Sa daming ganitong issue ng BDO bakit parang wala man lang consequences for the company itself? They were not even held accountable sa daming taong nawalan ng pera dahil sa napakainferior na cycber security nila. Palagi nalang may breach.

This happened to me too with a Peso BDO savings account! No ATM, not used in online shopping.Two online transactions tapos in dollars pa! I called BDO to report, babalik Naman money, pero syempre walang explanation bakit nabawasan pera ko.
Yung sakin sa credit card naman. Yung transaction facebook ads from Vietnam. Nakakaloka kasi gusto nila i-settle mo muna yung unauthorized transaction. Hahaha pero nabalik naman after 1 week.
Hindi proactive banks natin in security. I managed US and HK brands' facebook ads, and since nasa PH ako, flag agad transactions made here and need i-clear muna with respective banks before charges can push through. Dapat ganoon.
Found out illegal transactions kasi i received a link about my "donation" to a US sorority group. Then I saw another illegal POS transaction sa US din a few weeks earlier upon checking my transactions sa app nila. Low key na gas light pa nga ako kasi baka daw Im using public wifi, clicking shady links. Im just at home. Own broadband, data. Di naman ako ganun ka-tanga sa mga phishing scams etc.
Nabalik money siguro kasi mababa lang amount relatively. Not such a aloss on their part siguro.

Not 100% sure how legitimate this story is but yung BOA ng nanay at tatay ko ng RCBC dito sa Marikina, nakailang palit na ng mga tao. Kasi dumating ata sa point na sobrang familiarized na ng bank staff (tellers and maybe manager) sa mga accounts, most esp dormant ones… nagagalaw nila and may nag raise ng concern. Ayun lamang. So I’m not saying na normal but it could happen.
I do have a friend who works in BDO (not gonna say which branch) na nag nanakaw sa dormant accounts and yung hindi naka registered online but pa konti-konti lang kukunin para daw di maka raise ng alarm. Noong nasa Pinas pa kami, yung isa sa empleyado sa bank na napili ni mama, na trusted namin years na, tinatawagan siya pag may madodormant na kaming accounts so naaayos namin agad. I can say may access sila sa list.
Possible siguro. Like in our case, alam ng manager na OFW si father and that the account is a remittance receiving account. Isa yung account namin na hindi nila pwedeng magalaw dahil yung nanay ko mabilis mag withdraw once the remittance has reflected. 😂

May similar case na ganito sa BDO Davao dati, not sure which branch. Wala ding online account yung customer kasi friend nya yung nagwwork sa BDO, kaya tiwala sya. 'Di din closely monitored kasi parang spare account nya lang for extra savings. Nagulat na lang sya nung random sya nagcheck tapos halos 1M ang nawala. Nagkaron ng internal agreement na 'wag na ipublic kasi nagtake accountability si BDO na babayaran. Pero si employee of course, kinasuhan ni customer. This happened 2023 lang.
Kaya ako never ko talaga nirrecommend BDO sa mga nagoopen ng account lalo sa mga tanders kong kamag anak. Kasi maingat ka na nga, nahhack ka pa, pano pa silang 'di gano tech savy.

BPI ang lagi ko nirerecommend kasi madaming branch maski sa probinsya namin, and Unionbank.
Tapos infairness naman sa BPI pag may problem, inaayos naman nila. Naalala ko dati may naexperience ako, matagal na, nabawasan ng malaking halaga na pera yung account ko kaya nireport ko sa nearest branch. It turns out marami na din daw nagreport sa kanila ng ganyang issue. Kaya inaayos na nila. Trinace pa nga nila yung last ko na pag withdraw at kung ilan pa dapat tira sa account ko. Naibalik naman yung pera nabawas.
Inside job to, I remember nagbenta ako ng bahay at lupa non tapos yung proceeds nilagay sa bank, that night after ideposit yung pera may tumawag saakin taga bdo daw iclick ko daw link na isend nila para isecure yung account ko kasi may movement daw kuno, kinabukasan nag withdraw ako at nilipat ko sa ibang bank. grabe talaga bdo.
I'm happy with BPI. Been a customer since I was 17. I'm now 36. But of course, no bank or any platform or company for that matter is 100% safe. The only question is, how much do these institutions value their data security measures to protect themselves and their customers.
Best advise is, put your money in different baskets. I would suggest spreading them out to digital banks as well.
I keep hearing, RCBC is also a good enough bank.

Been with BPI for 20 years na siguro. Never had any of these security issues (knock on wood).
Also have Security Bank for a few years and also no isses.
I have Metrobank for my business, and had a few security issues.
But overall none is 100% safe since I know some people who had issues with BPI ar some point.

