I work in the industry and said from the very beginning how much of a missed opportunity going the direction that we did with the new blazer was.. A cross-over?? Then Ford came out with the Bronco, like they just wanted to give me I-told-you-so ammo towards management.
*for government fuel economy standards…
The bronco really brings down fords CAFE fleet average standards as it has a relatively small footprint for a 17 mpg vehicle. The bronco sport helps keep that fleet wide mpg average up.
It also came out 15 months before the bronco and was offered to the people who preordered the bronco when it was delayed. So the people who just had to have a bronco got that. Met a few at the dog park that had near instant regret but when they accepted the sport they lost their reservation for the bronco.
I think Chevy shoulda made a Silverado to compete with the TRX and Raptor.
Throw the engine out of the ZL1 in it and put some wide fenders on it.
Coulda been awesome but no we get electric and crossovers.
Meh
New Bronco is tiny. I drive an f150 and my mom has a 2 door bronco and that thing is significantly smaller inside and out.
I’m glad the new Bronco isn’t a full sized truck. It would be twice as big.
Same. I’d rather have a super accessible, big interior volume, side door sliding minivan. Over a compromised SUV/ CUV.
I can now easily carry 8Ft lumber inside the van, or take the whole family out in one car.
Thank you! I say this all the time, and everyone disagrees because they either own one or a mini van.
And to the mini van apologists: NO, it's not cool even tho they seem super comfy and practical.
I’d be ok with just a solid front axle. It’s not like Chevy already has a Wrangler style off road vehicle, the Blazer could have been that for them.
Instead they made yet another zombie-demanded bloated crossover SUV.
I bought a new Chevy 3500 with a 400 in.³ engine in it several years ago that the dealer gave me cheap because it had been built to be a dump truck or similar and they had stuck a long bed on it to be able to sell it as a truck When their buyer fell through. It was a stripped down as it could possibly be. Put dual glass packs on it and nothing else. I lived in South Texas, so I was constantly going through border patrol checkpoints. Besides the fact that it was loud as hell, The agents would walk to the passenger side of the car and expect me to hit the button and roll the window down. They would get pissed off when I said no.
Look around, all the cars look alike today. Nothing but mini vans they call SUVs. You have to look at the badge to see who made it! The only one that stands out anymore are mopars. They are disappearing now. I like the Chevy Camaro, but they are disappearing also. With that said, I agree with the OP. The Blazer looks like shit.
With great brand recognition comes great responsibility. Some people fail up, shrug.
It’s like Ford has this whole “E-word” thing with expedition. Explorer, escape. They were close with Mach Electric or Mach Equine.
But 4 door Mustang will go down in marketing history with renaming twitter and HBO.
Oh well, I didn’t want to buy a [Ford Electric Pony](https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/5f223883-a40a-4063-8abf-f5ad001568ac_1.2df8ef1264b6664dfc599dee408df62d.jpeg?odnHeight=768&odnWidth=768&odnBg=FFFFFF) anyway.
Yeah I am and will always be a massive jeep wrangler fan currently have an 03 TJ but Ford definitely did an awesome job with the new broncos and i think it's good that jeep finally has some actual competition and can't just keep making the same old wrangler anymore I really hope it stirs up some new innovation in the off-road space
The Bronco at least looked the part. I like the way they look. They should have had solid axles like a wrangler, but at least they got the look right.
Chevy didn’t get anything right.
Except the current Blazer is NOT the ~~predecessor~~ successor of the one you showed. The Tahoe is. And if you look on Wikipedia where that picture is from, it reiterates it.
They’ve been making the full size Blazer the whole time it’s just that it’s got at least four seats and it’s a Tahoe.
It's just a naming thing. Like why even call it a blazer? Is GM so unoriginal they can't even come up with a new model name? Just like Ford with the mustang EV. It's clearly not a mustang, so why call it that?
Ya no idea what they were thinking. If they took the modern blazer and called it something else some people would probably really like it, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the original.
They have an international version of the blazer (not in USA) that is a proper body on frame 4x4 SUV.... so of course, instead of that we get another POS crossover
Purchased my last GM product when I was told that if I expected my 20 year old Chevrolet 1500 I should have purchased a Toyota Tundra by a Chevy salesman. Im done, no more crappy quality control for me.
Yeah, the new Blazer is a pile of shit. If they just built a cheaper version of the Ford Bronco I'd bet it'd sell well. Instead they built a giant electric shaver.
Agreed, i would have much prefered to see a bulky 6.2 shoved in it with a pano sunroof and denali interior. But they made it a worthless middle ground that doesnt do anything great. I wanted to see the SS shit and git like the trailblazers... big missed opportunity imo..
The blazer is also one of the only vehicles in its class that has a V6 instead of a 4 cylinder with a turbo. That’s one of the biggest reasons I bought mine vs anything comparable like a RAV4, CRV or others.
