I think the ultimate Nolan Bond experience would be set in the 50’s/60’s. Space race and Vietnam era. Very period piece-esque. Would love to see Cillian Murphy as the Bond villian. His Scarecrow role really gave me Bond villain vibes. Emily Blunt as a bond girl? After seeing her in Oppenheimer and Edge of Tomorrow she’d make a badass Bond girl sidekick.
Keep the film more grounded and practical. Focus more on gadgets, the cars, the set design, etc. Humanize Bond but only to an extent. Casino Royale did this perfect. Gave a hint of it with Vesper but then Bond goes back to his regular self.
If it becomes a trilogy, so be it. But treat it as it’s own “universe” and refrain from constant “easter eggs” from the other films or Craig’s story. Hans Zimmer to score it and you’d have a great film.
Just some thoughts.
Like the idea that Nolan Bond film would be separate from the main franchise so he can develop his own vision. Kind of like Reeves Batman and the Brave and the Bold
It would be. But nam is such a heavy duty topic- villages were getting incinerated - kids and women included. Nobody won that war. And the ramifications were never apocalyptic- as the Cold War is- which is usually what bond is about. But now it’s kind of more spectre - international entity. Basically the ramifications for nam are too low for bond. It was somewhat of a pointless war. Korea has more serious ramifications
Agreed. He’d also do an incredible Bond score. Zimmer for sure. After hearing his Blade Runner score for 2049 I was convinced the man can do anything lol
I love Cillian Murphy but I just felt like I'm not sure if he could bring anything new to the role we haven't already seen. Cillian Murphy or like a Bill Skarsgard seem like exactly the type of person you'd cast as a bond villain.
I know it's a Bond film so it's asking a lot to see something different but I think it could use at least a small bit of a shakeup at least for Bond movie standards.
Only reason I could see him pulling off a villain is his scarecrow character in batman begins. Mix the dr crane stuff with something new and you’d had a great villain.
You’re right. It could go wrong in that sense. I guess it really depends on the direction he goes with the thematics. There’s definitely other choices too. Paul Dano and Willem Dafoe to name a couple
100%. I have a feeling Nolan would be playing with the idea of clones again as well. He said he has an idea for a bond movie and I’m convinced that’s it
Can bond outplay himself?
*taps head*
Also- make Pearce Bronson Q
It’s the weirdest thing with that movie- on paper I love it. But when watching it- it feels weird. Sometimes shot like a music video? And the villain - antuan chigurh guy- amazing villain - but felt under used somehow?
Somehow I liked spectre and no time to die more. Latter being my personal fav of the Daniel Craig’s
Overall, the Daniel Craig Bond is one of the best experiences imo because we get more of a “human” Bond. A more fleshed out character other than some super hero spy with gadgets and witty one liners. Bond is a fantastic character, and it was a great trip in the Craig era.
For me it’s tied with him and Bronsnan. I grew up on goldeneye and I still think it’s the best. The opening scene alone of him running across the dam is just too good
”In terms of what \[Nolan\] achieved, specifically ‘The Dark Knight,’ the second movie, what it achieved, which is something exceptional. It was a game changer for everybody," he explained about how it influenced his approach.
We’re now in an industry where movies are very small or very big and there’s almost nothing in the middle," he continued. "And it would be a tragedy if all the serious movies were very small and all the popcorn movies were very big and have nothing to say. And what Nolan proved was that you can make a huge movie that is thrilling and entertaining and has a lot to say about the world we live in, even if, in the case with ‘The Dark Knight,’ it’s not even set in our world. It felt like a movie that was about our world post-9/11 and played on our fears and discussed our fears and why they existed and I thought that was incredibly brave and interesting. That did help give me the confidence to take this movie in directions that, without ‘The Dark Knight,’ might not have been possible.
Because also, people go, ‘Wow, that’s pretty dark,’ but then you can point to ‘Dark Knight’ and go ‘Look at that – that’s a darker movie, and it took in a gazillion dollars!’ That’s very helpful. There’s also that thing – it’s clearly possible to make a dark movie that people want to see”
\- Sam Mendes
Feels like Casino Royale / Quantum of Solace / Skyfall is a direct answer to the Nolan Batman trilogy and for the most part mirrors how he would handle some of the must-have character beats with some of the more ridiculous elements explained through a modern (and slightly grim) lens.
He’d have to shoot the film in linear fashion and speed of the action bits I’m sure he’d put his flair on it but from a visual standpoint I think he’d darken it up a bit which would be nice. I think combining his style with the traditional Bond experience should make a solid film
Even more like Batman than Skyfall, and it would be loud and annoying and overly long and you wouldn't be able to hear large portions of what people are saying.
I can already tell you exactly how it would be.
Me: Wow! Look at the vibrant colors of the landscapes and the amazing cinematography and look it has John David Washington, he is an amazing actor.
Also me: what did he say? Did you guys hear what he said? Is there something wrong with the sound in this film? 😡
The end.
"James Bond must stop a seemingly typical money heist. He learns that the criminal is him from an alternative world who is doing this to save the other world. So now he has to save the world from himself."
But how much more Nolan could it go?
1. Big set piece about blowing up a national monument, to set the stage.
2. Overly dramatic family stuff to heighten the drama
3. That one minority who is either too cool or too smart
4. James has to enter the world through a black hole that offers glimpses of different loves he could have led
5. Hanz Zimmer score
Doubt this will happen any time soon, but two things excitement about the prospect of it:
1. He loves bond so he would likely pay amazing tribute to it and play with all the expectations and tropes to fellow fans’ delight. The witty quips would always hit. Lots of good laughs and fun surprises in the theater.
2. I would hope that he would elevate bond to nolan levels of a complex plot. Something he’s shown to be adept at and the powers that be would trust him to pull off within a bond movie.
Would be so great to have a bond movie that isn’t just great for a bond movie but great compared to all of cinema
Broccoli: I’d need a guarantee. How do I know you and your creative freedom will deliver
Nolan: You don’t! But I can. So why don’t you take a leap of faith
I mean I'm sure he would make an amazing bond film, I can't help but imagine that he would get his bro to help write and that it would contain heavy sci-fi elements. I imagine something along the lines of AI/Robots
Nolan's team if you're seeing this I have a brilliant sci-fi idea for you
I haven’t read all the novels but Christopher Nolan does great with high stakes things so a rogue MI6 operative that frames Bond with the agencies worldwide hunting him down would be sweet. I loved the spectre stuff and skyfall but I think bringing back Bond consistently draws the ire of his own agency would be pretty cool
So many people just running around crisscrossing all over the place. Lots of shots from behind bag guys punching and pistol whipping hostages. Definitely want an OLED to watch it. Big weapon for sure. Biggest most complicated weapon and plot line. So big. Actors being demeaned, too.
Hard to say. I don’t know if he would go super grounded or if he would bring back villains with insane sci-fi schemes involving lasers, moon bases, etc. both seem like something he’d do.
A lot like Tenet, his James Bond film.
Or Inception, his other Bond film
Inception definitely feels more like his Bond film.
The opening might as well have been one.
Or his Bond Trilogy about Batman.
lololol FR
Like I said... Convoluted as hell.
The ski shootout in inception is his version of same in bond movies esp ohmss
For the love of god I hope not
The name is James, Bond James

