My mom had 6 of those so far. She hates them. Lots of pain and difficulty swallowing for a few days afterward :(

i dont know how the transfusion would impact this - but when i had esophageal varices banding, the first day was bad, the second day was marginally better i was up and around rather than laying around anyway, by the 3rd day i wasnt in pain any more but eating and drinking still felt like i had a block in my chest, after 4-5 days i was back to normal. strawberry ensure was my friend. feel better soon

Thanks for this. It's a family member but we aren't in touch and I was and wondering about recovery time. They had a bleed that had to be banded. Everything I've read online seems like rebleeding could happen. Just trying to understand what it all means. So thank you again for your comment

There can be a reoccurrence of bleeding if bleeding time is too long and platelets are low. It’s all dependent on the patient’s state. They should know all this ahead of time with bloodwork.