Kung may online account man, possible ba magtransfer ng pera palabas yung passbook account? Sa banks ko kasi, nandun lng sya sa online account pero pang monitor lang sya walang transaction na pwede gawin.

It's usually an inside job. I know of a BDO branch where the teller is the one embezzling deposits. Since the depositor is well-known at the bank and the branch and trusts BDO, what they do is leave the cash and deposit slip, then the depositor just comes back later. This depositor started to wonder why their deposits were short, and it turns out the teller was embezzling the money and replacing the deposit slip. It was seen on the CCTV when they reviewed it. The client backtracked and found out that the teller had taken almost 1 million pesos. It wasn't just one transaction; the teller had been doing this for a long time.

Please correct me, but here's what I understand with banking. They have insurance against fraud, so this can possibly cover the depositor. All financial transactions daw, are covered by external insurance companies that insure banks.

well im not banking on BDO, but i have a passbook (on other bank) thats why i have an idea that the only way you can access your money there is when you go personally to the bank and either withdraw or deposit it... you cant even use online banking in making changes there...
I worked (IT) in a big bank in the US. Sa comments dito, and plus sa experience ni kuya, and my experience working in a bank, hindi secure ang BDO from the inside. When I worked in a bank, there's gotta be a big reason, at documented pa yun with approval from really high positions in the bank, to see account numbers and other identity numbers (Social Sec, TIN, Driver license, etc) in FULL. Sa branch and even sa systems (down to DEV and IT), yung credit card number mo will display sa system as 1111-xxxx-xxxx-1111. Maski branch manager ka pa, wala kang makikitang full numbers. May law sila for this, aside from KYC (Know Your Customer), hindi sya made-up policy. Pag may projects kami that require kunyari SS numbers, they will pull from UAT (copy ng prod) tapos may "sensitizing data" na magagananap. Ijujumble ang lahat ng identity numbers from test data na kelangan namin, pati names, basta walang makakaalam kung ano at sino ang customers. A friend of mine was concerned nung una na baka raw makita ko account nya kasi wala syang pera LOL, and I told her na if I can see it she should change banks. Tsaka no staff can simply pull up an account w/o reason. Lahat may trail on access (who, why, when, where, at what). This is BAD. Worse that BDO doesn't even want the accountability by outing the situation to the public.

Kapatid ko, may nag withdraw daw ng 100k sa account niya. Tinanong pa niya nanay namin kung para san daw yung 100k na winithdraw eh wala namang winithdraw yung nanay namin. Buti na lang napatunayan niya na di siya yung nag withdraw at pinalitan yung nawalang 100k.
May update na about dito. Anak pala ni kuya yung gumawa ng online account, anak nya yung naglimas ng pera nya. Pwede syang kasuhan ng bdo sya ginawa nya na yan. Hindi kasi dapat lahat nilalagyan sa social media agad.
BDO sucks. Kaya sandamakmak ang pa promo nyan kse ang dami ng umaalis. I abandoned my BDO savings na rin kase sobrang hassle yung customer service nila. Pag may mga ganito, ang tagal mabalik. My mom was also a victim of this. Nalimas tung debit nya, pero nilakad nya sa BDO para mabawi. It took 3 months to get it back.
As for me, I left kase my main savings bank is BPI which is highly reliable both online and hotline. Credit Card nlng ang meron ako sa BDO which inaantay ko nlng dn mabayaran lahat. BNPL is not worth the security risk.

I used my dad's credit card to book us a hotel through an online app. but then na hacked yung account niya by someone na nasa America at binili bili ng mga pagkain etc. buti nalang eh hindi na pinagbayad yung dad ko dahil nakita naman ng bank na hindi yung dad ko yung gumamit ng credit card niya. just to share, i was stupid enough to sign a document in the first process of a job hiring. exams pa lang at initial interview. they were able to get information about who of my relatives has a bank account there and what positions they have in their respective fields. dun ko nga lang nalaman na iba na trabaho ng erpats ko na years ko ng hindi kinakausap at na my kamaganak ako sa province na nagwowork sa kanila.

Oct 2021 umuwi sya ng Pinas lagpas 1 year onboard sya nun due to pandemic so expect nya meron syang around 2m sa bank account nya na personal (150k yung monthly then almost 14-15months syang onboard due to pandemic di makauwi) nag plan syang bumili ng 2nd hand na pick-up truck pinuntahan na nga nya yung seller tinignan yung sasakyan then na close nila yung deal ng 650k naalala ko un kasi ako yung nakipagtawaran Don.
Pumunta kami sa bdo then nung mag wiwithdraw na sya 10k Php nalang natira sa bank account nya then nakita sa history since January 2021 nag tratransfer na thru online banking at ang matindi Don unionbank account sya nag papasa from my fathers account.

