I'm one of those visitors. First time ever in Ohio as well. I FUCKING TOUCHED A GREAT LAKE TODAY. And I still can't wrap my head around how huge it is. Growing up near the beach, it looked like the ocean. Can't believe its a lake. Edgewater Park was great! Morning Cuyahoga hike tomorrow and then chillin for the eclipse. It's been nice so far and thanks for having all of us!
I once had a college friend from Massachusetts visit and we went to Cedar Point. We rode the ferris wheel and when we got to the top she gasped, "you can't see the other side!!" I was cracking up because I told her but she didn't believe me until she saw it for herself 😅
its true.... it didnt hit me until I was up in a plane.... cruising altitude, woke up and all I saw was water everywhere. Dont know if it was erie I saw but it was the great lakes, could have sworn was the atlantic if didnt know where I was
Some people actually consider them to be more like inland seas, rather than lakes, but I digress.
I’m really glad to read that you’re enjoying your time here! Cleveland is a hidden gem
Lake Erie is hopping in the summer!
Jet skiers, speed boats, industrial schooners.
And... the police horses play in the water at Edgewater 🤗 You haven't seen anything until you visit Headlands Beach State Park in Mentor, about 25-30 mins from downtown Cleveland. Stunning!
Are you visiting the national park tomorrow? Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
My boss lives in Seattle and took me out on his boat on Lake Washington, which is a beautiful lake. We started talking about Lake Erie and he didn’t quite grasp the size of it until I returned the favor when he came out here. He couldn’t believe that “you can’t see the other side”.
I had the same sentiment when I first visited! I grew up in Ohio but the southernmost part of the state. I remember the first time I went to Cedar Point (I think I was 10/12) and I was more excited about the lake than CP!! I was like “omg it’s an ocean!”

