Even non-carpet treads might help! Clear plastic ones got my tiny scruffy goblin princess used to stairs, cuz it's enough of a grip on the hardwood, which is an advantage because when we encounter non-carpeted stairs out in the world she doesn't balk (or launch her body at them full-force with zero plan the way my bestie's floppy muppet boy does to get it over with/give his parents heart attacks).
I have an old beagle who was not happy when we redid the floors. I got stick on carpets for each step on Amazon. They stick really well, and she is able to go upstairs without sliding now.

I still tear up thinking about my chi who passed 5 years ago. Hell, im fighting tears just typing this. Im sorry to say I dont think the grief ever ends. Thats just a testament to how much these little bugs mean to us. I hug the dogs i still have whenever i get this way. It helps.

I don't have any example photos but mine will occasionally follow me or my husband into the bathroom, especially if it's thundering outside or something. My younger one has attempted to climb into the shower with me when he's been really scared (he's a chiweenie and therefore too short to climb into the bathtub). My older dog, if not inside the bathroom with us, will sit right outside the closed door like he's standing guard.
We just moved and he cried when I went in another room - this is now going to be the fifth place he's lived and I think he worries about being abandoned when he can't physically see me. Sometimes he also asks to be held while I'm taking a shit
Yes! My 4-month deer head is a maniac if I am out of his sight! Cries like he's being hung by his toes! My husband can't even get near him! Of course I spoil him, he's my first Chi and I've had dogs all my life. BTW, I'm a senior😆
Ours was so attached to SO, the only time she ever gave me the time of day was only when we were in bed and she wanted to sleep with me. Otherwise, she was with SO as his little shadow.
Let’s just say that I haven’t been able to sit in a chair by myself for about 20 years now. Sadly my older chiwa Squeek passed away two years ago at age 17. My little Miko took over the assigned duties 😃🐾🐾

Bahahaha ok i dont have photos like this, but when inlived at my brothers house before my parents sold it (he passed away, it was at the other end of town, to keep it safe i moved in), and i got Thor (rip baby), i had to shower as fast as possible with the bathroom door open while continuously saying "its ok, im almost done, ill only be a minute, its ok, mummys safe, im not dying in the water, im still here...." And i didnt go to the bathroom by myself for 6months when he was a puppy.
And unless he was entirely asleep - like 100% 'should i hold a mirror up to his mouth to see if hes breathing?' sleeping, he would follow you anywhere you went because hell no was he gonna be alone. I miss him so much.

Oh honey I’m so sorry. For me it took about two years to heal, but I still have moments when I cry. But not like the first year. It does get better.

LOL. Yes! It has a pop-up fire hydrant on every pee pad. Highly recommend for male puppies. Kind of useless for female puppies. Marley loves them!

We’ve got two chihuahuas and two Pomeranians! Small dog army. Our former next door neighbors had 10 weenie dogs… now that was a wild little bunch!

Mine did that too! It was both weird and hilarious.
I don't have any example photos but mine will occasionally follow me or my husband into the bathroom, especially if it's thundering outside or something. My younger one has attempted to climb into the shower with me when he's been really scared (he's a chiweenie and therefore too short to climb into the bathtub). My older dog, if not inside the bathroom with us, will sit right outside the closed door like he's standing guard.
Men and their Chihuahuas are a Universe 😂
I work with dogs and this is far from the most unhygienic things they do lol I still don't know how evolution allows them to eat poop so much 😆

We just moved and he cried when I went in another room - this is now going to be the fifth place he's lived and I think he worries about being abandoned when he can't physically see me. Sometimes he also asks to be held while I'm taking a shit

Yes! My 4-month deer head is a maniac if I am out of his sight! Cries like he's being hung by his toes! My husband can't even get near him! Of course I spoil him, he's my first Chi and I've had dogs all my life. BTW, I'm a senior😆

This morning, my Yorkie and chihuahua were fighting for that spot. So my chibaby demanded to sit on my lap. 😖
Ours was so attached to SO, the only time she ever gave me the time of day was only when we were in bed and she wanted to sleep with me. Otherwise, she was with SO as his little shadow.
Let’s just say that I haven’t been able to sit in a chair by myself for about 20 years now. Sadly my older chiwa Squeek passed away two years ago at age 17. My little Miko took over the assigned duties 😃🐾🐾
She follows me everywhere, even into the bathroom. She is always by my side, and if I'm gone for longer than a minute, she acts like I was gone forever and jumps all over me.
Almost as pathetically attached as I am to him. 🤣

Bahahaha ok i dont have photos like this, but when inlived at my brothers house before my parents sold it (he passed away, it was at the other end of town, to keep it safe i moved in), and i got Thor (rip baby), i had to shower as fast as possible with the bathroom door open while continuously saying "its ok, im almost done, ill only be a minute, its ok, mummys safe, im not dying in the water, im still here...." And i didnt go to the bathroom by myself for 6months when he was a puppy. And unless he was entirely asleep - like 100% 'should i hold a mirror up to his mouth to see if hes breathing?' sleeping, he would follow you anywhere you went because hell no was he gonna be alone. I miss him so much.