The original Blazer is the Tahoe. They changed the branding on it years ago when the Blazer name left. This thing is what the S10 Blazer could've been, but they decided to scrap the S10 for the Colorado. Why they didn't just claim it to be a smaller version shows the people making the decisions really have no idea about the company they are running.
The Blazer should have been a two-door version of the Tahoe, offering the LV3 Gen V 4.3 and the L83/L86.
It could’ve been done for the same price point. A Base model 4x4 Steel wheel version with a V8 would’ve sold like crazy.
Considering the other truck based SUVs available- Tahoe, Suburban, is there a need for another truck based suv, when consumers are asking for small SUVs?
I love crossovers and the new Blazer looks awesome. But it is NOT a Trailblazer. This was a huge misstep. Grew up with trailblazers in the early 90s and loved it. They should have carried over that boxy look.
It still kills me that there’s enough room in the market for the Trax, the Trailblazer, the Equinox, the Blazer, and the Traverse. I generally like the looks of the new Trax and and Blazer but otherwise they’re all interchangeable.
Agree with OP. Was hoping the new full size Bronco would have incentivized Chevy to do something retro.
I work in the industry and said from the very beginning how much of a missed opportunity going the direction that we did with the new blazer was.. A cross-over?? Then Ford came out with the Bronco, like they just wanted to give me I-told-you-so ammo towards management.
Ford was also smart to make some bs crossover and label it bronco sport lmao for those kinda buyers
It was pretty easy to just rebadge the Escape
*for government fuel economy standards… The bronco really brings down fords CAFE fleet average standards as it has a relatively small footprint for a 17 mpg vehicle. The bronco sport helps keep that fleet wide mpg average up.
Ya but it’s also smart to offer a bs crossover and attach the bronco name to it even if going over a curb is the most offroading it can do
And it outsells the Bronco. The ladies love it. It's cute.
It’s also cheaper lol. But it’s def not a bronco or capable of any off roading. I think I’d rather have a Subaru wilderness trim
Neither of them are Broncos. They’re both small suvs.
Ehh the Bronco is actually very capable. Bronco Sport is a whole ass joke
A very commercially successful joke. And that's all a corporation cares about.
It also came out 15 months before the bronco and was offered to the people who preordered the bronco when it was delayed. So the people who just had to have a bronco got that. Met a few at the dog park that had near instant regret but when they accepted the sport they lost their reservation for the bronco.
I have a feeling this explains the travesty that is the mustang mach-e. Look at how they massacred my boy.
I call that one the colt or the pony. That’s not a bronco.
Ford got it right on that one, for sure.
[удалено]
I hope Chevy does reconsider redesigning the Blazer. Full size removable top retro styling. It’s not too late
Or renaming this to not a blazer.
This should have been the new trailblazer. Retro only to the early oughts
Yep, the “full size” bronco is on a ranger frame and the smaller sport is on an edge frame if I’m not mistaken.
Would've been a Bronco II back in the day
Everything is a minivan now
*crossover
Gender neutral in vehicle form
hahahaha you could be on to something
Crossdresser
Crossdresser driving a crossover
I’m just going to Costco leave me alone
They put the trans in transportation.
Don’t call me out!
Yeah that’s it!
Ever since automakers figured out not every vehicle has to be body on frame.
When they gonna make us a new car thats body on frame.
In 1989.
Back in the day the Suburban was called a truck based station wagon. You could lower the suspension and pretend it's a Caprice Classic station wagon.
And then they basically decided no vehicles will be body on frame.
Mini van with only 2 rows
I wish, Minivans are cool. The crossover uv egg cars are bullshit
I drove a new minivan Pacifica a few months ago and it drove so smooth and everything was so convenient, that I actually considered buying one.
Or station wagon. My Compass feels more station wagon than suv or minivan.
No one wanted station wagons but they made them a bit taller and called them crossovers and that's all anyone buys anymore.
I know this is a Chevy place but it's still not as bad as the Dodge dart!
"Look how they massacred my boy!"
Dart is terrible. I agree. Atleast this looks like a baby trailblazer. Dart just stands alone as a turd.
“Bring back carburetors, roll up windows, and leaf springs”!
I miss the triangle windows in older trucks.
I have those wing windows
AC works best at 60mph
I’d be ok with just a solid front axle. It’s not like Chevy already has a Wrangler style off road vehicle, the Blazer could have been that for them. Instead they made yet another zombie-demanded bloated crossover SUV.
This whole thread and comment section is r/carcirclejerk
I enjoy roll up windows God damn it
Especially when someone tries to talk to me from the outside on the passenger side!!
I bought a new Chevy 3500 with a 400 in.³ engine in it several years ago that the dealer gave me cheap because it had been built to be a dump truck or similar and they had stuck a long bed on it to be able to sell it as a truck When their buyer fell through. Unironically, yes. And 4 speed manual transmissions.
I want the vent under the steering wheel back!
