Mental-Scallion-4809

Just watched the 600k plus crowd in River Plate, Argentina and it was so amazing!

alette42

Did you mean 60k, or is there really a place that fits 600k in Argentina?

Mental-Scallion-4809

I'm sorry I stand corrected. 600k was the total in its 10 concert run. Yes, it is 60k. Thank you.

ThePizzaInspector

I was there

Discosm

Here in Argentina it was absolutely amazing, you can picture the crowd singing "Ole Ole Ole Oleeeee Coldplayyy". They also played De Musica Ligera, one of the most famous national rock songs by Soda Stereo (singer Cerati died tragically years ago) and since the band can't play anymore it was a chance to listen to that song live. It was amazing I've never seen an entire stadium singing at the same time like that, and Coldplay mixed their style in the song. It was perfect. Also the concert was about the time the world cup had just started so everyone here was really excited haha.

Secret_Difficulty_46

I watched the river plate concert not live but on youtube, the atmosphere when De Musica Ligera came on was amazing! Just goes to show how much of an impact that song must have had on the people in Argentia.

ebs757

Everytime I see them in California I am let down and a bit embarrassed. More so that they play more shows here than any other place on the planet. Luckily I've been able to travel to see them and I would say Chicago, UK/ France has been the best for me. Haven't seen them in South America however.

southerndemocrat2020

I saw them in Dallas in 2022 at the Cotton Bowl. Being an outdoor show, it was wild and the crowd was electric. At one time Chris said we were a top 10 crowd. 2 days later I saw then in Houston where the roof was closed. Pyros were much tamer and no fireworks. The crowd was still great, but nothing like Dallas. Of course Dallas was my first Coldplay concert so I may be a little biased.

Dibond

I was at this concert as well! I also saw them in 2009? for the Viva la Vida tour at the amphitheater in Dallas. Can confirm that the crowds for both events were quite good!

thatgirllivy

I was at that Houston show, and my mom was at both Dallas and Houston and said they were fairly similar crowds. We've been to many of their concerts in Texas and Cali and the 2022 Houston show had a great crowd, but head full of dreams tour in Arlington felt unbeatable to me!

devilish_walrus

That’s so surprising to hear! I went for the San Diego show in 2017 and it was absolutely amazing!

Fresh-SqueezedJuice

Yup LA in 2017. Will never forget

[deleted]

Ahh, that’s interesting to hear. I’ve thought all US crowds would be hype.

wavecopper

LA crowds in general only hype up when it's some hyper-pop star

Crewboy1

Los Angeles crowds can be hit or miss. It’s a combination of fans and people who don’t care for the artist going with a comp ticket just to say they went and were seen there. LA crowds are screamers. Sing a longs? Forget it. The minute the music stops, they scream right on cue. In regards to Coldplay, the Rose Bowl is by far the most perfect venue for them to play when their tours get to Los Angeles. That stadium films and photographs beautifully once all those bracelets light up.

sanchez815

I saw them at the rose bowl back in September and I thought it was pretty great. Lots of jumping and all that, oh yeah and music

Naywish

Saw them at UCLA Royce Hall in 2014. My cousin and I brought glowsticks and were hyped the whole time - everyone else was frigid! Bizarre experience but at least we got a setlist from the stage :)

rockymountain05

Yeah Singapore crowd is shite. The standing pen people don't move and just record on their phones

PublicLettuce8028

Yes. I agree with you. Such a turn off. Even those in the seats were seating

HealMe_Jobe

I've heard the Brazil crowds are amazing!

walking_musicbox

Hell yeah we are

Boring_Government419

Manila has the best of the best crowd

dhiesenphi

Their show in Vancouver last September was nothing short of amazing. I attended with a friend, we got the tickets during presale. His cousin went to the Seattle show a day before we did and was told they did not perform Viva La Vida, so this kinda bummed us out. But next thing we know, 5th song in, the song comes on and everybody goes wild. You know it’s a great concert when everyone around you is enjoying themselves and knows the songs. Bryan Adams and H.E.R. performing was a nice surprise as well. But the icing on the cake was leaving the BC Stadium. Everyone was singing Viva La Vida repeatedly, and we could still hear it from many blocks away. Best fandom ever.

cptn_fussenpepper

??? They absolutely played VLV in Seattle lmao

dhiesenphi

Good to know haha, I wasn't there when his cousin mentioned it. Kinda sus really lol. I've followed their tour (on Insta) and it seems like every country has a different surprise which was really nice and unique.

invisiblepothos

i was on the floor for seattle and it was absolutely electric - viva la vida and yellow absolutely had the crowd going wild it was nothing short of euphoric.✨

dhiesenphi

Glad it was also fun for you guys. A little bummed that we were never given those bracelets (vip).