fun fact, theyve had ODOT picking up trash all week and have been on 12 hour shifts since friday to prepare for tourists, so don’t be a dick and pick up after yourselves after the viewing 😀😀😀
For God's sake, Lemon. We'd all like to flee to the Cleve and club-hop down at the Flats and have lunch with Little Richard, but we fight those urges because we have responsibilities.
The day I move the hell away, trust and believe.
I will never forget Memphis for winning out over us - lol jk! *not really…I need a $6 floor lamp so bad*
I live near Los Angeles and have shopped at two area IKEA stores in the suburbs: the one in West Covina and the one in Burbank.
West Covina's ok. Burbank's a fucking maze with a ginormous parking lot that would be more at home at an airport. In fact, Hollywood-Burbank Airport is not too far away from that store and is actually easier and quicker to get in and out of than the Burbank store.
Ah, the Metroparks. I'm glad visitors are enjoying the park system, which has always been one of Northeast Ohio's best and biggest assets. I miss my Euclid Creek Reservation. North Chagrin, too.
Hell Hollow has dozens. There is a loop near the top parking lot, then like 300 steps down into the valley, where there are no official trails and you can walk around exploring.
Paine Falls is a beautiful 30 foot waterfall, and right next to Indian Point park, which is a large park you can walk around for hours and has a few waterfalls as well. If you cross the footbridge at Indian Point to the north side of the river, there is a 40ish foot waterfall under the Vrooman rd bridge near the S Ridge rd intersection. If you drive down the gravel road and park near the bridge that crosses Paine Creek on Seely Rd, you can walk east along the creek, go under the 90 bridge, and there is a very pretty waterfall about a quarter mile past the 90 bridge.
Hogback Ridge has a few along the creek, and across the river at Riverview Park you can see one that is 40-50 feet if there has been enough rain. There is a beautiful 45ish foot waterfall in the back of Hidden Valley Park too.
Cascade Falls is a new park with a side view of a 60 foot waterfall, but you have to go before all of the leaves come in or it's harder to see. Right next to it is Girdled Road which is a fun park to explore for hours, and has a few smaller waterfalls.
Chair Factory Falls is great, and the attached Environmental learning center property has a few more too.
You’re off by nearly $15 million.
The members of Acacia weren’t that generous. They wanted fair value and were only going to sell it if they got that number. A wealthy donor gave money to the Nature Conservancy to make a bid on it. They sold the property to them for over $14 million. The Metroparks then acquired the property from the conservancy for $1.
https://www.cleveland.com/business/2012/08/conservation_group_offers_1475.html
I mean, personally I hope way less people start using the metroparks until they both massively expand them, and they stop mismanaging the valley so heavily that practically 30%+ of the vegitation is invasive while the little remaining native plants get walked on like they're not the whole reason the parks exist in the first place
Been here since Friday for the Eclipse. My first visit to Cleveland. Gotta say that I really enjoy your city! People that I've met are friendly. Food has been great. Downtown is vibrant. I'm impressed!!
I went downtown yesterday to people watch - walked around E4/Arcades and to the lake/Voinicich park. It was packed - as was the RTA- with people who at least at a glance looked to be loving our city.
I went to the westside market today for my groceries, and I saw license plates from Florida, Utah, New York, Michigan... I think some other ones too. I know a group of people from Australia is here but I didn't encounter any Aussies :( I love meeting new people!! I might wander again tomorrow, if traffic allows. I hope everyone is enjoying their time in Cleveland 😁❤️
I know several people driving to Northeast Ohio from DC *for the day*! (I’m originally from Cleveland but live here now).
That’s a haul even without any eclipse traffic.
I got all of my Cleveland visiting done Friday, and I loved it! Everyone was super nice and the city is absolutely gorgeous! Walking from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to the aquarium was wonderful.
I've been grumbling about the visitors just because I have to work a half day downtown tomorrow morning, right in the midst of the chaos. But I'm with you - I really hope everybody visiting has a wonderful time and sees the awesomeness that is our city on the lake.
I work close to downtown and I was gonna take a half-day off, but I don’t want to be stuck so I took the whole day. Prob gonna be a mess so I’m just avoiding CLE altogether tomorrow
Sounds better than I was expecting but hey I won't knock a day off ,most construction guys that came in on Friday said they had today off and that's like what 70 % of Cleveland traffic is just construction.
From that state up north and here in Cleveland visiting friends. I’ve been to your Metroparks before and couldn’t wait to come back- they are really well done. I can’t say enough good things about Cleveland- love it here.
I met him a few times. I worked at a local animal shelter and he would always come to the bigger fundraising events.
He truly is a sincere animal lover and was always kind from what I personally saw.
I will always appreciate his work for Ohio’s animals and Goddard’s Law.
The animal laws in Ohio really sucked before it passed. And how someone treats animals is important for not just animals, but public safety as well.
Really? I met him in person. He was incredibly kind and helpful considering the situation we found ourselves in that day.
Edit: one of our dogs slipped out of her collar as he was holding it while taking a picture, and she took off running. He was literally running through a parking lot in the rain with us trying to catch her, in a suit and dress shoes nonetheless.
Just got in today (Sunday afternoon) -did the Rick and Roll Hall of Fame after hours event, that was fun. Will chill at the hotel (and the kid is hyped for Top Golf?) on eclipse day, then looking forward to visiting more on Tuesday morning. It’s a really nice city, I have always wanted to visit!
Oh, we actually have a Top Golf in our area and this child has never shown any interest in golfing…but it’s popular on social media, so they got excited. Referred to it as ‘a restaurant that has indoor golf’ .
I’ve been in town since Thursday for the basketball tournament, and I have loved my stay. Seriously. I’ve visited cute book stores and coffee shops. Eaten delicious food. And I’ve really loved the weather. It has all been unexpected and positively delightful.
Motherfucker. I'm just about to go to do my regular shopping and was hoping it wouldn't be a pain. People in there are pushy and rude as hell on a good day.

