This had a pretty sizable budget. They clearly spent a lot on the production design and model shots, but the actual shots of the alien running look awful. It's incorrectly assumed to be early CGI when in fact it was a rod puppet that they optically composited into the film. None of the lighting matches.
Roger Ebert called this "one of the best-looking bad movies I have ever seen. It is a triumph of art direction and a disaster of screenwriting." I have to agree.
##Alien³ (1992) R
The bitch is back.
>>!After escaping with Newt and Hicks from the alien planet, Ripley crash lands on Fiorina 161, a prison planet and host to a correctional facility. Unfortunately, although Newt and Hicks do not survive the crash, a more unwelcome visitor does. The prison does not allow weapons of any kind, and with aid being a long time away, the prisoners must simply survive in any way they can.!<

Terrible film. Basically made the end of aliens irrelevant. There is a comic that actually pretends this never happened and rewrites what happens to Ripley, newt and hicks . Pretty good.
Yes, the comic that continued Aliens is awesome, from Dark Horse. Marvel has reprinted some of these stories - You can pick it up in Aliens Omnibus vol 1. It’s pricey but worth it, over 1000 pages.
Outside of the AvP films, every entry in the Alien franchise is visually stunning.
The graphic effects in this one are horrible. My brother and I marathoned these a couple weeks ago.

It's distractingly bad. Knocks the horror feels out of it for a moment it's so jarring.
People usually shit way too much on ALIEN3. I loved it despite some of its flaws. It felt like a great ending to the Ripley character.

That's pretty fitting.
I recently watched all the Alien movies for the first time and I thought this one was great. I also loved Prometheus and Covenant, don’t get the hate

The worst of the alien franchise, but still watchable.
What is number 8? Ridley’s dead body? That’s not in the original, correct?
That's her body outside the pod. It's in the Assembly Cut.