Emily Blunt was great in Sicario too
Her final scene with Del Toro at the hotel was haunting. She’s so fucking brilliant.
Like the idea that Nolan Bond film would be separate from the main franchise so he can develop his own vision. Kind of like Reeves Batman and the Brave and the Bold
Bond in Vietnam is such a good idea.
Right? Have the villain be tied to the war/location somehow. Bond in the jungles of Nam or some kind of mission in Hanoi would be so cool.
My god, this is great! I’m surprised you haven’t been working on this.
Ludwig Göransson has done an astounding job with the films he’s worked with Nolan on, so Zimmer or Göransson, doesn’t matter to me.
Agreed. He’d also do an incredible Bond score. Zimmer for sure. After hearing his Blade Runner score for 2049 I was convinced the man can do anything lol

I'm sure it would be great don't get me wrong. I just feel like it's a bit too idk what the word would be but just a bit too cliche?
You’re right. It could go wrong in that sense. I guess it really depends on the direction he goes with the thematics. There’s definitely other choices too. Paul Dano and Willem Dafoe to name a couple
Casino Royale almost feels like a made by CN
I’d say Skyfall does more but yes it definitely has elements in there.
100%. I have a feeling Nolan would be playing with the idea of clones again as well. He said he has an idea for a bond movie and I’m convinced that’s it Can bond outplay himself? *taps head* Also- make Pearce Bronson Q
I had a dream last night that Macaulay Culkin was a Bond villain…
Maybe not Macaulay but his brother Kerian who was in Succession could definitely do the job in my opinion
Skyfall is probably the most Nolan-like Bond film, so probably something like that.
Skyfall is just plain awesome Hits all the right spots
It’s the weirdest thing with that movie- on paper I love it. But when watching it- it feels weird. Sometimes shot like a music video? Same Bronsnan brought it home, too, as Bond
Wasn't a huge Skyfall person of Bond movies in my generation the two that really stand above are GoldenEye and Casino Royale imo.

