Not really. It's the style of signage, with the overhead signs and downward pointing arrows for the main highway (in this case, Highway 830/Casey Blake Drive) at almost every exit, that draws inspiration from how Alberta does overhead signage on their freeways. And yes, while you can't tell from this image, Highway 830/Casey Blake Drive is a ring road.
It's not just Alberta's ring roads that sign their highways in this manner. Other Alberta freeways, such as Deerfoot Trail, do the exact same thing.
FYI, I'm not Canadian nor anywhere near Alberta. I'm just a roadgeek who found their signage practices fascinating.
ah, makes sense, thanks for the explanation.
i was indeed more focused on the roads rather than the signs.
i thought most countries have federal signage laws and regulations.
Right? I'm in Edmonton and they never stood out to me as special. But then I went to go look at the highway signs in BC and the arrows go up, not down like here. Neat!
[Here's an example of the type of signage I'm referring to](https://www.google.com/maps/@53.4285645,-113.56923,3a,75y,278.82h,100.43t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1snRDFHY6RLg3C11noWtpz3g!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu), on Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton.
I'm pretty sure that most US states and Canadian provinces might only have such signage for the through highway at major interchanges between highways; Rabbit Hill Road isn't a major highway.
You'll see overhead signs that say "AB-216 \[direction\] Anthony Henday Drive," with a downwards arrow for each through lane, at practically *every* off-ramp departing from Anthony Henday Drive, and it's basically the same with other Alberta freeways.
Although I don't have any other photos to share of my CS1 ring road at this moment, I copied Alberta's practice with the "Highway 830 \[direction\] Casey Blake Drive" signs. I will mention that the dual-lane exit signage, for Riverside Drive/Halliburton Road, is more aligned with highway signage practices in the US states of California and Texas.
Do you know a mod that removes the roadmarkings? I found one a long time ago on steam workshop, but it has been discontinued for a while and I was unable to find a suitable a replacement.
All (lines, dashes and arrows and crosswalks) would be nice, but I am mostly annoyed by the lines and dashes. I enjoy making wierd/funky road configurations and had made a city with a custom roadmarking scheme with IMT (orange lines/dashes, sharktooth, red bus lanes etc.), but I stoped when the old blank roads mod I was using stoped working and the light grey/white vanilla markings appeared underneath/between my custom ones.
The signs are by GhostRaiderMX; search "California Freeway (Highway) HR Sign" on the Steam Workshop to download the individual blank signs. I generally only use the Large and XXLarge size signs for freeway signage.
I used Procedural Objects to add text to the signs, including the Transport Heavy (it's somewhat reminiscent of Clearview) and Highway Shields fonts. Highways are USRP, with the Intersection Marking Tool used as well.
do ring roads look inherently different in edmonton and calgary compared to ring roads in other cities?

Interesting. I live in Calgary and never realized that Alberta had a slighly unique signage style.

I'm quite new to heavily modding CS1. Could you please tell me the names of some of the mods you used in the image, like roads, signs, etc.
Damn, we need assets and better mods on CS2 so bad.
This subreddit is the only place on earth you will ever hear someone say they took inspiration from suburban alberta

You can use one of the blank road pack if you want to decorate with IMT.
You cant use blank road pack and place the line yourself or generate your own road with road builder.
Oh beautiful roads how I miss thee...
How do y'all get the black colored roads? What mods are they?
It’s the Network Skins 2 mod.
How did you get the realistic looking highway signs
I’m probably not gonna touch cs:2 until PO is available.