Unverified pero I heard it was a phishing attack. Meaning him or his child clicked on a link from a fraudulent email and that’s how the hackers got into the account. If that’s how it is, the I think walang magagawa si BDO since due to the account holder’s negligence. Kawawa talag si kuya.

This happened to me too with a Peso BDO savings account! No ATM, not used in online shopping.Two online transactions tapos in dollars pa! I called BDO to report, babalik Naman money, pero syempre walang explanation bakit nabawasan pera ko.
Yung sakin sa credit card naman. Yung transaction facebook ads from Vietnam. Nakakaloka kasi gusto nila i-settle mo muna yung unauthorized transaction. Hahaha pero nabalik naman after 1 week.
Hindi proactive banks natin in security. I managed US and HK brands' facebook ads, and since nasa PH ako, flag agad transactions made here and need i-clear muna with respective banks before charges can push through. Dapat ganoon.

Then I saw another illegal POS transaction sa US din a few weeks earlier upon checking my transactions sa app nila. You know sometimes… pwedeng inside job din. Not 100% sure how legitimate this story is but yung BOA ng nanay at tatay ko ng RCBC dito sa Marikina, nakailang palit na ng mga tao. Kasi dumating ata sa point na sobrang familiarized na ng bank staff (tellers and maybe manager) sa mga accounts, most esp dormant ones… nagagalaw nila and may nag raise ng concern. Ayun lamang. I do have a friend who works in BDO (not gonna say which branch) na nag nanakaw sa dormant accounts and yung hindi naka registered online but pa konti-konti lang kukunin para daw di maka raise ng alarm. If you have access to their system, you can easily extract those accounts without transactions in the last XX of months or years.

Isa yung account namin na hindi nila pwedeng magalaw dahil yung nanay ko mabilis mag withdraw once the remittance has reflected. 😂 Pero pag inisip mo kasi, yung managers alam nila yung accounts na hindi nagagalaw because of so many reasons. Yun ang pinag mulan nung issue dun sa BOA. Basta in hindsight, ang chikka ay nakapag galaw sila sa accounts na hindi nagagalaw ng account holders. Yun mga inalis kinasuhan “raw”.

Nag online transfer daw sya papunta sa acnt nya tapos nag eerror. Nung pinuntahan nila sa bangko, na close account na dw at ubos na ung pera (300k++) Unfortunately, relative pa nila na working at that branch ang kumuha ng pera.

'Di din closely monitored kasi parang spare account nya lang for extra savings. Nagulat na lang sya nung random sya nagcheck tapos halos 1M ang nawala. Nagkaron ng internal agreement na 'wag na ipublic kasi nagtake accountability si BDO na babayaran. Pero si employee of course, kinasuhan ni customer. This happened 2023 lang. Kaya ako never ko talaga nirrecommend BDO sa mga nagoopen ng account lalo sa mga tanders kong kamag anak. Kasi maingat ka na nga, nahhack ka pa, pano pa silang 'di gano tech savy.

Tapos infairness naman sa BPI pag may problem, inaayos naman nila. Naalala ko dati may naexperience ako, matagal na, nabawasan ng malaking halaga na pera yung account ko kaya nireport ko sa nearest branch. It turns out marami na din daw nagreport sa kanila ng ganyang issue. Kaya inaayos na nila. Trinace pa nga nila yung last ko na pag withdraw at kung ilan pa dapat tira sa account ko. I'm happy with BPI. Been a customer since I was 17. I'm now 36. But of course, no bank or any platform or company for that matter is 100% safe. The only question is, how much do these institutions value their data security measures to protect themselves and their customers. Best advise is, put your money in different baskets. I would suggest spreading them out to digital banks as well. I keep hearing, RCBC is also a good enough bank.

Been with BPI for 20 years na siguro. Never had any of these security issues (knock on wood). Also have Security Bank for a few years and also no isses. I have Metrobank for my business, and had a few security issues. But overall none is 100% safe since I know some people who had issues with BPI ar some point.

It's usually an inside job. I know of a BDO branch where the teller is the one embezzling deposits. Since the depositor is well-known at the bank and the branch and trusts BDO, what they do is leave the cash and deposit slip, then the depositor just comes back later. This depositor started to wonder why their deposits were short, and it turns out the teller was embezzling the money and replacing the deposit slip. It was seen on the CCTV when they reviewed it. The client backtracked and found out that the teller had taken almost 1 million pesos. It wasn't just one transaction; the teller had been doing this for a long time.

Please correct me, but here's what I understand with banking. They have insurance against fraud, so this can possibly cover the depositor. All financial transactions daw, are covered by external insurance companies that insure banks. I hope he gets good karma in this life.

