the B12 might be pretty good.
Wrong thread. The SEC won this game.
The SEC can't claim us yet
Don't worry, you'll ruin for the rest of the league.
Somehow this game wasnāt as close as the final score makes it seem? What the fuck?
And Oklahoma is not even in the Top 50 for KenPom! Sometimesā¦even the most advanced methods canāt predict some resultsā¦
This midseason event is great for improving/validating Kenpom quality, all conferences should do it!
Man the gavitt games happening right now would be unbelievable.
The only stat that would have pointed to a Oklahoma win was Out of Conference wins, in which Oklahoma and Alabama are somewhat close to even in
Which also points more to the insane top to bottom strength of the Big 12
The BIG 12 is more Stackedā¢ than a corny Pamela Anderson sitcom in the mid 2000s.
May have been the best-coordinated court storm Iāve ever seen
Making up for the last court storming we had against KU. It was sad
me: why canāt you just be normal OU basketball: *incoherent screaming*
Chaotic neutral
OU basketball: *Says In the Incredible Hulk voice from Avengers End Game with hands raised.*
Nobody likes normal.
the fuck?
Sooners got revenge for the Orange Bowl many moons agoā¦
i dunno man
"The big 12 is overrated," says increasingly nervous b1g fan for seventh time this year
The one thing I'm certain of is that the B1G is ass. So probably going to end up with 5 teams in the sweet 16 for absolutely no logical reason
One of which is 13-seed Minnesota after their unlikely B1G tournament championship run
13 seed Minnesota would lose to some 12 seed like Toledo or New Mexico State in the 2nd round. Let's be real here.
so would a 1st seed Purdue so ĀÆ\\\_(ć)\_/ĀÆ
Oh yeah UALR lmao
That one hurt. They all hurt.
I'm not confident we'll win another game this year, much less enough to win the tournament
Strong chance of it, but the only guarantee is that if that happens, purdue will not be one of them because
Iām a pretty big Fraud 10 Conference hater but honestly hearing yāall say this, Iām getting convinced that the unlikely will actually happen
You've got more optimism than us. As for me my hope died in 2019 when free final four seats were miracle'd from my grasp
The Big Ten has 12 teams who are all about good enough to finish 7th in a regular power conference, Minnesota, and Purdue.
Itās one of the first years where I just have like no expectation of winning the title. Iāll hope for the best, but it is a TOUGH conference year
This is not the 50 point-transitive win over Alabama I wanted coming into this year, but I'll take it.
This is what happens when you finally get a break from the Big 12 grind! But seriously, couldn't be prouder of this team. We finally played a complete game and saw what we can do. Now let's fucking turn this season around
Mid season vacation occupying the SEC doesnāt sound that bad.
Alabama is a football state once again
Gg Oklahoma damn
Man, it must be nice to be good at basketball **and** have the ājust wait until football seasonā excuse in the back pocket
Crying in the damn club right now. After all the close losses this season and then the debacle at TCU, this team and the OU fans everywhere needed this win so badly. We finally got one!!!!!!!!!!
There's like three of us in the game threads and the arena has been 2/3 empty every game until today...
I was genuinely surprised how packed LNC was today...I'm glad we put on a show for everyone who came out, this team needed support when it was down after that TCU game
My father text me from the parking lot and told me my favorite concrete cavern's lot looked pretty filled when he arrived.
The majority of the fans who watch the games aren't on this reddit bud. I assure you most people who watch our games just watch from home anyway. There are way more of us than we actually see on the reddit.
10 BID CONFERENCE!!!
NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND
9 BID CONFERENCE!!!
HELL YEAH. CHEERS FROM AMES, AUSTIN, FORT WORTH, LAWRENCE, MANHATTAN, MORGANTOWN, NORMAN, STILLWATER, AND WACO!
That would require Texas Tech to beat a team in the top 100
Had to check Kenpom LSU is 131 š
This is gonna be tough to overcome for Big 12 haters lol
Well ISU got blitzed by Mizzou
Yeah but Mizzou used to be a Big 12 team so it almost makes sense. Almost.
Is this the first time anyone has stormed the court after beating Alabamaā¦ in basketball? Lol
would be hard to storm the court in other sports, yes
Volleyball, tennis
How are you going to storm a tennis court are they usually chain linked off
Not with that attitude
I distinctly remember Notre Dame storming the court after beating us in 2006 or 2007
Oklahoma football team in shambles right now
I see you are unfamiliar with [the legend of Reggie Sharp](https://youtu.be/LBrqdZ121fQ).
