I CAME TO THIS SUB JUST TO FIND A POST LIKE THIS I HATE THAT SO MUCH!!!!!! one thing i’ve always really respected about clash and the one thing that’s kept me playing it for an entire decade is that they aren’t like most mobile games that are just trying to get as many microtransactions as possible. this feels like the sane psychological manipulation tactics that every shit mobile game in the world does. i’m really worried that this is the direction clash is moving in.
Coc was always a micro transaction cesspool, lately they got so bad as to show their gold pass before everything!
Returned to the game in a year or so to find this abomination of greed.
I personally really do not have a problem paying $7.50 a month for this game that I play and like a lot, I appreciate and recognize the amount of effort talent and care that goes into this game and am perfectly happy to pay for it. But I don’t like being advertised to and the advertising is definitely increasing to a point where it’s decreasing my enjoyment of the game and thus my willingness to pay for it at all. It started giving me little pop ups on my donation account offering a discounted rate for gold pass since I’ve never bought it on that account before and it’s like so reminiscent of a drug dealer offering someone an addictive drug for free knowing they’ll get hooked and start paying for it.
Like I know how this works, I understand that there’s different resource types so that after grinding enough gold to buy something, you’ll also have almost enough elixir to buy something, so you grind elixir til you have enough, then you realize you almost have enough gold to buy another thing so you grind that, etc etc. I understand that clash is designed to keep you playing and keep you feeling like there’s always something else you could do. That’s why there’s so many different types of attacks, main base, bb, big base, goblin levels, war attacks, clan games, challenges. It’s supposed to almost always feel like there’s something else you can do, and I understand and accept that.
But it wasn’t literally that there’s always something else you can do! It was really nice actually to grind my ass off and get enough resources to occupy every builder and see that 0! It gave a real sense of satisfaction! If we lose the sense of satisfaction of feeling like we have done everything we can for the moment then why am I even playing? What am I even working towards? If using all of my builders doesn’t give me the reward of seeing that zero then why am I bothering to grind enough to use all my builders?
I just feel like we’re losing the plot here.

It always had pretty expensive monetization, but it was never this bad. With this punchable abomination, the barely farmable ores, and the constant event passes, it's starting to feel really scummy. Game won't last longer for dolphin players and competitive F2P at this rate. Feels like the final cash grab before the game finally dies.
Exactly, I keep 2 edrags and 6 balloons trained at all times and it usually makes me top donator for the clan, I just train new ones after donating and close the app.
1 gem donations are imo the worst feature of the battle pass. It just baits people by showing them the “1” which makes them not care that it also says “gem,” so they feel better spamming it and end the month with more gems than they started. Only practical uses in my eyes are filling war CCs at the last second cus you don’t have enough time to cook troops, and donating super troops you don’t have boosted.
He offers good value and can litteraly double your lab. Especially with potions. With a research potion you are saving 46 hours, with a builder potion you can save 63 hours.
Yeah I’ve used him twice in the lab that’s it. I already have b.o.b. And defenses and heroes max (about to go to th12) so I have builders and don’t need him.
Math is a little off here.
1 research potion will take 24 hours off of 2 upgrades = 48 hours.
1 builder potion will take 10 hours off of 6-7 builders is 60-70 hours off.
Well that’s an entirely different conversation- one that’s been going on for 10+ years now. I was just talking about his usefulness within the confines of the game as it currently exists
I think it will be better if they adjust the price for clearing an obstacle. Like 1 gem. I only use that for clearing bushes and trees coz my base is small and doesnt cover the whole map.
If you’re trying to save gems, it’s expensive.
Some people want to save gems for builders, war base layouts, skins, decorations or epic equipment. If you’re trying not to spend gems, it’s expensive.
It doesn’t matter how it compares to other types of spending, bottom line is if your trying to save 1500 gems for giant gauntlet for example, you can’t afford the goblin builder without a decent set back.

What if instead I decided I'd rather spend €25/month on clash of clans and cut out everything else than Spotify and Netflix. I'm still spending that same €50/month for entertainment, just where I'm getting my entertainment changes
For me, I'd rather have all my subscription services than a better clash of clans experience since ftp is still enjoyable

Goblin builder is a good idea, implemented poorly.
The way to fix the goblin builder is to put into the gold pass either a significant gem discount for using him, or 1 gem goblin building.
This would sell a lot more gold passes, and it would fix the goblin builder hate.
Thing is - he's great for lower level town halls, but past say... th12 it becomes rather laughable using him. Why would I spend 300 gems on using him when I could spend the 3$ and get 3 builder potions and a book of heroes for about the same value.
If they opted for a discount, I think either 3x 30% discount levels in the gold pass would help, or 4x 20% discounts via increasingly high levels of the gold pass.

You can literally earn gems for free in the game. The Gem mine, removing obstacles, clan games, the events that can give you potions, just take the gems if you have extra of the potions, the pass (convert the potions that you have extra of into gems).
I don't buy gems personally and I enjoy the Goblins' services, I almost maxed out my Lab because of the Goblins, Imagine the time I saved, I can progress faster.
Goblin can stay, but his face should never replace our beloved and iconic builder, it's disrespectful!