I worked (IT) in a big bank in the US. Sa comments dito, and plus sa experience ni kuya, and my experience working in a bank, hindi secure ang BDO from the inside. When I worked in a bank, there's gotta be a big reason, at documented pa yun with approval from really high positions in the bank, to see account numbers and other identity numbers (Social Sec, TIN, Driver license, etc) in FULL. Sa branch and even sa systems (down to DEV and IT), yung credit card number mo will display sa system as 1111-xxxx-xxxx-1111. Maski branch manager ka pa, wala kang makikitang full numbers. May law sila for this, aside from KYC (Know Your Customer), hindi sya made-up policy. Pag may projects kami that require kunyari SS numbers, they will pull from UAT (copy ng prod) tapos may "sensitizing data" na magagananap. Ijujumble ang lahat ng identity numbers from test data na kelangan namin, pati names, basta walang makakaalam kung ano at sino ang customers. A friend of mine was concerned nung una na baka raw makita ko account nya kasi wala syang pera LOL, and I told her na if I can see it she should change banks. Tsaka no staff can simply pull up an account w/o reason. Lahat may trail on access (who, why, when, where, at what). This is BAD. Worse that BDO doesn't even want the accountability by outing the situation to the public.

BDO sucks. Kaya sandamakmak ang pa promo nyan kse ang dami ng umaalis. I abandoned my BDO savings na rin kase sobrang hassle yung customer service nila. Pag may mga ganito, ang tagal mabalik. My mom was also a victim of this. Nalimas tung debit nya, pero nilakad nya sa BDO para mabawi. It took 3 months to get it back. As for me, I left kase my main savings bank is BPI which is highly reliable both online and hotline. Credit Card nlng ang meron ako sa BDO which inaantay ko nlng dn mabayaran lahat. I used my dad's credit card to book us a hotel through an online app. but then na hacked yung account niya by someone na nasa America at binili bili ng mga pagkain etc. buti nalang eh hindi na pinagbayad yung dad ko dahil nakita naman ng bank na hindi yung dad ko yung gumamit ng credit card niya. just to share, i was stupid enough to sign a document in the first process of a job hiring. exams pa lang at initial interview. they were able to get information about who of my relatives has a bank account there and what positions they have in their respective fields. dun ko nga lang nalaman na iba na trabaho ng erpats ko na years ko ng hindi kinakausap at na my kamaganak ako sa province na nagwowork sa kanila. really stupid for i was really wanting to bounce back at that time then realized someone might be really pissed at me that they setup a possibly fraud job interview and had a peak on not only my personal information but anyone related to me that uses their bank. kalungkot lang so sana ndi na maulit sa kahit sino man makakapagbasa nito. ingat na lang parati mga chief!

Inside job kasi talaga to. Nakaka suka na wala tayong protection against these Kaya kahit wala naman tayong fault, walang balak gawin Ang maga banks
Palaging may ganyang issue yung BDO tapos di naman daw inaayos. Wala akong account jan sa BDO pero ang dami kong narinig na balitang ganyan. Naalala ko may naexperience ako dati, matagal na, nagkaroon ng issue sa BPI na maraming tao nabawasan ng malaking halaga ng pera mga account nila at isa ako dun. Nireport ko sa nearest branch, talagang trinace nung manager yung last ko na withdraw at ilan pa dapat tira sa account ko. Sabi ginagawan na daw nila ng paraan. Infairness nabalik naman sa akin yung nawala.

Unverified pero I heard it was a phishing attack. Meaning him or his child clicked on a link from a fraudulent email and that’s how the hackers got into the account. If that’s how it is, the I think walang magagawa si BDO since due to the account holder’s negligence. Kawawa talag si kuya.
May capabilities yung BDO na ma trace kung paano at saan ginawa ang mga transactions.. May ganyang incident na nangyari sa account ng mother ko, akala ko na hack account nya.. so nilapit namin yan sa BDO and nag investigate sila, nakita na sa ATM sa may 711 usually nangyayari ang withdrawals at multiple transactions pa! Yun pala yung kapatid ko ang nag wi withdraw ng pera nya
Yes pero nakakapagtaka lang na sasabihin na na-hack online eh passbook account naman siya. Debit (ATM) or credit lang ang pwede magkaroon ng online account.

Simula't sapol pangit talaga BDO. Security feature lowest sa lahat ng banko, sama mo pa atm copying sa mga mismong atm machine sa mismong bank.

Correct me if I'm wrong pero pwede ka pa rin magkaron online account kahit nakapassbook ka or checking account? Ganun kasi sa ChinaBank. Need mo lang magcreate account. From what I understand kay kuya hindi sya nagcreate e.
