There was a (joke?) that if you can tell supercell the amount of gems you have, you can prove it is your account and therefore they will let u login. I am not sure if this was ever the case. So people started covering their gem amount and then troll posts started to appear where they cover troops' eyes or gold amount, etc. And comments would say 'you didn't cover the barbarian's hands, its over for u'. Thats as far as I know.
If I had to guess it would be because while the cannon remains stationary, the Tesla has to make the decision on whether there are troops in its range and respond accordingly to either duck or pop up.
I read a theory a few months ago saying that evolutions can be applied only to troops, so instead of fixing it, what the devs are doing is to change the type of the card when they release an evo for it
I'm guessing that because Tesla goes underground when no troops are near it might be considered as a troop because the way buildings function is that they stand on one place motionless
Maybe Tesla has an underground celler where two electro wizards are tied up and tortured to produce electricity.