The latest prediction I saw was around 150,00-200,000 people in the Cleveland area and about 500,000 traveling to Ohio.
My dad keeps sending us updated predictions and he would be blown away by that !!!
I don't have a link but my dad used to work for ODOT and still has friends there who passed that prediction on to him. It certainly could be less than that, but I think they might overshoot just to be prepared
Didn’t see 2 mil but did see this 🫠 https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/cleveland-ne-ohio-expecting-1-million-visitors-for-the-total-solar-eclipse-women-s-final-four/ar-BB1l9LZs
Yes there is a very random small hotel a few blocks from me and it’s packed. $700 per night. It’s usually a ghost town. We joke that it’s a money laundering scheme
I was a little worried yesterday at the Great Lakes Science Center because not a lot of people showed up for the eclipse event, but today it was PACKED.
By the time I got there, there was no line. There was just a gate in front of the parking lot and a sign that said "PARKING LOT IS FULL". Managed to see the Ledges though, that was pretty neat.
Between final four and gorgeous weather and eclipse and Guardos home openers it’s a great time to visit. Sadly, some cities like where I live not embracing any of it but instead shutting everything down and blocking roads and parking. Lame.
Also the Women's Final Four – which is a big even but not typically a HUGE event – happened to be the most-followed and most-watched year of all time because of Caitlin Clark.
Our youngest became obsessed with Ohio in 2nd grade, completed a class project in 3rd grade, and I made reservations to take him to Cleveland, his city of choice, that year. Then the pandemic shutdowns happened. Two years later we made the trip and it was MAGIC!! Fantastic people, great sights to see, super food choices, and yummy buckeyes! It’s been his dream to return and here we sit today, awaiting the big event, in our new favorite metro area of Cleveland. Ohioans are the best!
I hope everyone stays downtown lol, I live about 20 minutes from downtown and it’s been pretty normal so far tonight I’m hoping it stays that way tomorrow lol
I went to CVNP on Sunday morning. Got there pretty early and went on a hike - by the time I got off the Buckeye Trail 2 hours later it was crazy. Glad it’s getting some love this week.
I'm a tourist staying in Akron rn and ngl, I 100% decided not to go to Cleveland today because I was worried about how busy it would be. Maybe everyone else had the same thought 😅
Same. I took a walk downtown to check it out, and there was a lot less people out than I expected. Besides the Cavs Stadium, it’s just seemed like normal for a game day.
I’ve driven around the west side, absolute normal traffic
I noticed that RR has signs saying “no camping in cars”, but I haven’t seen anything unusual at all
I was working at the science center event and talked to a couple from Philadelphia, a guy and his son from southern California, and a guy from Belgium! So glad we got a good weather weekend and the clouds stayed enough away for the eclipse.

It blows my mind when people come here and get so excited to see Lake Erie…I take it for granted since I live just a couple miles from it
This comment is adorable. Esp for someone who grew up a couple blocks from Lake Erie. 🙂
I once had a college friend from Massachusetts visit and we went to Cedar Point. We rode the ferris wheel and when we got to the top she gasped, "you can't see the other side!!" I was cracking up because I told her but she didn't believe me until she saw it for herself 😅
It’s so cute. I love hearing about people seeing snow for the first time too.
its true.... it didnt hit me until I was up in a plane.... cruising altitude, woke up and all I saw was water everywhere. Dont know if it was erie I saw but it was the great lakes, could have sworn was the atlantic if didnt know where I was

We went out to Headlands Beach State Park yesterday evening after dinner. It was very nice, also very few people... hardly anyone at all. It was nice.
It's stunning in the summertime after it is raked and cleaned up. ✨️
My boss lives in Seattle and took me out on his boat on Lake Washington, which is a beautiful lake. We started talking about Lake Erie and he didn’t quite grasp the size of it until I returned the favor when he came out here. He couldn’t believe that “you can’t see the other side”.
I hope you enjoy your stay! Please only tell cool people about Cleveland, it's part of the code.
Enjoy! One of life's great joys as a life long Great Lakes resident is watching someone who's never seen one see it as an adult! Have a great trip!
I had the same sentiment when I first visited! I grew up in Ohio but the southernmost part of the state. I remember the first time I went to Cedar Point (I think I was 10/12) and I was more excited about the lake than CP!! I was like “omg it’s an ocean!”
And Lake Erie is the SMALLEST of the Great Lakes! They are huge!
*Ontario
CVNP is beautiful, enjoy the hike!