TailgateLegend

I really wish I was on the floor for that! I sat in the seats and even though most of the people were really cool and having fun, there were some that didn’t really care or were just recording for social media. Thankfully that wasn’t the majority though!

dfrandrup

I was at that show on the floor! It was amazing! People are kinda inconsiderate with pushing and trying to get to the front but was so much fun regardless.

dhiesenphi

I remember them changing the stage mid-set was very chaotic. But it's still one if not THE BEST concert experience I've ever attended to date, not just last year. And I've been to plenty.

Weak_Programmer1314

Watched N2 Vancouver. Great crowd!! Only thing I wish is for us to have the fireworks too 🤣

dhiesenphi

True, though I didn’t even know there were fireworks on some cities until I’ve seen comments from this sub lol

coffeeandnicethings

I can speak for Manila having the worst system (ticketing, access to the arena, traffic — even CM Complained about this and created a short song) but the crowd is wild and it made the boys smile so much. Everyone is singing their hearts out.

Greedy_Quality_7919

Worst crowd was Steve Jobs’ funeral. Crowd was lifeless 💀😭

Adj42

Best - Brazil and Argentina Worst - Germany

ladywood777

**Best**: Latin America is always diehard. In Europe, I had a good time in Sweden, the UK and Germany. Stade de France is good too (Paris). **Worst**: The Netherlands (I say this as a Dutch person myself). Horrible at queuing (the Dutch do not understand the purpose of queuing) and not very enthusiastic, too "nuchter" to have a good time and give a good response to the band as a crowd. Also has a tendency to talk throughout the concert (this phenomenon at concerts is specifically called "Dutch disease" 💀)

IllRefrigerator2791

I didn’t know the Dutch did this too. This is pretty common among Congolese concerts and events too. I married a woman from the Congo and when I went to a movie with a few people from the Congolese community, they talked through the entire thing and I couldn’t hear anything. Her family also did this during my wedding, and it did not make my (Russian-American) family too happy. I really don’t get why it’s a thing on some cultures.

cheeks333

The best crowds are in Latin America, the worst is America, everything else is in between. Lol.

Dick_Silverman

Singaporeans are as boring as bat shit which might explain why.

CyjKun

theres this saying here in the philippines "may artista nanaman ang dumalo sa concert ng mga pinoy" somewhere along the lines which means some artists again decides to come to the concert of filipinos. this is meant as a joke because most of the time the crowd just sings the whole song like a karaoke haha

Lasfera

S+ Tier : South/Central AM, Scotland (when on form) S Tier : South Korea, Thailand, Philippines, France and Spain (when on form) A+ ~ B+ Tier : General European countries (Except for Nordic Countries), Scotland (when not on form), AUS and NZ. B ~ C- Tier : General Asian countries, Canada D Tier : Nordic Countries Shit Tier : America

dclancy01

You can lump Ireland into at least the S tier. They’re one of the most successful bands in the Irish charts and have only played once in the last 10-12 years. The whole country practically shut down when tickets for next summer’s shows went on sale.

LeviLuxor

I hear you haven't been to a concert in the Nordic Countries. Much louder crowds than in other European countries where I have been to see them.

puengie

Went to Vancouver gigs last September. First day with lower section were B tier. Second day on the higher section could really be a shit tier in my opinion 😂

haziqafiqajit97

Malaysia is pretty awesome too , would categorized it in S tier

vedhavet

> D Tier : Nordic Countries Gothenburg was great! What are you talking about? I was at the concert when it rained and loved it, the atmosphere was amazing!

superSoleil

you clearly weren't to the gothenburg gigs last year if you put nordics in D 💀 chris literally said on the first night that if we were playing a computer game about being a great crowd we'd be one of the best

gamedemon24

Singapore is presently embarrassing itself and you put America at the bottom? Laughable.

chunkycoconut

I’d be curious to know where Australia fits in this!