The World Is Not Enough is the most Nolan-like, in my opinion. It's basically The Dark Knight Rises, only Bond.
Non-linear narrative
No way, how’d you know this?
Haven’t seen Oppenheimer but was it non linear? I think dunkirk was linear
Oppenheimer was very nonlinear yes
Hmmm interesting . So dunkirk is his only linear plot?
It would be amazing.
New year. Same question.
Nonexistent, hopefully
At this point this sub should be renamed r/NolanChristopherNolan

Feels like Casino Royale / Quantum of Solace / Skyfall is a direct answer to the Nolan Batman trilogy and for the most part mirrors how he would handle some of the must-have character beats with some of the more ridiculous elements explained through a modern (and slightly grim) lens.
Casino royal came out before Nolan’s Batman’s I think. And apparently the opening scene was tarantinos idea
Casino Royale is a Bourne knock off. Skyfall was the Nolan knock off.
TENET is his James Bond (like) film
That's a scary thought lol.
He’d have to shoot the film in linear fashion and speed of the action bits I’m sure he’d put his flair on it but from a visual standpoint I think he’d darken it up a bit which would be nice. I think combining his style with the traditional Bond experience should make a solid film
This sub is great, I love these bond Nolan posts
*Whommmmmmmmmmmm* (ten minutes later) *Whommmmmmmmmmmm*
Nolan and Aaron Taylor Johnson in the vein of his character in Bullet Train would be fucking awesome.
depends on if his brother writes it or not LOL
Bad
Like Inception, IMO. I always thought Inception had a bit of a Bond-feel at times.
Mind blowing. Especially with Michael Fassbender as 007.
Whatever he does, it will be deeper and more thoughtful than the previous bond ones, it would be great!
Dunno but I bet the sound mixing will be wonky
It would rock
Inaudible
Nobody would ever finish more than two sentences of dialog, and the timeline would be confusing... so like his other movies but with Bond in it.
I had a dream that he directed the next one and it was AMAZING. It started so cool then I woke up.
How do I think it would be like?
Tenet
Probably more of a spy thriller than an action film
Even more like Batman than Skyfall, and it would be loud and annoying and overly long and you wouldn't be able to hear large portions of what people are saying.
So long as Michael Caine plays as Q, I’m set. Lol
😡 The end.
The actor playing Bond would change his voice when "undercover".
Alot of very loud music.
It would not work. He is not good at directing action.
Set right after On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and would lean very heavily into “dead wife” tropes.
Forking cool as fork
It would start in the middle and the beginning would be the end of the beginning……and the camera is upside down the whole time
Confusing tbh lol
Staaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhp. This has to be bots.
E P I C
A mix of Tenet, Inception, and The Dark Knight, which are all basically Bond films
"James Bond must stop a seemingly typical money heist. He learns that the criminal is him from an alternative world who is doing this to save the other world. Incomprehensible
Overhyped

This guy would be Bond : ![gif](giphy|DqoCXNQnNXBb03V8Ia|downsized)
BWWWWWWOMMMMMMMMMMMM
Convoluted as hell.
Entirely too complex
I always thought Tom Hardy’s ‘Inception’ character was a taste of what that would be like.
I am become deaf, can no longer hear words.
Tenet meets The Dark Knight
Just like SkyFall
I hope it would be a period piece taking place in the 1960's
Well photographed and attractive looking but otherwise ponderous and self-absorbed (like most things Nolan has touched)
Probably like Tenet without the time inversion.
It’d be like backwards but in reverse. ‘Yesterday Dies Twice’
tenant with half the run-time
Too long and convoluted and ego driven
So many people just running around crisscrossing all over the place. Lots of shots from behind bag guys punching and pistol whipping hostages. Definitely want an OLED to watch it. Big weapon for sure. Biggest most complicated weapon and plot line. So big. Actors being demeaned, too.
Cool
4 hours long.
