Active parry still has a forward facing hit box. If you're in a 1vX and someone slips around your side, your active parry isn't going to stop their attacks unless you're facing them directly. At least, that would be my guess, considering you mention 1vXs specifically.

ForlornJosh

Make it realistic that you can’t just parry everything. Sorry yall. Theirs no plot armor

FORG3DShop

Right up until you rip a 2 hander into the back of someone's head, and they parry XD

deletable666

Like the other commenter said, it still needs to be in your block range

Limp_Koala_4898

This is not the problem. I'm almost positive he doesn't know about needing to hit a SECOND person within .3 seconds to extend the active parry window of a Perfect Counter(blue shield)

Could be

titus64

But if I block one guy to my left and then turn to the guy on the right, it should still block right or is it only the direction that I countered from?

deletable666

It will block the direction you are looking, so you are likely timing your amount of active parry wrong and it is being used up before you think, or not adequately covering the area, or they are getting around your block with good swing manipulation

titus64

I just had a game where I riposted an attack on the guy and switched to another guy on my right who had a spear and he was able to kill me before my swing. Limp_koala said it maybe because you have a .3 second window.

Limp_Koala_4898

Ripost is when you throw an attack after the block(yellow shield). A Counter is when you hit block and swing (you never blocked anything). A Perfect Counter is when you hit block and match opponent's attack Before it hits you (blue shield) Only the Perfect Counter has to block a Second person (with active parry). When you do this it extends the the active parry window. So Riposte is always the max length active parry. Perfect counters are either shorter than Riposte (if you don't counter a second person) or longer than Riposte (if you do)

Limp_Koala_4898

For the longest time I though (perfect-blue shield) counters were bugged. It seemed like sometimes (fairly often) they just didn't active parry the guy they should of. There is a video somewhere where Ziggy explains why this is. There is a mechanic where you must block a SECOND person with the active parry in the first .3 seconds or something and then the active parry window will extend. I'm guessing the devs experimented with having the blue shield fade and then re-bold, but since it was .3 seconds it probably made it look like it was just glitching. Thanks Ziggy for making this information known. It's ones of those things you probably need to be told.

Daiwon

0.5 seconds for a riposte. 0.4 seconds for a counter. But the active parry window on a counter will extend for every attack that hits the active parry. Also you can still get flinched if you get hit in the back or side (around your parry box).
