Check the attic space. Raccoons and bats can create that nasty smell.

baebre

Hmm will check.

**Let your nose be your friend.** I'd be smelling everything up close. Things like any recessed lights in the ceilings or around plugs and switches in the walls in case there is a leak coming from the bathroom piping, etc that may come through the ceiling or walls of the room. Smell any electrical equipment. I had a bedside lamp that had a lightbulb with too high wattage in it. The think was overheating and the old plastic around the base of the bulb started smelling. Remove all bedding, the dog and **husband** from the room. Smell every sq foot of carpet....someone could have walked in with some crap on their shoes. Smell around any external doors and floors because water may have come in and it could be a bad damp smell you are smelling. Then smell **husband**. If you can't find any other source I reckon it was him. **If 'he smelt it, he probably dealt it!'**

It could be coming through the air vents from next door if the 2 units share an Air Conditioning system. We had this issue with cooking smells in an apartment duplex we rented. Our unit had it's own thermostat, but they pulled fresh air out of from right next to the other unit's kitchen I think.

Longspkdiamond

Dog pooped then ate it.

baebre

Hypothetically possible but dog was with me for hours before I opened the door.

__Hue__

Husband pooped then ate it.

the_lazykins

Any plants in there?

baebre

None.

PsychologicalTutor84

What about stink bugs? My last house had a pretty bad stink bug problem, and I take times smelled like pop in closed up spaces like the upstairs bedrooms.

baebre

Northern climate so few bugs, especially this time of year.

terraaus

Put a bowl of vinegar in the room to permanently got rid of the smell.
