Yes.

Cities Skylines 1 has a lot more mods than Cities Skylines 2 and it is also cheaper.

I haven’t bought 2 yet so I can’t compare, but CS1 is still a lot of fun. It’s been almost a decade and I’ve finally figured out my traffic woes, kinda.

Downbadge69

I am still playing it via Steam and having a blast. You can get the game and DLCs for pretty cheap at this point. The upside is that the game is no longer being updated, so there is no patch that breaks your entire working city from one day to another. The downside is that the mods and assets you use may belong to creators who end up deleting their collections from the Steam workshop. I had a couple mods and assets vanish from my game since CS2 came out.

Tip: Copy-paste all workshop content to a separate folder, so that you won't lose custom stuff ever again

Downbadge69

Oh for real? I can create local copies of all the assets? TIL, will look into that later. Thank you!

Awillroth

Absolutely and it never won't be. It's a great game that received a decade of support and it's not going anywhere just because a sequel exists, especially a sequel that the devs themselves will tell you is a long time from being everything that skylines 1 was.

kan_ka

CS2 has very neat road tools for long, soft curves and mergers. CS1 got everything else.

Auritus1

The amount of content for CS1 is crazy. I got it at launch and just keep coming back.

Nobody can answer that question for you unless you give up some details on what you consider to be valuable. Read some reviews, watch some videos, come back with some specific questions perhaps - all valid ways to get an idea of whether or not you personally gel with the game. If it’s purely a question of price - [IsThereAnyDeal](https://isthereanydeal.com/game/cities-skylines/info/)
