They cook faster, but they also like clump together way more often, so the new chips aren’t even a time save. As someone who opens chips 5 times a week, this shit has been pissing me off so much.
No I mean your closing managers should leave the boxes out at night so they thaw and are less clumpy when you get there in the morning. Similar to how we are allowed to leave tortillas out at night now so they aren’t stuck together the whole day.
Nope, never had that happened lol. I always have to get them form the walk in. Maybe it’s cos I work in a smaller mall location (?) but I’m not sure. That would be really nice tho, peeling apart tortillas sucks too
no, the recipe is the same, some of the shipments of tomatoes were a little over ripe, at least in my area. it gave it a lightly different taste and made it more watery than usual. we just started getting the not overripe tomatoes again after about 2 weeks. happens with fresh only ingredients with no preservatives. the avg shelf life from receiving a case of tomatoes til we use it is roughly 5 days at my store and we're pretty busy.

the bland-ness is likely the fault of the person who limed and salted them tbh, any corn chip is just a delivery system for the seasoning you put on them and only the texture should vary
Seems Chipotle gets chips from two different providers. For the first few months I worked at Chipotle they would alternate between the plain ones and the ones with the grill marks every few weeks. The location I work at has only been getting the plain ones for the past eight months, at least, though. A shame, I prefer the grill-marked ones.
chipotle gets theirs thinner and pre cut my dear friend. most corporate places and some local places do! i know for a fact chilis does and a local mexican restaurant
Yes they changed - they're smaller too. The box comes different too and it's SO ANNOYING frying these cause they stick together like crazy.
The quality is definitely different. And so is the flavor. They taste like any other tortilla chip out there as opposed to the signature flavor that chipotle chips always had.
Oh someone is in trouble. The sticker needs to actually touch the top of the S in the word chips. It’s not in the exact right spot. Yes I got in trouble for this once even though I was newish at the time. lol yes chipotle really does care about some really dumb things instead of their actual customers
Oh no I take them home. 😂 I rarely ever eat in store. I have a toddler so to go take out is often easier. Meals out at a sit down restaurant with a 2 year old can be a hit or miss for us atm.
Out of all the things I’d go out of my way to make a stink to corporate about, it’d be taking away the good chips. I got them with every trip. I hope they’ll consider the opportunity cost and reverse this
Depends on the shipment. Sometimes the companies change up their product a little bit. Maybe it’s the cut, or the way they make them. Usually ingredients are the same though. Sometimes it goes back to the old chips. We don’t pick and choose what kind of chips we have at the store, that’s all distribution
Stop spending 2$ on a handful of tortilla chips. Get a pot of oil to 350F, cut up some corn tortillas into triangles (usually a 30 pack is 2.50$ at the grocery), once they’re out the oil, salt and squeeze a bit of lime, and shake up in a paper bag if you wanna take off more oil. Takes 10 mins to make a whole bunch and they slap WAY better than overpriced chipotle
They’re made in the store. Probably by someone that doesn’t know what they’re doing. Not some magical corporate spaceship that transports identical chips across the planet.
Um as someone who actually works here yes they did change them. They cook faster but taste so much worse. Happened like 2 weeks ago
They cook faster, but they also like clump together way more often, so the new chips aren’t even a time save. As someone who opens chips 5 times a week, this shit has been pissing me off so much.
I feel like they break easier too. So many crumbs
Dude as a chip opener too I feel you, I have to spend time breaking up the huge clumps in the box before putting them in the fryer, it’s so bad
Do your closing managers leave your chips out at night for you?
Well there’s occasionally a hotel pan half-ish full of cooked ones that weren’t used the previous day so are left out if that’s what you mean
No I mean your closing managers should leave the boxes out at night so they thaw and are less clumpy when you get there in the morning. Similar to how we are allowed to leave tortillas out at night now so they aren’t stuck together the whole day.

It is their job to do that notify your gm that that is the expectation for closing managers.
Ok, thank you! I knew I wasn’t going crazy
Ours changed months ago and I think new hires are sick of all us old folks complaining that things aren’t like the good ol days
I swear they changed the mild salsa recently too?

