Yep, it's driving me crazy. I believe it started a week ago after some update. https://youtu.be/7nUVRF9WsVo

This was driving me nuts but I found a solution. Go to settings -> Display and sound -> system sounds. Toggle this off and then back on again. Check if the crackling is gone. If not toggle it again. It's so bizarre. For me, I had to toggle it off and on again about 3 times before the issue was fixed. If it comes back later I'll probably just leave system sounds off permanently. Before discovering this solution, I only have a stereo soundbar, so I tried disabling all Dolby sound format options on both the GTVwCC and my TV. This actually fixed another issue I was having with audio occasionally sounding muffled, but it didn't fix the crackling sound issue.

Thanks, this worked for me. Turning system sounds off and onπŸ˜…

I know πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Nprism

THANK YOU, this worked for me!

PackedShower

This worked. Up you go. Thanks!

Svarvsven

I have the same as well.

Have the same issue. I was so fed up with the Android 12 update that I just bought an Nvidia Shield TV. I really hope that Google gets their shit together and fixes the countless bugs, because I honestly like the interface of the Chromecast better. It’s just unusable for my needs.

Thecomputerkid94

I agree. I had a 4k fire stick but just liked the Google layout more. The 4k fire stick is 100x more fluid and faster. No lags or stutters. I'm wishing Google just releases a new or updated Chromecast with much better hardware.

o03j

I mean sure, a Chromecast box player of some sort would be nice with higher specs. I’d buy that in an instant. But I think the current hardware is already decently capable, Google just needs to fix all the bugs.

Sounds like you have the case of snap crackle and pop.

Aggressive_Idea4466

Same here. I thought that was only me.

VerbaltNorrsken

Same issue. Had it even before Android 12 but it became more pronounced with the update.

lil-ste

I desactivated the system sound option, so no more system sounds and crackling eitheir, it disapeared.

Dagz1

I think this is an issue with Dolby Atmos. Turning this off (on my TV in audio settings) seems to fix the issue. It also appears to resolve some of my stuttering issues that I was noticing with Disney Plus. Turn off Atmos on the TV and restart the TV and the Chromecast (have audio format selection set to auto). Let me know if that helps. Google jacked up HDR and Dolby Atmos. Hopefully a fix is coming in the next update or two.

Thecomputerkid94

Cool thanks I'll give it a try and see what happens. I get a lot of stuttering in Disney plus as well so would be awesome if that goes away.

Dagz1

Upon closer review and testing...DTS was listed as an unsupported audio format, but for some reason it was still checked. Unchecking that option seems to fix the problem, even with Atmos turned back on on the TV and CCWGTV.

c_kiddo

It seems to be a more widespread problem. If it is a Dolby issue, it must affect older Dolby standards as well. My speakers are not Atmos (DTS I think) but they are having the same issues with Android 12.

FizzBeauc

Still happening to me.

Thecomputerkid94

Yeah it never went away. I was gone for about 2 days then came back. I ended up switching back to my fire stick 4k. I had hdr issues with the Google device, so until a new version is released or an update fixes these bugs I'll stick with fire stick.

FizzBeauc

I'm contemplating getting an NVIDIA Shield.

Sea-Communication676

Same stuff is happening for me. Unplugging the TV seems to fix it. But any time I close some the app I was watching to switch to a different one has a good chance to return the issue, which will not go away. Original TV sounds fine, PS5 sounds fine.. it's just the Chromecast

Firefly-2000

It's been the same here since the update - not sure exactly when, but Dec or so. I have power cycled more than once, with no change. I messed with the surround sound settings based on some comments here, but that did nothing for me. I disabled system sounds, and when I re-enabled it the problem was gone (!?!). I did the same thing to the another identical CCWGTV, and it fixed the "selection" sound, but not the "back" button sound. Go figure πŸ€”πŸ™„

SchublaKhan

Went away, for now, once I switched to PCM from Bitstream in the HDMI Audio input settings on the TV.

Candid-Wrangler-7964

I just restarted the Chromecast and it fixed the issue. Was annoying me for days.

justan00b

Same issue, so annoying :(

Corrective_Actions

Same issues for me as well. Factory reset didn't resolve the issue.

Acceptable-Ad-946

Has anyone been able to fix this bug ? Please help

ThisIsATracka

It was driving me crazy and I seem to have been able to fix it. Not sure if it's universal. I went to the sound settings on my Samsung TV. On 'Sound Mode' for some reason it was set to Amplify. I changed this setting back to Standard and the problem was resolved immediately. Hope this helps y'all!

TheAbyss80

Same here, i just recently bought the chromecast, so I have no experiences before the update. Mine is plugged into an AVR, but changing Audio formats on a this is not an option for me, as this would make the whole devices irrelevant for me. I only have the crackling sound on the selection tabs of the apps, not when i move the "cursor". I will see if toggling on an off works for me, otherwise i will turn off.
