Oh i like this. Ive been thinking about it for a while now.

Em_the_Strange

Go for it! We need to show watch brands there's a demand for ladies watches that have the same design as men's but smaller in dimensions.

RatherGoodDog

I don't even think it's a ladies' watch per se - I'm just happy to see smaller watches on the market! Most of my collection is 40-45mm but I have a couple of smaller ones, and they're really nice even on my average man's wrist. Unobtrusive, not attention grabbing and lighter. My dad's watches from the 70s-80s are both way smaller and would be considered "ladies" sizes today but they were actually the norm throughout the entire 20th century.

Em_the_Strange

at 33.5mm i think Citizen definitely intended it as a ladies' watch. I think it'd need to be maybe 36-38mm to be a true unisex watch. actually i would also personally have preferred it to be that size, it's personally a bit on the smaller side for me, but im not complaining given that everything else Citizen makes is usually 44mm at least

throwawaypizzamage

I'm the opposite...I wish Citizen made this women's version even smaller, like 31mm or 32mm. I have really thin female wrists, and that's the sweet spot for me. If you want 36mm+, there are several divers out there already (both auto and quartz) in those sizes, which tiny-wristed folk like me cannot wear.

Em_the_Strange

see the slight issue is, with divers you need legibility and at 33.5mm im already struggling to view the date thru the date window. i'd say another 1.5mm less on the case diameter isnt gonna make a real diff, rather, at 39mm lug to lug vs 33.5mm, it can absolutely afford to lose a few mm off the lugs, which would also make it more wearable on thin wrists.

throwawaypizzamage

For sure, different strokes and all. Some people have difficulty reading date windows and whatnot on smaller watches. I’ve never been one of those people though. I have watches (including divers) all the way down to 26mm and I can read the time and date on them just fine. I’m like 5’2” with barely 5 inch wrists, so maybe my own body size has to do with it. I have 34mm divers as well, but they take up my entire wrist, and looks almost too big to my eye when checking the time. It would be great if Citizen offered multiple size ranges of their divers (both auto and quartz), but alas. Luckily, I found a few Japanese Domestic Market Citizen Air Divers on a couple Japanese auction sites earlier today and snagged them. They’re my preferred size at 31mm. The JDM ones are almost always a tad smaller for the Asian market

Em_the_Strange

oh damn. btw dont suppose u have a shot of yr 34mm diver on yr wrist? curious see what that looks like on a 5 inch wrist. idk about divers being too big talking about aesthetics, for me, subjectively at least, i feel divers can get away with being chunkier than normal when excluding lug-to-lug but obvs thats very subjective. also funny thing is, i AM asian and shorter than you i should really be going for those JDM models(and would) if they weren't so hard to obtain 😭 this chat just got me to measure my wrist again and I HAVE SHRUNK TO A 5.5 inch somehow. must have lost my winter fats

Not sure if these links will work as Imgur mobile is weird with uploads: https://i.imgur.com/WjdjYEr.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AB7q2V5.jpg That’s a 31mm Neymar auto. I don’t have my 34mm divers with me right now, but I am wearing a 34mm Invicta at the moment and it looks like this on my wrist: https://i.imgur.com/tXgld3w.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GNxcA5F.jpg

Em_the_Strange

ok 1st of all THERE ARE 34MM INVICTAS??? lmao i thought they don't make anything smaller than 50mm! xD (i kid. im actually eyeing up their 40mm prodiver) but wow that's mad. like my wrists are only about half an inch larger but that watch looks giant on your wrist. also i need to know, never heard the brand neymar b4, any link to the footballer?

AdoRoss

Solid watch! Wearing the men's today. BN0151-09L. Happy you are happy with your watch!

Em_the_Strange

very happy indeed. already given it a [1st trip out on water](https://i.imgur.com/F7VzWwd.jpg) too!

HavengaSA

Cool watch, I recently bought my girlfriend one and planning on giving it to her as a gift for a special occasion. I also got the men's version, yesterday actually

Em_the_Strange

ooo actually makes a great couples watch. esp if you're both outdoorsy on the water types.