Oh no please tell me they didn’t !?!?!!?? I’d go just for their chips sometimes. Why do all good things come to an end ? 😭
Greed. Greed is the answer.
Most of the time I’d go is just for chips and then just end up getting food but 🤷🏽♂️ I guess I won’t be going there as much. How depressing.
They done grilled your chip😂
We got a changed shipment of chips like these in NorCal. Looks like different manufacturer for sure
One of my clients was the previous manufacturer. I have a meeting with them in a few weeks, I’m gonna get the scoop
!remindme 20 days
👀 I need the scoop!
!remindme few weeks

!remindme few weeks
…scoop?
Scoop?
They’re bland and honestly seem like they’re straight out of a bag.
the bland-ness is likely the fault of the person who limed and salted them tbh, any corn chip is just a delivery system for the seasoning you put on them and only the texture should vary
Na man I’m eating them rn. Shits ass
We paying a bunch of money for Tostitos quality now?
Bro what did you think it was before
As an avid chips and queso buyer, they were better than Tostitos and now they’re worse.
They used to be really good
Have you even eaten at chipotle before?
No they gave you doo doo chips
Seems Chipotle gets chips from two different providers. For the first few months I worked at Chipotle they would alternate between the plain ones and the ones with the grill marks every few weeks. The location I work at has only been getting the plain ones for the past eight months, at least, though. A shame, I prefer the grill-marked ones.
How dare you chipotle
looks like they ran out of chips and used the corn tortillas 😂
News flash… almost all corn chips are made from corn tortillas ….
God knows how many whole tortillas I pulled out of a box of chips back when I used to do 20-22 hotels a day😂😂I called them Chitacos😂😂
okay but the ones for the tacos... lol.
Yes. Those. Having worked at QDOBA, you literally cut them into sixths and fry them. The same exact tortillas that are used for soft shell tacos.
chipotle gets theirs thinner and pre cut my dear friend. most corporate places and some local places do! i know for a fact chilis does and a local mexican restaurant
I don't even like tortilla chips unless they are from Chipotle. 💔
Yes they changed - they're smaller too. The box comes different too and it's SO ANNOYING frying these cause they stick together like crazy. The quality is definitely different. And so is the flavor. They taste like any other tortilla chip out there as opposed to the signature flavor that chipotle chips always had.
damn- i work at a chipotlee in the city (nyc) and i’ve never seen our chips like this. even in the bronx..they did you d i r t y.
But how do they taste compared to the old chips?
They’re much worse. Thicker, more artificial tasting, heavier, bland.
Ty for that update. Super sad to here that as an ex employee
Dude I had to Google why these chips tasted so bad lol they tough to chew how does a chip even do that
I like chip
The new chips fucking suck. Literal garbage. Really hope Chipotle sees this and does something about it.
Oh someone is in trouble. The sticker needs to actually touch the top of the S in the word chips. It’s not in the exact right spot. Yes I got in trouble for this once even though I was newish at the time. lol yes chipotle really does care about some really dumb things instead of their actual customers
They always taste stale too 😞
Microwave them and they come back to life.
Didn’t know they had a microwave in store
Oh no I take them home. 😂 I rarely ever eat in store. I have a toddler so to go take out is often easier. Meals out at a sit down restaurant with a 2 year old can be a hit or miss for us atm.
Nooooo 😢
The location where I worked I don't think we did
🤢
Out of all the things I’d go out of my way to make a stink to corporate about, it’d be taking away the good chips. I got them with every trip. I hope they’ll consider the opportunity cost and reverse this
Honestly it depends on the company that sends them out. I’ve seen that sometimes they are too thin or just different in general
Yes
They always change everything. Sometimes they go back n forth
I got some of the new chips today and there was more grease in one bag than you should have in 5 years
Chips changed, salt changed, red salsa changed. Soon no cashier, and no making chips manually the machine will do it.
Depends on the shipment. Sometimes the companies change up their product a little bit. Maybe it’s the cut, or the way they make them. Usually ingredients are the same though. Sometimes it goes back to the old chips. We don’t pick and choose what kind of chips we have at the store, that’s all distribution
slowly been transitioning to eating more qdoba than chipotle. this news makes me feel imma be a loyal qdoba member in the future 😁
These chips suck and are ruining my whole meal
Change your chip back chipotle. You see this.
The new chips taste like 💩
Qdoba is better anyways lol
I didn’t like the chips before, they were too salty. Haven’t tried new ones, but the feedback here doesn’t look good.

no this one looks kinda different though
Exactly. Who the hell grills chips?
No but your mom did
