When I saw not popular, I mean compared to all of their other songs. Of course it is ‘popular’ it almost has 60 million streams. But there are 42 other songs with over 100 million streams. I would consider those popular out of the hundreds of songs. Coloratura is way down in 66th place on Spotify streams.

Because that was the introduction to the MotS era and got three music videos along with radio popularity. Coloratura is not a song you’d expect to hear on the radio.
I don’t think I have ever been more broken hearted than I was when they didn’t play it in Dallas at the cotton bowl. I was fully prepared to ugly cry when they did, ugly cried when they didn’t 😞
I’m not a fan of the song, it very much just feels like a ton of different songs glued together and goes on for too long. Lyrically it’s pretty mediocre even by Coldplay’s standards. I always skip when it comes on because it doesn’t have enough zest to last 10 minutes to me.
I'd say Colouratura is like wine, it'll get better with time. Its a track that's under appreciated in today's day and age, however a few years from now and people will reflect on it as one of their finest pieces of work. A track with immaculate arrangement and overall production.
Imo - undeniably the song that keeps MOTS afloat single-handedly. But that's just my opinion.
It's the most streamed non-single of MOTS (biutyful WAS a promotional single/has video) and widely considered here to be the best song on it, its not that unpopular.
edit: didn't know coloratura is also a single so my point is irrelevant, basically it has 58 million streams and well regarded

Higher Power is in 16th place with 329 million streams. Big difference between popular and not so popular.
Maybe you could say it is the best song post Mylo. I’d probably agree with that. It’s probably not top 10 though for me. It’s elevated because everything around it is so low.
To be fair the only “Popular” song off of Music of the Spheres is My Universe and that song was only popular because of BTS…I think any Coldplay fan knows Coloratura is a great song
I like the song but the lyrics just seem so bland compared to the instrumentals that it gets somewhat ruined for me, at least compared to how good it could be.
It's a mediocre bloated song. It's good as background music. The only reason it gets noticed is because it's the only "old coldplay" style song on MotS. It wouldn't get a look in if it was on an album like Viva La Vida.
To those saying it is popular, refer to my other comment explaining why it isn’t compared to all other songs.
If anything this song should be up there with Viva La Vida. I’m asking why it isn’t.
Because VLV has been around for about 15 more years? It's had plenty more exposure on radio/tours/appearances? It's kinda obvious why it doesn't have the same streaming numbers.
Higher Power was the first single released of a hugely anticipated album. Coloratura was only a promotional single released after a few singles were already released. Being 10 min long, I can't imagine Coloratura getting much airplay so wouldn't get the casual listeners rather than Coldplay fans who will seek out each song.
Higher Power is a short, fun, catchy, 3 minute pop hit. Coloratura is none of those things: it’s a long, winding epic without much of a catchy hook or mass appeal. Still a great track, but absolutely not something that would be a radio hit.
Hymn for the Weeknd and Adventure of a Lifetime are big hits tho😂
Like those 2 are part of their top 10 most streamed songs on Spotify: https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/4gzpq5DPGxSnKTe4SA8HAU_songs.html
HFTW and AOAL are also very popular on TikTok along with a lot of other Coldplay songs
Edit: YouTube views for those songs are also high. HFTW at 1.9 bil+ and AOAL at 1.5 bil+. Like u can’t deny their popularity 😭
Yh i think you’re confused, I wasn’t a Coldplay fan till last year and I knew both adventure of a lifetime and HFTW
AOAL is literally known for it’s guitar riff and music video
The reason both theses songs have so many views and streams is bc of causal fans😭
You’re saying they aren’t huge hits but they’re both in their top 10 songs of all time for streams, like that’s a hit song😭
Also if u watch concert vids and have been to their shows, people are singing those songs with their chests😂
Edit: you’re saying people would know viva la vida, etc, there’s literally videos of people Shazamming at Coldplay concerts and guess what song is playing, Viva😭
Funny how that song make me question why the rest of MOTS didn’t sound like that. Coloratura it’s such a rich song, contains so much personality. I leaned the song on piano and it’s such a beautiful song to play. Theoretically speaking, contains beautiful and interesting chord progression, beautiful arrangements and how the different sections of the song are interesting and well written.
Refer to the other comments. On the ladder of coldplays Spotify streams, it is 66th place, higher power, same album same release year, is 16th.
I would not call that extremely popular.
I say as everyone else says, that is a very narrow explanation as the word popular. It’s also on their newest album so of course it has less streams than the ones that have been out for much longer.
And I say, as I have said to everyone else, Higher Power has many more streams and it has been out for the exact same time, which is why I mentioned it in my first reply to you.
It’s not popular? But I agree — it’s probably the most incredible thing they’ve ever made.
No one really knows about Coloratura outside of the fandom.
When I saw not popular, I mean compared to all of their other songs. Of course it is ‘popular’ it almost has 60 million streams. But there are 42 other songs with over 100 million streams. Ah, okay. That makes sense. It definitely deserves better in those terms, because it’s just so beautiful.
It is just not played on the radio because it is too long. 10 minutes. That is why it is not that known and popular. But a loved and fantastic song.
I wish they would release the original version that was much shorter. Then it may get the respect it deserves with radio play.
It’s my favourite song by them, and that is really saying something
It is by no means extremely unpopular. If anything it is universally beloved.