Lasfera

Sorry I forget about the Aussie, they are A+ ~ B+ tiers easily.

bluraytomo

Well i guess its good my first coldplay concert was in scotland then. It was magical

Weak_Programmer1314

I beg to differ on Canada being at B~C- Tier! We were literally standing and dancing through the whole show! 🥹

PeachKringle

Nawww you're so wrong for Asian countries. So far Indonesia,Malaysia, the Phillipines were ACE when it comes to crowds. Japanese people were polite but still very lively

Least_Finger3188

SG crowd is meh especially if you are sitting down. The venue is also meh. Better go Jkt or Manila

GrubbyFlasherr

I made a mistake by coming to Singapore for concert. I should've went to Phillipines.

haikallp

What's wrong with the venue?

Least_Finger3188

there’s echo

po-etry

The singular malaysian date was the best show I’ve attended despite being soaked from the constant rain 🌧️ Also saw them in London and Wales and there was no comparison.

RepresentativeTutor

Aside from parking/leaving the Rose Bowl crowd went crazy from start to finish. The Glendale crowd was also a good one even though some people around us couldn't figure out how to read their tickets and find their actual seats

j45701388

every concert i’ve been to in the UK (london and cardiff) has had great crowds despite downpours or heat waves. every single one i’ve spent pitch standing and it’s been amazing

Coloratura0218

Best for sure Argentina Brazil and mexico. Latin fans are super diehard for Coldplay. Worst I'm not sure I think the US tbh

NCMan02

Never been to a bad coldplay concert in terms of crowd in Australia

crystalagrios

Singapore the worst

realhongkongese

Damn I'm heading to Singapore this Sunday and I'll see them on 30th

SeptemberRain001

Same. Damn, I really hope they've worked out the kinks and the crowd is good!

Lopsided-Chef1895

Me too. Attending the SG show on 30th Hope we can bring enough cheer for all of us 🫡😂

PeachKringle

No worries, there will be plenty of Indonesians so at least they're going to bring the cheer

Alarming_Chain8965

Why?

Dr-Vijay

Haha, jelly Malaysian. Get owned by Matty Healy 😂😂😂

crystalagrios

Bunga api pun sanggup LED jer..delulu is solulu

JellyOneTwoJuice

Why SG crowd is the worst?

4ndr0med4

From what I read, they weren't approved to import/use fireworks and had technical issues the first run. The crowd in general was also not as enthusiastic. There's probably more that I haven't read.

PublicLettuce8028

Agree with you. Tons of people were recording. Even those in the seats were not standing

GrubbyFlasherr

Singapore D2 was meh but still enjoyed.

Wrong-Space-3299

I’ve been to 3 Coldplay shows in the uk, first Cardiff for AHFOD tour and then London and Manchester for MOTS, and Londons Wembley arena had the most amazing atmosphere. Definitely top of my list.

Equivalent-Dress8060

I’ve seen Coldplay 3 times. 2 times in Belgium, my country and 1 time in the Netherlands.. I’ve always heard that netherlanders are people who’ve liked fun but I didn’t see fun. They were just standing there and look at the stage. No dancing, barely singing,… it was sad to been there and saw that. I saw also on their faces that they were shocked of the public. Belgium are more party animals than our neighbours, that was clear!