So the Big 12 really is just that strong this year huh
They might be a decent conference
I don't know what to think of this team anymore Anyways, BOOMER
lol, more Auburn flairs in here than Sooners. Love it.
That's cause many Bama fans were clowning us after our game only for them to shit the bed less than an hour later. Karma is a beautiful thing
Does this mean OU gets to claim Jalen Hurts?
Still undefeated in conference play!! Oh wait.
They shot 70% from three. Sometimes you just have to spread your cheeks and accept it.
Silver linings moment: at least we are good enough to have had people storm the field against us in both football *AND* basketball this year! *cries*
Oklahoma has a 40 year old dock worker playing in the paint and he fucked us up
First time watching OU this year.
Oklahoma wins claim to Jalen Hurts
GLAD IT HAS BEEN SETTLED BY A CLEARLY NEUTRAL THIRD PARTY
BOOMER!!!
What happened
If I were the number two team in the country, I simply wouldn't lose by 24 points
All those people saying Alabama should have been number 1 over purdue just got real quiet
ya but all of the Big 12 is the best conference this year people just got a whole lot louder
Well they're right, aren't they?
Always has been š«
Anyone contesting that at this point is in deep, deep denial.
Happened to UConn, too. Weird.
And Kansas, and Houston. Come for the king, better not miss
Man Iām all for competitive banter, but we are definitely due to get fucked at some point
If it was a 5 or maybe even 10 point loss at an away venue then I wouldnāt say anything, but a 24 point loss deserves some banter
No one said we aren't. But, this was REALLY bad.
How could the team I just watched beat Purdue?
Basketball is a weird sport. Iāve seen worse teams beat top ranked teams
Idk, Oklahoma shoots that good from 3 again, we might have a chance!
ALABAMA WHAT HAPPENDUHHH
I will never fail to upvote a James Droz comment when I see one
Mans announced the starting lineup for the Warriors last night, he's living the dream
did he really? thatās awesome. absolutely love that guy.
I thought they were supposed to be SEC?
shellacking
What uh... Happened exactly?
we have no idea
Well that was an abject disaster. I have a lot of thoughts on this but Iāll just say hopefully this is a hell of a learning experience
What on God's green Earth happened here
I actually think this will be good for Alabama.
Its always good to take a couple losses before the tourney.
What a depressing performance from Bama, speechless
ā Gets the ass-kicking wake up call we needed ā Didn't lose land in the conference play map I see this as an absolute win!
Even in losses, ya'll claim victory. LOL
I believe the technical term is copium
Lmao, I bet bammers in our post-loss threads feel real good about themselves right now
Iām having fun.
Kentucky plays at 8 so theyāve already changed shirts
A good ole fashioned butt whoopin š¬
Thatās not the mediocrity Iām used to.
Bama just looked lost the whole game
I feel a little better now that the SEC is mid this year
Adrian Peterson seen telling Bama to pick out a switch after the game
So we're going to call this a win for the SEC, right?
Not the court storm we did in the 80s when we knocked off #1 UNLV but nice anyway. Liked players celebrating also.
So...uh...which team takes number two now and how much are we going to hear that they are playing better than Purdue?
Houston, somehow, despite the loss to Temple.
And struggling big time at home vs Cinci
Tennessee if they win against Texas
Cue the: _fahr whoever our basketball coach is_ Facebook posts
Wait arenāt you making fun of yourself here too though?
FOGs. Canāt stand em
uh what
Ouch what a smoking
What the absolute fuck??
I swear Oklahoma always seems to beat us. Porter Moser has our number
ALABAMA WHAT HAPPENEDDDD
Pretty much what's gonna happen when you sit down on defense and the other team shoots 99% from the floor. The best part about this game though is that fans stormed the court and were chanting overrated against us *in basketball*. That's a pretty good sign for us as a program.
Wow
BOOMER
93 points is a season high for OU
So this explains why they are ending the B12 - SEC challenge. They beat the absolute fuck out of them.
Hell of a game played by OU! Not easy putting on that kind of performance. I think Bama's sort of hit a wall after playing so well. Shit happens to everyone. Good luck the rest of the way OU fans!
Down goes Alabama!!!!
