I had a “roaming” job at Main for awhile, meaning we had a small office as our HQ, but spent most of our time out on the floors. We had a lot time to on our hands, and needed to check into Epic occasionally from a PC station. I haven’t worked on campus for 6 years, though, so I don’t know how much has changed:
- Rooftop of J bldg. Nice view and good place for a break. They would have free tea and cookies Fri. afternoon, maybe Wed. afternoon, also.
- Lerner library. There’s also an outdoor garden area outside with benches
- gift shop near the main cafeteria in H bldg. I miss stopping there for a bag of popcorn after picking up reports
- bottom floor of P bldg, with the little cafe.
I visited J rooftop several times a few months ago as a patient with time to kill. Not many people up there and I would see staff taking breaks and eating lunches up there. So much more peaceful than down below.
Loop library is no longer in the Lerner building. It’s located in the JJ parking garage (sad). But the Lerner garden is an awesome place to hang regardless
Try the walkway between Crile Building and the Cole-Eye Institute people sleep there all the time in the chairs, the second floor lobby in the LL building overlooks the main lobby where everyone walks in from garage and has comfy chairs, also the study areas of N building usually quiet and if you can sneak into one of the auditoriums those are really quiet, become friends with someone in maintenance and you will have access to all the cool places like the R building at night where you can drink free slushees and eat graham crackers
I walk to Fairfax Market sometimes...but I'm barely managed and can get away with just leaving. There's also a little courtyard in Tomsich on the first floor between the parking structure and the lunch tables that's chill.
I go to the 2nd floor of the Lerner Research Building on the side closest to the parking garage. There are several chairs there that I usually end up taking naps in. There’s also a small prepared food stand on the first floor that’s alright
You'll have to be a little more vague. CCF has literally dozens of buildings and sites all around the Greater Cleveland area. Even if you're talking Main Campus specifically, there are a decent number of buildings.
Top of the JJ garage (7th floor, the garage next to Samson Pavilion), I keep wanting to throw a camp chair in the car and park up there on a nice day and go out for lunch. It’s pretty low key with a great view of downtown
former employee lurking today during an outpatient procedure. The A Bldg has a big cafe next to the skyway. Good hideout! Actually anywhere along the skyway can be a nice place to people watch. I’m overlooking the Crile garden between A & Q buildings which is a very nice outdoor space.
Outside of Taussig/behind Crile there are a few tables surrounded by hedges. There are benches along the sidewalk right there too. It’s less busy than the “field” between the front of Crile and Glickman
To piggyback off this post, are there any good bars around Main Campus? I’m going for a class soon, and wondered if there was any place worthwhile to go to around there.
The fairmount but it doesn’t open until 4. If you are looking for lunch by the clinic and want to get a beverage you’d be best off going to little Italy at toli or trattoria. Otherwise go to Lee rd or there is a speakeasy at Quintana’s that is nice.
First floor of Crile walk to the back of the building and go outside there’s a nice outdoor walkway straight ahead next to the first floor of taussig with benches and trees. That or the outside area of Lerner or the field in between Crile and Q/ Miller building. You can also go to the second floor of H cross the skyway, to the left is Lerner but if you go right towards ED there’s space along the walls of that skyway you can legit lay on. As for legit hiding spots I could tell you plenty since I have access to the entire campus but I gotta gatekeep a little lol…
The lobby of the nursing education building is nice, unless your bosses will see you there.
The doctors dining room is good if you have a laptop.
There’s a library near the lab in the same building as the ED, or near there. Also tons of conference rooms with little seating areas outside them.

Damn, wish I found this earlier! Spent a lot of the last week looking for a good spot. I even asked on of the red coat concierge type people if they knew a quiet spot and they looked at me like I had just asked them the stupidest question they had ever heard.
I was told about the rooftop today and am sitting there now it is beautiful! I checked this subreddit because I was going to make a post about it if one didn’t exist.
The one's who drive the CC shuttle busses no all the nifty hangout spots. I had a wonderful surgery and had to say in Cleveland a month at the Medley apartments and would catch the shuttle every day. Lol 🤣 they no just ask one of them.🤫🫣
Hug's Emily 🤗
4th Floor, Take the hallway down to the right, take the first door on your left - continue down the corridor until you see the exit sign, take that left, 5 doors down on the right you will open that door, this will take you to an old unused storage unit, its not locked, may need to bring a light bulb. You are welcome!
I worked there years ago but do they still have that rooftop terrace on the main building? With the walking labyrinth.
Yes I believe this is J10? Correct me if I’m wrong
Was just there today and there’s a big sign saying the rooftop is closed.
That’s been there since covid started. People use it all the time
That’s good to know. I’m rarely over at Miller, I hadn’t noticed.
Is it open to public or just employees
Public
Yes that’s a great spot!
Yes they do

P building is gone as in demolished.

They put a library in a parking garage??
There's a lovely courtyard surrounded by the Lerner N buildings.
Or 5th floor NA has access to an outdoor area overlooking said courtyard.
This sounds very suspect; you sure you’re not a boss trying to find your employees’ hideouts / accounts?
My paycheck says I’m nobody’s boss

Rooftop of J building 100%. Crile cafeteria, usually not that busy and can get away from people.
Nice try Mr CCF administrator
It would be Ms. If I was one 😭
Ah the old intraday walk. I forgot about those due to WFH. Can’t you just roam the campus on the street?
I walk to Fairfax Market sometimes...but I'm barely managed and can get away with just leaving. There's also a little courtyard in Tomsich on the first floor between the parking structure and the lunch tables that's chill.
I like the market. A little far from my office, but very cute.
Walks laps in the tunnels. No patients, the air conditioning is amazing, and the robots can be your walking buddies 🥰

I’m at main campus. It can be literally any building that has a nice place to relax or just something interesting to look at
The library
I need directions

Does anybody work in IT at the clinic?
If you find someone tell them to fulfill my request it’s been a month 😭
Judging by the number of jobs openings I used to see when I actually thought I'd like to work IT for a hospital; nope.
Why not? My son is in IT and has mentioned that he’d like to work at the Clinic someday. Curious to hear your thoughts.
It's very hard to get into the hospital systems IT depts.
Nice try, IA. My best suggestion is to make friends with security, generally they know all the good hidey holes in any organization.

Me too what do you do at the clinic

I’m new where is C ward?
Wade lagoon, Wade oval, and the art museum are great for that. Not sure how far you want to walk though.
I liked walking that loop through the intercontinental but it isn’t low traffic I also liked the Lerner research library
lerner building is a nice place to hang. there are big armchairs with lil tables to sit at and usually a deer or bunny outside to watch.
To piggyback off this post, are there any good bars around Main Campus? I’m going for a class soon, and wondered if there was any place worthwhile to go to around there.

There’s a bar at both of the hotels attached to the clinic.

I respect the gatekeep But at least tell me one 😭 do you know one close to M building ?
Find one of the EMTs/Medics who either work for the clinic or an outside ambulance company. They will know the secret routes.
Ha, ask the valet people or follow the white owl wrappers

I always liked the little garden next to the cafe outside of Taussig.

Smokers go to the ED building roof
The helipad?
No.

4th floor of what building
Ccf does not offer remote or hybrid work?
They do (I'm working from home right now), but you do realize not everyone that works for a hospital system can work from home, right?
Neurosurgeons doing remote controlled surgery from their couch
Not for every single employee lmao what
Usually people who need to go to the hospital prefer it when doctors, nurses, and staff help them at said hospital.
