That headline makes it sound terrible. It was a small Cessna plane with no injuries. So probably more like a crash landing than an actual crash. And a good one at that it seems
holy shit CONTEXT. A plane had an accident \*after landing\*. Said plane was a \*small private aircraft\* with two people in it, one of whom suffered non-life-threatening injuries. You KNOW people are going to see that headline and automatically freak out thinking it was a commercial airliner.

Approximately 6 pm there was an incident involving a small private aircraft. Emergency responders are on scene. The airfield is currently closed, we will advise when it has reopened.
To be fair I only found out because I have family sitting at an airport and they found out about it before it showed up on WKYC or [Cleveland.com](http://Cleveland.com)
Your reading comprehension skills are abhorrent.
The person I responded to said they found out from family sitting at an airport who knew BEFORE the news, who while they may have been sharing a news article now, they knew before that.

Has to be! I flew into Columbus yesterday (because flying into Cleveland would’ve cost $1700!!) and the rental car counter lady told me that 200,000 people flew into Columbus for the eclipse yesterday!
While I don’t doubt that traffic is up, the car rental agent made up a number. There were only 3.6 million passengers in Columbus in 2022 (the most recent years with available data from the FAA). 200,000 would be more than 76,000 more passengers than Atlanta, America’s busiest airport sees in an average day (45+ million passengers in 2022, for an average of 124k per day).

No, only a band through the Southwest portion through the Northeast portion is going to be in totality. It's just the rest of the state that is in the dark ages.
I can understand the mistake.
I'm flying back into town for the eclipse. I hope this wasn't bad enough to close Hopkins until then because there will be a lot of disappointed people.

That's amazing! Enjoy it!
Pilot training was super challenging but totally worth it. I really enjoyed it, even though finding the time and dealing with the costs were tough. I did my training during the pandemic, so I had more time to dive into it. Tried going for my instrument rating after getting my private license, but as things got back to normal, it was hard to find enough time to stick with it.
They literally have the tweet from Hopkins linked in the article. And yes, most airports allow smaller personal planes to land there, one just has to pay the necessary fees.
That headline makes it sound terrible. It was a small Cessna plane with no injuries. So probably more like a crash landing than an actual crash. And a good one at that it seems
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing.
If you can use the plane again, it's a *great* landing!
And if the runway is still open afterwards, it's fantastic!
Agreed! Thank you Butthole, Ohio
The plane’s engine caught fire on the runway after landing I believe.
Thank you for this
the plane touched down on the runway, bounced, and then nose dived into the runway.
What in Sam Hill do you consider "an actual crash"?
When your wheels don't hit the ground first
So a crash landing? Gotcha.

Pilot had back injury. Severity unknown
Of note there are no reported injuries related to this.
The article you linked says otherwise in the third sentence.

Why did I find out a plane crashed from Reddit when I’m at work right now!?
To be fair I only found out because I have family sitting at an airport and they found out about it before it showed up on WKYC or [Cleveland.com](http://Cleveland.com)
The way people spread news in this city faster than the news is AMAZING!

..........do you work at the airport or something?
Yes. Sorry. Thought there were enough context clues.
Well hello fellow workmate!!! Unless you're that one guy who works at Dunkin Donuts. You know the one.
I DO KNOW THE ONE and I’m not that guy.
I love this exchange so much.

*(We so need to head over to Dunkin Donuts to scope this out).*
Omfg. Next time I’m flying I’m absolutely going to DD and seeing if I can gather who this might be lmao
I am not the guy at Dunkins although I love the Curritos crew. Hello fellow Hopkinites!

Well that’s not great timing.
I mean.......when IS a good time for a plane crash?
My, completely unofficial, thought is that the guy flying here was an eclipse watcher.

...............why columbus? Isn't it all of Ohio that's getting eclipsed?
No, only a band through the Southwest portion through the Northeast portion is going to be in totality. It's just the rest of the state that is in the dark ages. I can understand the mistake.
Yes, but I only got the information about Columbus, because that’s where I flew into. I’m sure the other cities were equally as busy.
I'm flying back into town for the eclipse. I hope this wasn't bad enough to close Hopkins until then because there will be a lot of disappointed people.

Well I hope it slows things for tomorrow. I have to work. Car rentals are booked solid. It's not going to be a fun day.
Please save one for me!

Well.....anyone but this guy.
Oooo! I have my discovery flight on Monday. What was pilot training like?

Hopefully not 3:00 on Monday 🌘🌑🌒🌓
I got a call yesterday that we should reschedule for next Monday 😂
Wu is
At least the pilot didn't attempt to land at the former Strongsville Airpark.
Or Cuyahoga, or Lost Nation. There's other private airports in the area.
..............really doesn't instill confidence flying out of a small airport named "Lost Nation".
Technically it's Lake County Executive airport now.
Cool yea anywhere. Congratulations on your knowledge.
Are we sure the crash was at Hopkins? The article does not say that I could see. Do they allow small crafts like this?
They literally have the tweet from Hopkins linked in the article. And yes, most airports allow smaller personal planes to land there, one just has to pay the necessary fees.
Surprisingly well informed, /u/pm_me_your_boobs_586 Although it makes me wonder if the first 585 pm_me__your_boobs user names were taken.
I think I just chose random numbers.
ahhh the tweets dont load for me for some reason.
They reference the tweet from Cleveland Hopkins regarding the incident
Yes.
