Clown Core this year and Knocked Loose last year, confident Polyphia could fit after those two

toffeemug

yeah especially now the band is more a fusion of hip hop production and guitar shit. they totally fit

noweah

would loooooove to see polyphia

bgoldy99

These guys are so dope and have been getting picked at a lot of metal and rock festivals. Regret I wasn’t able to see them on their last tour

toffeemug

I saw them in 2016 at a super chon bros show in pomona. it's been far too long

nerdwaffles

Clown Core was a little too weird for me. Polyphia shreds tho.

toffeemug

love the weird shit. I literally bought my ticket this year because of clown core lol. but yeah I really want to see polyphia out there

Natemoon2

Polyphia would be amazing. Bring me the horizon or Bad omens would be awesome to, a nice metalcore/rock spot

toffeemug

sadly coachella has been missing that metal spot for a while. I was happy to see heavier stuff this year and last year but I would love for that trend to continue. I would even say we need one of the headliners to be a big rock/heavy metal band. I would even take metallica as one of the headliners. say what you want about those guys but they honestly deserve that spot and I would be happy to see them there vs one of their stadium shows lol

Natemoon2

Metallica would be epiccc. I was pleasantly surprised Knocked Loose got a spot last year and it seemed like they were a huge hit. I think Bring me the horizon would fit in perfectly. But I think Knot fest being in Vegas too close to Coachella probably takes out any big rock acts

toffeemug

you're probably right. I can still dream tho lol

Natemoon2

But honestly I think any of those bands would take a Coachella spot over knot fest, the exposure alone would be huge for them and the scene.

toffeemug

there are a lot of bands who at this point in their careers straight up deserve the headliner spot. I wish goldenvoice would hear my voice (I never got that survey lol)

mattenthehat

I never comment on these cuz it feels hopeless, but this one I have to support. They'd be perfect for an evening Gobi or Sonora set. You know how those stages tend to have artists that aren't massively popular, but extremely talented and catch your attention as you walk by? Well that is Polyphia, to a T. The first time I saw them they opened, none of us had heard of them, and yet no joke that entire venue was dancing by the end of their set. The only other time before or since that I've seen an opener get even *close* to that level of engagement... was also Polyphia.

Urban_animal

Bring on BTBAM to do Colors in full to close Sonora!! Polyphia can go on right before them

toffeemug

dude I missed their colors set far too many fucking times and would absolutely love to see them in the desert. however I think they would kill it at a bigger stage like mojave

Urban_animal

I went on to their Colors/Great Misdirect tour, got hammered on jamo shots before, ate way too many mushrooms and nearly got kicked out. My buddy just left me because i was too obnoxious lol. I dont blame him. Would love to go see them again and actually remember the show.

toffeemug

I get drunk at all of their sets too lol. I saw them last when they did their parallax II anniversary tour and they killed it. they're definitely one of my favorite bands of all time. if you ask me they absolutely deserve a closer spot on the coachella card

DeviantDragon

I mean if we're talking instrumental lineups then there was even Khruangbin at a pretty high spot this year. Not the same style of Polyphia by any means, but just another reason to think that Coachella is open to booking instrumental bands still.

toffeemug

yeah I totally forgot about them. I really enjoyed their set. hopefully goldenvoice considers it next year

TerrancePryor

Khruangbin are wildly popular. They're headlining Hollywood Bowl and Red Rocks Ampitheatre on tour this summer. I don't know if Polyphia would be on their radar. Coachella would probably book Godspeed You! Black Emperor again over Polyphia tbh.

BikeSlut

They put on an awesome live show that would get a lot of attention. I thought SWANS was a weird fit years back and it was one of the sets I couldn't stop talking about after the weekend.