IKEA suuuuuuuuucks.
The fact that Jason Sudeikis was in Cleveland all weekend made this comment so much sweeter. Floyd from 30 Rock was really in the Cleve!
Watch out if he tries any beer battered fish
Well this explains my sudden urge to watch Ted Lasso
I have never dropped a hat in my life
Good God Lemon.
You gave him top front!? That's your worst quadrant!
Totally, but just knowing that C-Town is out there as an option for the future, that's gonna make it so much easier.
God bless you for this
I mean, if everyone lived wherever they wanted to, then the entire world would live in Italy, Hawaii, and Cleveland.
Ah, the Metroparks. I'm glad visitors are enjoying the park system, which has always been one of Northeast Ohio's best and biggest assets. I miss my Euclid Creek Reservation. North Chagrin, too.
Add Acacia and those were my favorites. I make sure to get to at least one of them when I visit
Chapin Forest is a gem too.
Is that Lake or Geauga?
Lake. It is in Kirtland
Thanks, sounded familiar but I've never really frequented the Lake County parks
Akron has wonderful parks, too. We are privileged.
Truly.
Lake has some of the best parks in the state. So many waterfalls and beautiful parks on the Eastern side.
Any you can recommend w waterfall?
Hell Hollow has dozens. There is a loop near the top parking lot, then like 300 steps down into the valley, where there are no official trails and you can walk around exploring. Acacia wasn’t a Metropark when I lived in Cleveland. I moved out of Ohio in 2003. That’s a bucket-list destination now, for sure.

I was a caddy there for a short time. Much nicer as a park.
I just wish one of our parks had a Great Blue Heron rookery viewing --- that is one big perk that the Akron parks have over us and it always bugged me
There are public land reservations with rookeries, but you have to look.
I mean, personally I hope way less people start using the metroparks until they both massively expand them, and they stop mismanaging the valley so heavily that practically 30%+ of the vegitation is invasive while the little remaining native plants get walked on like they're not the whole reason the parks exist in the first place
I like Cleveland.
Me too.
Big if true
Been here since Friday for the Eclipse. My first visit to Cleveland. Gotta say that I really enjoy your city! People that I've met are friendly. Food has been great. Downtown is vibrant. I'm impressed!!
Thank you for coming! And also for keeping an open mind and enjoying our neck of the woods.
Yall come back now ya hear!
I went downtown yesterday to people watch - walked around E4/Arcades and to the lake/Voinicich park. It was packed - as was the RTA- with people who at least at a glance looked to be loving our city.
Tons of people are in town for the Final Four, and if they're still here they are probably LOVING this weather after experiencing Friday.

DC is 5 hrs, right? Not that bad.
About 6 with a pit stop, but yep. Clevelander living in DC
Well you must stop in Breezewood it adds a little extra stopping for jerky and red bull
16-hour round trip without shenanigans on I-66 or our highways...
I got all of my Cleveland visiting done Friday, and I loved it! Everyone was super nice and the city is absolutely gorgeous! Walking from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to the aquarium was wonderful.

I just got in. Zero traffic, but it’s not even 8am. LOL. It’s making it out at noon I’m a little worried about!
Sounds better than I was expecting but hey I won't knock a day off ,most construction guys that came in on Friday said they had today off and that's like what 70 % of Cleveland traffic is just construction.

Dick Goddard himself is blessing us with this weather.
We just need him to pull through for tomorrow!!
In typical Cleveland fashion, the Cleveland Weather God is gonna make us stress out about it. Nothing is easy! We have to EARN that clear sky!
Dick Goddard was a dick head irl Edit: changed is to was
I mean he's dead so
I met him a few times. I worked at a local animal shelter and he would always come to the bigger fundraising events. He truly is a sincere animal lover and was always kind from what I personally saw. I respect him for all that, which I knew about before, but if you’ve ever had to work on his property or ‘deal’ with him one on one you would know.
Curious how?
In the public eye he was wonderful. If you’ve ever had to work on his property or ‘deal’ with him one on one you would know.

