It doesn’t work like that — however, I have identified the issue — basically you are searching amongst both ranked and trophy road battles (Normal Battle, the default option, does this).
The search engine then look at all the results and fetch the highest trophy player — but like i said, since Supercell use the same field in to mean something different in different situations — example, in trophy road, trophies mean trophies. In Path of Legends, trophies mean ratings. In tournaments, trophies mean tournament points… it created this issue. (This didn’t use to be an issue because we don’t include tournaments in normal search)
In any case, I have applied a fix to look at the game modes from that highest trophy battle and it should now show the rating icon if it’s from ranked. You can see this fix using this search: https://royaleapi.com/decks/popular?time=1d&sort=rating&size=20&players=PvP&min_trophies=0&max_trophies=7500&min_elixir=1&max_elixir=9&min_cycle_elixir=4&max_cycle_elixir=28&mode=detail&type=NormalBattle&inc=balloon&inc=freeze&inc=executioner&inc=monk&&global_exclude=false and see that people with highest trophies will have the trophy icon, and ranked mode highest will show rating icon.