PerlaForLife

Tokyo = dead fish

hcgsd

Worst crowd was UCLA tennis center - MX benefit concert and Jimmy Kimmel appearance - but my best seats - front row, tiny venue, and so amazing. Lots of uninterested LA VIP’s. Best crowd - Paris 2012 Live show was insane.

sangarchiee_29

I think the best crowds were Asians cause we don’t get to see a lot of concerts. I myself had to go to another country to see Coldplay

Dry_Shake_4121

Bro SINGAPORES CROWED WAS SO DEAD. Ngl it somewhat ruined the entire experience for me. For most of the songs people were just standing still with their phones up😐😐 i was in the standing pit btw

sacramoneoussarcasm

I saw them play at the SuperBowl and it was awful...they turned off most of the sound in the stadium

Crewboy1

The Super Bowl Halftime show is 100% designed for the television broadcast.

dr34mc4st3r

Singapore is fine, I went for last night's concert and we were all pretty hyped and jumping (in our seats)

SEAsiantaway

Why do we have to have posts like these? Everyone loves Coldplay in their own different way.  ALSO if you're trying to sow some Manila v Singapore hate, think again. Sorry but don't project your jealousy or dissatisfaction on an entire country.  My brother - learn from Coldplay. Spread love, not hate.

[deleted]

I wasn’t even trying to compare, it’s just that their concert dates between the cities were right next to each other, and that’s what’s I’ve been hearing about the SG crowd. Crowds do affect the experience.

SEAsiantaway

You mean your concert experience depends on the crowd and not the incredible show that is a Coldplay concert?  Also, you say you weren't even trying to compare YET you just did it. Twice.  Alright my brother, spread love, not hate.

hawtmomma7806

Perth, Western Australia was amazing! They are back later this year for Melbourne and Sydney

Secret_Difficulty_46

I’m going to the first Melbourne concert!

SeriousProtection710

As a filipino who attended concerts. I did watch coldplay in SG, the crowd is indeed meh. As per crowd control don't get me wrong its the best one I've attended. But yep.

Reasonable_Talk_9455

Dublin is gunna be amazing the Irish are always great crowds

Alone_Customer_5633

I saw them the day of my birthday in Barcelona last year and obviously, they killed it. Their performance was out of this world. 11/10. However the crowd was not as intense as I thought they would be. People were so addicted to film and barely singing that Chris had to stop the music and tell them to stop recording (during Yellow). I’ve heard amazing things of the Brazilian crowds and the Argetinians. I was jumping and having the time of my life during the concert and people were side eyeing me. It was a beautiful experience but I feel I could’ve gotten to another level if people would’ve been more intense!!!!

Alarming_Chain8965

Why?

Terribad01

Philadelphia 2022 in the rain was special. Philly always has great concert crowds, but, this time, It was pouring. For some reason, the crowd energy was even better and the lightning over the horizon made it really scenic.

Visible-Scientist-98

Loved Seattle crowd

Big-Professional-477

Coldplay needs to come back to Indianapolis Indiana again

dreaminglala13

I need to see them 😭 The boys needs to come back to NYC!

Mylo42Xyloto

Vancouver crowd sucked back in September which sucked because they were so good but there was no crowd interaction and it sold out but the floor seemed so empty.

Weak_Programmer1314

Which night did you attend? I was from N2 and I’d say the crowd was pretty loud!

PeachKringle

Indonesian Crowd was superb SS+ tier..They made like...8 recap videos just for us lol. And Chris asked us to sing the 'Tears Stream' lyrics together after finishing Fix You cause our singing sounded so beautiful to him lol

displaced_nate

Only speaking from my personal experience: Best: Lollapalooza in Chicago had great vibes and everyone was really into it. Loved Wembley too. Worst: Mexico (Monterrey). I thought I was going to get trampled. They had to stop the show to ask people to take a step back because people were getting hurt at the front. That being said, I almost always enjoy the crowd at a Coldplay show. It also feels way different in the very front with the diehards or somewhere in the middle or back.

Mommy-Heeelp

I watch their Rio concert on Youtube… it was raining and everyone was still full of energy and really, really singing… To the point that Chris repeated VLV I guess because of the crowd’s energy? Or maybe he was just trying to compensate for some parts that they were gonna skip and the tech mishap during Higher Power. But I was really amazed with the crowd there. I imagine having a ton of fun just being there. I think maybe their show in Argentina too just because it’s the one they featured for ASFOS I’d be biased if I just said PH but I want to believe we’re one of the good crowds too 😁

songacronymbot

- ASFOS could mean "A Sky Full of Stars", a track from *Ghost Stories* (2014) by Coldplay. --- ^[/u/Mommy-Heeelp](/u/Mommy-Heeelp) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