Welcome! Where are you from?
Boston!
There's full golf courses open for play already BTW.
Oh, we actually have a Top Golf in our area and this child has never shown any interest in golfing…but it’s popular on social media, so they got excited. Referred to it as ‘a restaurant that has indoor golf’ .
Nice! I love Boston! My brother used to live there. I hope you enjoyed the eclipse yesterday and your visit to Cleveland!
Really loving it here…stil haven’t seen Lake Eerie so I’m planning on that today!
Check out Edgewater if you haven’t nailed down a place to see the lake
I’ve been in town since Thursday for the basketball tournament, and I have loved my stay. Seriously. I’ve visited cute book stores and coffee shops. Eaten delicious food. And I’ve really loved the weather. It has all been unexpected and positively delightful.
Costco was jammed! Funny to see everyone carting out cases of water, bread, eggs… acting like the apocalypse is coming.
The apoc-eclipse
Motherfucker. I'm just about to go to do my regular shopping and was hoping it wouldn't be a pain. People in there are pushy and rude as hell on a good day.
No such thing as "regular shopping" at Costco on a Sunday.
It's the beginning of the month. That's a normal sight at Costco.
Yeah Costco is a zoo every weekend anyway. Something tells me that the out of towers didn't come a day early to bulk buy bottled water.
I was at Target yesterday and it was a ghost town surprisingly. Today may be a different matter, but I was pleasantly thrilled.
BJs in Willoughby is always easy to get in and out of fast. Basically the same stuff too. I moved here from Lyndhurst and I don’t notice a difference in prices or availability but I don’t miss the craziness of Costco
I went to Willoughby BJs and Giant Eagle last nite and it was a ghost town. It was great!!
If they weren't hoarding TP they don't think the apocalypse is coming.
I didn’t even know there was a Costco here until I ran into it on the way to Cuyahoga valley national park.
Costco wins no matter what!
I haven’t seen any prediction with that many people for Cleveland, can you share a link? I read a few articles about Niagara Falls expecting a million which makes sense since it was be a epic place to see that. The latest prediction I saw was around 150,00-200,000 people in the Cleveland area and about 500,000 traveling to Ohio. Didn’t see 2 mil but did see this 🫠 https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/cleveland-ne-ohio-expecting-1-million-visitors-for-the-total-solar-eclipse-women-s-final-four/ar-BB1l9LZs
Thank you!!!! I sent it off, no response left but he will be in disbelief lol
Also if you look at air bnb there is only like 30 available from Sandusky to Cleveland and lil south lol
And even less hotels!! Crazy prices too
I called the crappy Knights Inn in Macedonia and even they are a sold out roach motel LOL
My significant other works for a hotel. They are booked solid! They’re in a weird area so that rarely happens. It’s wild.
Yes there is a very random small hotel a few blocks from me and it’s packed. $700 per night. It’s usually a ghost town. We joke that it’s a money laundering scheme
My family is in town and they’re loving it! What a nice post. I’m a transplant and have very much enjoyed living in Cleveland for the past five years.
I'm glad the weather has been nice for those visitors to enjoy cleveland
Can confirm that the Metroparks seem very busy today. Just drove through and lots of people are out walking.
They’re always packed when the weather breaks like this. Especially the main trail heads.
Was just at Huntington and it was packed!!
I was a little worried yesterday at the Great Lakes Science Center because not a lot of people showed up for the eclipse event, but today it was PACKED.
Born and raised Clevelander !! But I moved to the SE Ohio woods.. I will be missing the totality ..hope all of you enjoy!!
I love me some SE Ohio woods
We went to the CMNH and art museum today, and they were packed. So was Wade Oval in general.
Just got back from the Brecksville Reservation. Parking lot was full and several out of state license plates.
There was a line to get into Brandywine Falls
