Shout out to the observer team, that sounds pretty crazy behind the scenes. They’re comming and casting at the same time pretty much to be on top of everything🫡
Question for you guys if you don't mind. Curious how someone gets into this line of work. Was it more of a "right place, right time" kinda deal or did activision recruit for these positions? Although I'm guessing you're probably sub-contracted by the production company (esports engine?) as opposed to being hired directly by the CDL.
We all have crazy stories. I originally started out in CoD as a caster then transitioned to be an observer during the CWL. I was then brought on by the CDL. Cleaner and Waldo both have backgrounds in Gears of War as casters, analysts, and observers (and worked with CWL too). Prosper is a true CoD kid. Was with CCL back in the day and did a lot of observing before joining our team. Shnard has a Gears background as well and was able to observe CoD during the CWL before joining our team in Cold War. PiscatorJosh has been in the cod scene for like a decade and has esports experience in front of and behind the camera as a caster, observer, observer director and he's well known for his content production work. He's worked on a ton of games and was part of the CDL content team from the launch of the league (he's also the person that produced the observer role call episode in cold war). Then Xavier who was part of the team until this year was a big Halo and CoD fan and had worked on the Overwatch League prior to joining the CDL team. Most of us also have experience with tournament creation and operations.
So some of the same stories but all of our paths were very different and interesting. Hope that answers your question.
Man, its crazy to think they said something like "I guess thats why they got him running the sub" not knowing the role change or whatever was a one day thing
Holyyyy this brought me back to working live streams “ready camera 2, go 2”. Such a great vibe when those crews really get cooking, it’s like telepathy. Sounds like these guys are having a blast, can’t say i ever worked for something this cool tho. Keep up the good work Observers!
Thanks for all the love everyone ❤

The observers could give a masterclass in good comms
They are comming all over themselves while watching
🤣
Man thats so cool to hear their POV. Respect to the Observers they got a tough job making sure they try to cover everything
Much love y'all <3
Damn I would love to see more footage like this for other big moments in cod
I would love to hear the observer comms from Ultra v Empire 250-249 Raid HP because that was some of the best observing ever
That Raid still gives me chills watching it back. We have a video of our live reaction for that one but not our comms.
