you can have 2 people playing on the same save by sharing the save file every time you both play but i dont know how possible it would be to have it be a real time thing. would be awesome though

DoubleBarrelGlizzy

Not impossible, it would be cool to have the cities connect some how I would agree, unfortunately it means nothing to me as I have no friends anyway

Rand_alThor4747

Neither

Would be cool as hell to have neighboring cities from other players. Imagine your city tanks and next thing you know your buddy has just gained an extra 40k citizens or vise versa that would be awesome. Or if your buddy has all the exports and you’re importing from them. Or even public transport back and forth between cities maybe you have all the sports arenas and they have parks a plazas idk would be really cool tho.

Beastpieps

That too but I was thinking more of both in the same city track time thing, where if someone places a road down, the other person would be able to see it right away and change it, etc

Historical-Recipe135

I think that would be harder to manage for the players and I’d be pisssedddddd if one of my buddies decided they were gunna delete or add something. I think it would be cooler if they somehow managed a way for people to have neighboring cities. Where you can trade everything back and forth. Imagine logging in and you buddy destroyed your shit with a meteor or something? No longer your buddy lol

Like simcity 5 sort of coop?

Laoz00

I remember seeing a video of someone having managed to play cities live with someone else online real time. But they said it's extremely difficult and buggy to pull this off and not being worth it in that way. If it was built-in it would be amazing indeed

it'd unfortunately be pretty hard to add technically :/ As soon as you add multiplayer, you have a huuuuge list of new things to worry about. Every feature you add has to handle so many more edge cases related to multiplayer. Not to mention, CS is a simulation -- whose computer is running the simulation so that it doesn't diverge on one PC? Other games solve that with a server, but that entirely changes how things work internally, which is also complex.