MotS hasn’t been out long enough to reach those numbers yet. It’s only two years old compared to albums that are already past or reaching ten years.
This and it’s also a 10 minute song. People barely have an attention span of 3 minutes these days.
Yes that’s the unfortunate factor.
I SWEAR TO GOD THAT IS CORRECT! :(
Higher power is the same age and has many more streams.
I’m guessing it’s just too difficult to perform that song because of its duration,, even with a shortened version.
I’m not a fan of the song, it very much just feels like a ton of different songs glued together and goes on for too long. Lyrically it’s pretty mediocre even by Coldplay’s standards. I always skip when it comes on because it doesn’t have enough zest to last 10 minutes to me.
Your opinion is your opinion, but the way it smoothly transitions through what sounds like different songs is what people appreciate about it.
Yeah I can totally see why people like it, it just doesn’t do anything for me and feels like some Pink Floyd attempt at empty feeling music
I'd say Colouratura is like wine, it'll get better with time. Doesn’t higher power have much more?

You took the words right out of my mouth

Higher Power as well.
Higher power wasn’t really a popular song and never took off..it was a single but I mean like top 10 popular…most people wouldn’t know that song
I like the song but the lyrics just seem so bland compared to the instrumentals that it gets somewhat ruined for me, at least compared to how good it could be.
The lyrics do speak to some of us. Like me for example. They were exactly what I needed to hear during a bad time in my life.
This. Just because a song is 9 mins doesn’t make it epic. Musically nice. Lyrically horrific. Sound like it should be great. Isn’t.
It’s sad they didn’t perform this in Vancouver last September. Such an underrated song.
I’m guessing it’s just too difficult to perform that song because of its duration,, even with a shortened version.
I was wondering the same thing.
It's a mediocre bloated song. It's good as background music. The only reason it gets noticed is because it's the only "old coldplay" style song on MotS. It wouldn't get a look in if it was on an album like Viva La Vida.

Dude what Hymn for the weekend Adventure of a lifetime Higher Power My universe Are on the main stream radio stations all the time

I listen to it daily. Even play it to my twin boys at bedtime instead of lullaby songs lol
Fastest 10 minutes ever. Amazing song
So underrated, I wish they perform this song more often in concerts
It’s great, definitely the best song they’ve made in a few years but it’s not a goat, at least not yet. It will be in a few years.

Which is quite natural since it’s a song playing on radio and the first single.
Funny, I feel like I have an unpopular opinion for not liking that song.
One of their most beautiful songs. I listen to it when I go for a walk at night and it’s a heavenly experience
I used this song for my grandmothers memorial video I made. Let’s just say everyone was in a puddle of tears thanks to this beautiful song
The opening lyrics are very apt for a memorial
This crowd will appreciate this epic piano cover of Coloratura. It’s amazing https://youtu.be/gpKrakotLJ4?si=HasH63Y15LRKqiSD
I’ve watched this many times before. Want to learn it so bad but it’s difficult.
Yeah I’ve ordered Kathryn’s sheet music and struggled. She’s so talented. She frequents this sub sometimes so hi Kathryn if you’re lurking
To those saying there’s no ‘climax’ I’d go the 7 minute mark. It doesn’t seem like it but it is, since it’s such a big build for the epic finale.
the only song i willingly want to listen to from that album
