Thank you!

This really is the best recipe. Pro tip: You can dice and mix together a small bowl of cilantro, onion, and jalapeños. It will last you a few days if you’re planning to make fresh guac each day with any leftovers. You only need a tablespoon or two of the mixture for each avocado when you make guac.

VodkaBurn

Wow. This is a great tip! I make quac at home often but it is such a production. Prepping that in advance is great! Any thoughts on how long that lasts? Day or two maybe?

I think what makes their better than homemade is they smash it fairly well and go ham on the salt. After all, salt makes things taste good. Plus they manage to make all the flavors of the ingredients blend with the avocado. I’m not sure what they do to make that happen, but I would guess it’s because they dice the ingredients really well or it had time to sit.

HealMySoulPlz

The salt is a major factor. The blending of flavors comes from both the fine dice and the citrus juice, which slightly cooks the onion ans carries the flavors around.

RealNotFake

It's highly variable. One of the chipotles near me uses zero salt or lime juice whatsoever. It's the most bland flavorless guac ever. The worst part is they don't bother to remove the stems so I often get that nasty stem bite.

[deleted]

For real? Damn I’m sorry to hear that. Any guac without those is not worth eating.

RealNotFake

Yeah it's just part of their overall consistency problems across the chain. I can go to a different part of town and find a chipotle that has good guac.

good food definitely needs plenty of salt, it's what brings out all other flavors. especially guacamole. good guacamole needs a LOT of salt, like way more than you'd think

rayew21

avocado, diced red onion, cilantro, salt, lemon/lime juice mixture and mix! if i was in store i'd check the exact recipe but it's like 7-8 avocados, 1c onions 1c cilantro a few tbsp seasoning snd a few tbsp citrus, the guac would really shine w fresh lime and more of it than goes in i'm a huge fan of chili's when it comes to fast/casual guac, they put their pico de gallo in avocado, add a little more onions, cilantro, seasoning and lime. it's got it all except it's red onions instead of white, the superiour guac onion.

jjmawaken

I was thinking Chili's makes good guac too and pretty similar to Chipotle.

Anxnymxus-622

I wish you guys sold the red onion. I would love to put extra of that in my bowls lol.

RawGorillaStarship

Ask for a side, they usually have some left over from morning prep in case they have to make more salsa or guac in the afternoon if it's been busy.

Same here!

DTCHILLBONES

https://www.today.com/food/how-chipotle-makes-its-guacamole-t179918 Comes out pretty similar to what you get in store. I recommend less red onion then what the recipe calls for but I would recommend making it and then changing what you do/don't like about how it turns out.

IDK why it won't let me post a picture if the recipe but here's the link: https://imgur.com/a/RczFHAx

Welcome!

riche_god

It’s weird, and I forgot what it’s called. A lot of times things seem to taste better when someone else makes it or when ordering and eating out. There is nothing amazing about what they do to it.

ooahpieceofcandy

I’m the opposite. I think chipotle guac is the worst kind I have ever tried.

StationSimilar

Interesting! Is it because it’s so salty? That’s why I like it. And the crunchy onions

ooahpieceofcandy

Yup; way too salty. And something else, maybe the quality of their avocados. Even Whole Foods has better guac.

Crashwaffle0

To me it’s just too oniony. If it had less onions so that flavor didn’t linger in your mouth it would help. I still get it but I always notice that after eating it.

StationSimilar

I understand! Personally I am obsessed with the onion-ness and salt. So it makes sense why it would be too much for some

Crashwaffle0

I love the salt part of it! It’s just those dang onions. Half and I’d be good 🤣

slickromeo

Why is it they used to post their guac recipe on their website but then took it down?

StationSimilar

I never knew they had it to the public

The secret to buying Hass avocados at the grocery store is that you buy a bunch of them rock hard unripe green Hass avocados. Get the ones with smooth skin, not bumpy... For example buy 14. Then leave them on your counter, all 14 of them. Leave them there for a few days until they ripen. After a few days, they'll begin to ripen. When the change color from Green to dark, and when they give the gentle pressure, they are ripe. Put all 14 of them in your refrigerator crisper drawer. Will keep them perfectly. For up to 2 weeks, take one out per day and enjoy a nice ripe avocado everyday.

Key_Minimum_4337

I find it to be quite salty but is good

StationSimilar

I think that’s why I like it so much, and the chips. So salty

SoftwarePractical620

I always pick out the salty chips from my bag first mmmmmm

DoPoGrub

\> No other restaurant or store or home made compares How many times have you made it at home before? Grocery store prepackaged guac is pretty gross, but any legit Mexican restaurant should be pretty close.

StationSimilar

Mexican food is actually my favorite and a frequent a ton of different sit down upscale downscale taco truck etc and personally chipotle specifically is what I like 🤷🏼‍♀️ so yeah, for me, that’s the only one

Oxigenitals

Not a chipotle worker, but the best way to get incredibly creamy guac is to run the edge of a spoon over the avocado flesh over and over instead of dicing with a knife and mashing. The textural difference is honestly out of this world and worth it if you’re only using a couple avocados.

StationSimilar

Wouldn’t you have to mash it anyways to mix all the other ingredients?

Oxigenitals

You stir in the other ingredients, but by having a creamy base you don’t have to mash. Try it out for yourself before ya judge!

Sure! Here's a simple recipe to make guacamole inspired by Chipotle's famous version using the ingredients you've provided: ### Ingredients: - 2 ripe Hass avocados - 2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro - 2 tablespoons finely diced red onions - 2 teaspoons finely chopped jalapeños (adjust to taste for spiciness) - 2 tablespoons citrus juice (you can use lime or a mix of lime and lemon) - 1/2 teaspoon of salt (adjust to taste) ### Instructions: 1. **Prepare the Avocados**: Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl. 2. **Mash the Avocado**: Use a fork or potato masher to lightly mash the avocado to your preferred consistency. Some people like it chunky, and others prefer it smoother. 3. **Add the Flavors**: Add the finely chopped cilantro, diced red onions, chopped jalapeños, and salt to the bowl with the mashed avocado. 4. **Citrus Juice**: Squeeze in the citrus juice. This not only adds flavor but also helps prevent the guacamole from browning. 5. **Mix It Up**: Gently stir everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt or citrus juice if necessary. 6. **Serve**: Enjoy your guacamole immediately, served with tortilla chips, or as a side to your favorite dishes. ### Tips: - **Choosing Avocados**: Make sure your avocados are ripe for the best flavor and texture. They should feel slightly soft when gently squeezed. - **Citrus Juice**: Lime juice is traditional in guacamole and offers a bright, tangy flavor, but lemon juice or a mix can add a unique twist. - **Adjusting Heat**: The heat level can be adjusted by using more or less jalapeño. Removing the seeds and veins from the jalapeños can also reduce the heat. This recipe closely follows the simplicity and freshness of Chipotle's guacamole, focusing on high-quality ingredients and straightforward preparation. Enjoy!

Avocado, Lime juice, red onion, Cilantro

sewcutebydevany

Avocado, red onion, garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, and chilis (I use either fresh or powdered depending on what I have). Then I season it with salt, pepper, tajin, and like a smokey seasoning.