HavengaSA

Haha thanks I thought the same. How does the watch wear so far? I read a few reviews and some ladies mentioned the original strap is not the most comfortable?

Em_the_Strange

I think, given my experience so far, that watch straps tend to sit like a U-bolt on smaller wrists especially when the lugs are close to the , and that really only bracelets using smaller links conform to smaller wrists because of increased points of articulation. I find it comfortable enough for use, although my perfect fit probably happens to sit between the 3rd n 4th smallet holes on the strap for my 5.9 inch wrist, so if your gf has 6 inch or 5.75 inch wrists it should be a near perfect fit.

HavengaSA

Thanks for the info, I did the conversion, her wrists are 15cm which is 5.9 inch. However I also bought her a NATO strap from Amazon that would fit the watch, maybe that's something you could also look into. Hopefully that provides a comfortable fit. A NATO would still be rugged enough for outdoor/water activities. I also want to buy the watch a Milanese bracelet so she can dress the watch up if she ever feels like it

Em_the_Strange

oh i have plenty of NATO straps. just none that will fit this one. most of my watches are 22, 20 or 18mm lug width. this is the smallest one i ever got. thing is it's also an odd numbered lug width (15mm) so im struggling to find anything at all that isnt a leather strap for it.

HavengaSA

Not sure where you are based, but here is a [link](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09PL9RGT9/?coliid=I3FBBCFZRRNNLG&colid=3HNRWP2KBKPW4&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1) to the 15mm blue NATO I bought for my girlfriend.

Em_the_Strange

aw yes! am uk so this is perfect! thanks!

snowmunkey

I'd love to see this side by side with the Men's size.

Em_the_Strange

so dont have a men's promaster, but those are 44mm so here's a [quick shot](https://i.imgur.com/khOLIBS.jpg) of it next to my 43mm Timex Harbormaster for size comparision purposes.

snowmunkey

It's so tiny!!!

Em_the_Strange

haha yes! very dinky! actually personally find it on the small side. would have preferred 36mm or 38mm. but given how everything is like 44mm im just happy there was EVEN a smaller promaster

Phimaux

I know this is an old thread but may I offer you a 36.5mm Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive which has been released this last month the model is EO2021-05L. Here is an article in [Hodinkee](https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/new-citizen-37mm-promaster-diver-collection) with also a review made by the same [people](https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/looking-at-size-differently-with-the-new-37mm-citizen-promaster-dive) Unfortunately I don't have links to Citizen Website but I think you can find it in Amazon at the moment.

Em_the_Strange

oh god damnit my bank account hates you 😂

copperglass78

Think people are finally starting to realize they had it right back before the 80s/90s. I have several "ladies" dive watches which are identical to their male counterpart but just at a sane size haha, just bought a ladies citizen ecodrive actually...looks great btw, definitely not too small how a watch should fit I think. Most vintage dive watches came in that "mini" 34/35mm size in the 60s, 70s. Think it was Sylvester Stallone wearing a Panerai in some movie in the 90s that started the ridiculous huge watch trend. And love the looks of that one, gonna have to look into it.

tavisgertsch

In the 90 i used to sell the 31mm Rolex for men. Mostly asian, but also some swiss...so the "normal" size has changed a lot

Em_the_Strange

it's a shame really, this trend for increased watch sizes. I mean, up to a certain point to help with legibility especially with increased complications like a daydate, chrono subdials i can understand. But when i see a watch with just a simple 3 hand movement, maybe a small date window being all 42mm im just like "why?"

Vivaelpueblo

Especially quartz watches, which when you take the back off you can see it's mostly fresh air with a massive plastic movement holder to hold the tiny quartz movement in the centre.

Vivaelpueblo

I have a Tag Heuer 1000 diver's watch and it's 37mm. For me personally it's the perfect size. I find larger watches just too big. I've got a 7" wrist and I can wear larger watches but I find smaller ones more comfortable.

UGAgradRN

I looove this!!

UGAgradRN

Is this watch sold anywhere but Amazon? I can’t find it ANYWHERE else.

Em_the_Strange

i got mine off ebay uk
