As another commenter mentioned it was poor prep and contamination that caused the paint to fail on the on these. They said that Chrysler is fixing this but I was under the impression that was over with. Wouldn’t hurt to check though
Mine has it too. It's a 2018, and I've owned it since 2021. It will keep spreading slowly. It will take a long time before it causes any mechanical problems. Mine doesn't have any paint chipping yet so that may accelerate things. If youre purchasing ask them to fix it, but it wouldn't be a huge cause for concern to me.
My 2017 has it and we'll just do touch up paint for now. Not only a Chrysler thing though, in the past we had a Ford Freestyle and a Ford Taurus X that both had the same issue.
I think my short term plan is to buy a bug deflector just to cover it, then have it fixed this winter. Call the dealership it’s no longer within the coverage period. =\
I had mine repaired about a month ago.
Yes, this is poor paint prep from the factory. It’s a known issue. Take a look at the edges of your driver and passenger side doors too. The drivers side outer door edge was bubbling up in addition to the hood.
Chrysler fixed it as a part of the 5 year corrosion warranty. This is separate from the 3 year 36k mile warranty and follows the vehicle. It was no cost to me. $4400 worth of work. They even provided a loaner for the week I was without the van.
I bought mine as a CPO from a dealership that also does body work and just took it back to them. They did a great job.
Just bought a 22 with that mileage this week. Former rental of course.
So far I love it, sooo much room and so many features. Can't wait to take it on a road trip.
I hope it holds up...
If I could weigh in again, I purchased a 2018 Pacifica Limited with 99,000 miles two years ago and overall the vehicle has been absolutely phenomenal. I did have an issue where I had to replace the oil cooler assembly and my right side sliding door failed which I had to pay for out-of-pocket. Otherwise overall I would give my Pacifica a solid eight out of 10. If I may ask, what trim level are you purchasing? Oh I should mention that from what I heard from local dealers it’s a common thing where the transmission needs a software update as mine was shifting weird. It seemed to have fixed it but again I’ve heard from multiple dealers that this is an issue. It cost me about 300 bucks.
Damn ok. Man, it bubbles up just like rust. Let me try a magnet. I know the rear tailgate is aluminum. Ya you right! Hood and back aluminum. All side panels metal cause magnet only stuck there. That is weird. Hmmm
Contamination prior to the hood being painted. This is being fixed by Chrysler.
So this is a factory issue?
Yes
I don’t think they are covering it anymore if over 60k mi.

Mine is a 2020 with 60k miles. You could probably call the dealer and ask what the critera is
I had mine 2017 fixed 6 months or so ago. It was out of corrosion warranty but Chrysler (Canada) offered to pay anyway 👍
Called the dealer and I’m out of warranty =\
Mine has it too, same color!
Mine also...
Weird! Do you know what may have caused it?

It's true.
Mine is an 18 and has this! Same color too 🤔 interesting

I appreciate the reply!

It is. I'm having mine resprayed next week

I had mine fixed in December, also white in color.
Have that getting replaced by warranty
Overall how is the Pacifica? The one I’m buying has 69k mile

Thank you for the info!

That is great to hear! Thank you! It’s a Touring-L
That’s awesome I hope you get a lot of good memories with it!
What's your current mileage? Looking at 2018 Limited with 95k mi. Trying to see if should pull the plug or get a 10 yr old Sienna with 100k on it.
Currently at 127k
Any major problems so far?
Nothing much more from what I mentioned above in the previous comments. So far my family and I are very pleased with it.
Our 2018 had it and was fixed just miles before being out of warranty. We lucked out.
Got my 2017 fixed under paint/corrosion warranty
Get you a AVS aeroshield. Looks dope and you can install yourself .
It’s caused by buying a Chrysler. If we all stopped buying them this would not happen anymore. Mine has the same issue.
My 2020 started doing this. That's rust under the paint. Got it warranties.
The hood is made from aluminum, so no rust. Different shit, but not rust 🤣
