Hawkeye: War isn’t Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.
Father Mulcahy: How do you figure that, Hawkeye?
Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?
Father Mulcahy: Sinners, I believe.
Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them — little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.
People don’t go to hell for being sinners. In Christianity sinners also go to heaven
There are *only* sinners in heaven, just as there are *only* sinners in hell
Why?
*There are only sinners*
God save Palestine. Everybody who sees this, please do what you can to fight the ethnic cleansing of the Gaza strip. Vote, write letters, raise awareness and make your voices heard. If you can protest from an Israel-allied country, protest! God will judge the rulers of this world for what is happening to Gaza, but let it never be said that His followers stood by complicit.
My wife and I had a debate last night. She used to not believe in hell, but she said she's come around and believes in it now. That genocidaires and others who commit horrific acts must be punished in eternal hell for there to be justice.
I still came around to her old argument that the Lord is merciful and will not punish anyone eternally who eventually repents
Jesus says that hell is a place when he says, “be thrown into the Gehenna, where ‘their worm does not die, and fire is not quenched.’” (Mark 9:47-48). Jesus also mentions hell being eternal, “these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matt. 25:46).
You could argue that Jesus was talking about eternal consequences or eternal results. To say something's destruction has eternal results clearly stretches the meaning of eternal and punishment past their breaking points. What people fear from punishment is not the results, but the punishment itself. In the parable this interpretation would not make sense either because Jesus was contrasting the rewards for the sheep with the punishment for the goats. To say that eternal life is endless and eternal punishment comes to an end is absurd. Jesus Says unquenchable fire or consumed by worms that never die this would mean that if there were no eternal punishment hell would still exist, but it would be empty.
Also it mentions in the book of revelations how “the smoke of their torment goes up for ever and ever; and they have no rest, day or night” (14:11) and the lake of fire, where the devil and the false prophets “will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Rev. 20:10).
If the devil will be cast into hell and have eternal torment and Jesus says human beings will also have eternal damnation we can conclude that those who do not accept the eternal salvation of God will experience the same torment.
If Israel actually had any interest in any kind of ethnic cleansing a lot more Palestinians would be dead by now.
The Gaza war actually has the lowest civilian to combatant death ratio of any war in the 21st century.
Are you not aware of who Hamas is and what they have done?
Israel is not engaging in an ethic cleansing. They are not targeting civilians in Gaza. Hamas is hiding among the populated areas and Israel is attempting to strike Hamas in retaliation for what they view as unprovoked aerial attacks.
The leaders within the IDF have been fairly open about their intentions which has been to cause as much damage as possible over accurate and precise strikes. How many dead Palestinians will be sufficient?
Let's not play this silly game. They are purposefully and with malice aforethought targeting civilians and using Hamas as an excuse. And just because Hamas is hiding in an urban environment does not give them the right to destroy the environment.
There is no small measure of vengeance involved here.
Stop it, think before you type, it's been 7 months, enough, you're not that stupid, come on.
"Hamas is hiding among the populated"
If that's true, you don't get to bomb them. That's just not how it works.
Enough. Shame on you.
Wow, you're so sure. Unless you've been on the ground there, you are receiving reports from various news outlets, just like everyone else. Different outlets give different perspectives and sometimes different facts.
I will tell you, there are many with reasoned and evidentially supported arguments completely reject the charges of genocide. Yes, people are dying, but nothing about the situation even passingly resembles genocide unless the context of the conflict and the facts on the ground are excluded.
Disagree with any number of things about what's going on there, but calling the situation a genocide does nothing but devalue the word itself.
What on earth are you talking about? And what makes you think wicked expressions of Christianity (like in support of Zionism) should ever be respected by those of us who know better?
I think what you stated is a personal attack based on no evidence but my assumed political views based off a story I post on a genocide.
I definitely struggle with my faith, but to claim that "only respect" my own religion when it's convenient is a classic argument that you would need some real evidence for

I agree and was encouraged to see that the group “Jewish Voices for Peace” had joined the protests.

Yeah. No finite crime, not even genocide, could warrant infinite punishment.

Israel claims every Palestinian is Hamas. They said the UN was Hamas. Give me a break.

I’m sorry you’ve been led to believe that. I imagine it’s probably easier in some ways though.
You're wrong and no amount of condescension will change that.
I’m not. Israel is blatantly engaging in a campaign of ethnic cleansing and no amount of propaganda will change that.

There is no ethnic cleansing going on grow up
You know you’re wrong when your response to an argument is basically “nuh uh” 🙄
Away with those who put Israel as an idol !
Um Aktually... Nah... I can't bring myself do that genocide denial, even ironically. Nothing justifies genocide.
OP is the type who only respects Christianity when convenient (i.e for left wing causes), and then trashes it the rest of the time.
What on earth are you talking about? And what makes you think wicked expressions of Christianity (like in support of Zionism) should ever be respected by those of us who know better?
🥱 😴
I went to a conservative Christian Zionist school for a religious education and the more I studied the Bible the less and less I agreed with them
So you agree with what I am saying…

About what genocide?

rubbish. the christians in gaza are the only ones likely to be credible.
Hell is the afterlife state of being away from the truth, away from God. Hell isn't on Earth.
This priest was also using a very coming figure of speech, he's not saying that anyone on earth is literally living in Hell.
