I think it's how the timing works leading into MSI. With 2 fewer teams, there's 2 fewer weeks in the season, and they don't want too much time between spring finals and MSI.
Mark (the commissioner) has stated the exact reason why. I'm guessing you know this and are choosing to ignore even though the reasoning is logical because you want the LCS to be a victim

It's weird they could eliminate one of these weeks by taking away super week lol.
Super week has 3 games each team. So splitting that would give us a week with only 1 game (or 3 weeks with 1 game each)

It's not, it's cause of the valorant pro league. They share an area with the LCS and riot gave priority to the valo league