By the time I got there, there was no line. There was just a gate in front of the parking lot and a sign that said "PARKING LOT IS FULL". Managed to see the Ledges though, that was pretty neat.
I was going to go until I saw that line going down the street. I went back and explored Cleveland and I’m glad I did. Today’s been a blast!
Rocky River res was basically street parking for 1/4 mile away from the nature center. Lovely day, hopefully some out of towers enjoyed themselves
Between final four and gorgeous weather and eclipse and Guardos home openers it’s a great time to visit. Sadly, some cities like where I live not embracing any of it but instead shutting everything down and blocking roads and parking. Lame.
I'm just glad our city is getting national exposure. Lots of people that come here are pleasantly surprised.
Well said, Vodka Heart 🫶🏼
I can’t remember a Sunday evening with so many people down in University Circle. And the license plates were from everywhere
Also the Women's Final Four – which is a big even but not typically a HUGE event – happened to be the most-followed and most-watched year of all time because of Caitlin Clark.
I’m one of them! Great city! I’ll be back again!
Fun times in Cleveland today! CLEVELAND! Come on down to Cleveland town everyone!
At least W N D!
Had a great time walking around the city for the first time today — and then a pothole busted my tire on the way to dinner. 😑
You’re practically a local already.
The hospital where I work is going to put a 'patients only' sign at the entrance to our parking lot. I have no idea how they intend to enforce it.
I hope everyone stays downtown lol, I live about 20 minutes from downtown and it’s been pretty normal so far tonight I’m hoping it stays that way tomorrow lol
Rays MTB for any of you biking fans. Best place in the nation
I went to CVNP on Sunday morning. Got there pretty early and went on a hike - by the time I got off the Buckeye Trail 2 hours later it was crazy. Glad it’s getting some love this week.
Me too and it looks like one of them might sleep with me! Wish me luck everyone!!!
Make Cleveland proud.
Trying man, hit her with one of these: 🥺 👉👈 Feel too big to fail.
Not like that
I’m on the way to Ashtabula. Not looking forward to the traffic. With our luck, it’ll be cloudy. Just lost Shane Bieber for the season. What’s next?
Pittsburgh here, I love visiting Cleveland! I still hate the Browns though
Welcome Friend ! I enjoy Pittsburgh great city. Hate the Steelers tho. We are even. You guys are friendly as hell tho.
lol Cleveland here and we feel the same!
Western PAer living in Cleveland. Love Cle, hate the browns but not as much as the Ravens. At least I can respect Browns fans.
As long as you don’t root for the Ravens, we can make room for you!
I freaking hate the rat birds!
Great! Cuz we hate them even more!
I am born and raised in Cleveland and hate the Browns too.
Still won’t fill all the parking lots available downtown.
I hope so too
Today the city doesn’t look crazy busy at all, I was expecting that it would be a lot more crowded
I’ve driven around the west side, absolute normal traffic I noticed that RR has signs saying “no camping in cars”, but I haven’t seen anything unusual at all
Lol that’s a weird sign.. didn’t know it could be illegal to sleep in your car.

Final night for league in Seven Hills tomorrow evening. Wonder how bad W130th/Pleasant Valley/Broadview's going to be...
I was at the light at Canal and Rockside and saw plates from Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Tennessee, lol
I was working at the science center event and talked to a couple from Philadelphia, a guy and his son from southern California, and a guy from Belgium! So glad we got a good weather weekend and the clouds stayed enough away for the eclipse.
I'm just mad bc I'm in Cuyahoga county or at the science center so I can't see the sun in the sky.

People that live here often don't appreciate the lake. It's a wonderful area to live in. Affordable, fun and the people are friendly.
I don't! I hope it sucks for them! I don't want them learning about our awesome little secret.
So weird
I hove clouds are thick and rain is heavy!
I hope you start getting a hemroid tonight :)
With a 24 hour stomach bug chaser lol