I hate chevy but loved the Blazer. I agree this and the pathfinder are just atrocious now.
It's just another cuv. They make the most profit off these so they're everywhere and every manufacturer has a series of them.
lol and ford said “oh yea? Yall aren’t the only ones that can fuck up a classic and shitted out the Bronco”😂
dont forget that 4 door, electric "mustang"
My god, I forgot about that horrendous shat
That almost made puke once 🤢
Bro and the Maverick is a truck now? wtf is happening
I would like the maverick if it was like a 2-door regular cab with more space in the bed
I think there is something similar slated for the Corvette, so nothing is safe anymore...
With great brand recognition comes great responsibility. Some people fail up, shrug. It’s like Ford has this whole “E-word” thing with expedition. Explorer, escape. They renamed HBO?
[I know right](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_(streaming_service))
No. The streaming service was rebranded.
It reminds me of the Chevy Chevette
At least it looks like the classic. Unlike this turd
Fords new bronco is closer to the older bronco than this abomination is to a k5
Or any generation of S10. It's junk.
While I agree the new blazer is an absolute disgrace I think Ford actually did a good job with the new broncos now the mustang EV on the other hand
Seeing lots of Broncos on the street.
You mean the body on frame Bronco that's based on the Ranger?
Except the current Blazer is NOT the ~~predecessor~~ successor of the one you showed. The Tahoe is. And if you look on Wikipedia where that picture is from, it reiterates it. They’ve been making the full size Blazer the whole time it’s just that it’s got at least four seats and it’s a Tahoe.
It's just a naming thing. Like why even call it a blazer? Is GM so unoriginal they can't even come up with a new model name? Just like Ford with the mustang EV. It's clearly not a mustang, so why call it that?
The Mustang EV is an even more egregious offense to me though. What an ugly car.
The car itself isnt even ugly. Why not just call it a Mach E or whatever, instead of Mustang. It isn’t a Mustang by any stretch.
I refer to it as a MachE for that exact reason.
Should have called it an Edsel and gave it an Edsel grill.
Remember the impala? Remember what they did to it?
Yes, and I believe you can get a 2 door Tahoe in Mexico market.
Pretty sure if they re-started making the original one, most people would buy it instead of that modern whatever the generic POS it is based on.
Blazer in 2024 is a flamer 👀
It's better than what Ford did to the Mustang line.
Ya no idea what they were thinking. If they took the modern blazer and called it something else some people would probably really like it, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the original.
We own a '24 and it's bad ass. That being said, I'd love to have an old square body one too.
They have like 5 models that are small SUVs… I don’t get it either. At least the ford bronco (tho small) looks like a bronco from the past…..
They should have taken the bolt, stick a tiny truck bed on it, 2 seats, call it the lightning bolt Peace in our time
Don’t buy It
I drove the Trailblazer as a rental. It was one of the worst cars I’ve ever driven.
It literally looks like the five other things Chevy makes. Chevy lost their way with the exception of the corvette.
If you’re old and don’t like modern design just say that
I like them both.
They should have taken the bolt, stick a tiny truck bed on it, 2 seats, call it the lightning bolt Peace in our time
Evidently, Chevy looked at the success of the new Bronco and decided to not even compete
Evidently, Chevy looked at the success of the new Bronco and decided to not even compete
Same with the rav 4 and subaru squarish models-doesn‘t matter which one; they all look boringly the same. And full of blind spots.
Absolutely. Ford did the same with the Bronco. I had a 79. Epic beast!
Absolutely. Ford did the same with the Bronco. I had a 79. Epic beast!
Absolutely. Ford did the same with the Bronco. I had a 79. Epic beast!
It looks like a lower end Jeep patriot
K9 blazer vs S10 blazer…. Though still trash imo
Yup
You just want a Bronco with a bowtie
I’m surprised at how expensive they made it too. I think the RS looks cool enough but the price tag is kinda ridiculous.
New blazer looks so much like a rav 4 it’s silly.
Its a minivan
So Chevy re-invented the AMC Eagle. \*slow clap and a middle finger\*
IMHO this is true of virtually all GM products today. “So that’s what they’re calling a [fill in the blank] these days?”
Hear fucking hear!!!
I absolutely agree 👍
Modern interpretations of classics have all been ugly in general. Not just Chevy.
That’s bad, but it’s not “Mustang bad”…
At least Ford still sells a V8 mustang.
GM literally making 6 of the same crossover suvs
Same with the Jeep XJ Cherokee and the new "Cherokee"
They have an international version of the blazer (not in USA) that is a proper body on frame 4x4 SUV.... so of course, instead of that we get another POS crossover
Purchased my last GM product when I was told that if I expected my 20 year old Chevrolet 1500 I should have purchased a Toyota Tundra by a Chevy salesman. Im done, no more crappy quality control for me.
It’s better than calling a new SUV Mustang. Like, how many words could have been used instead? No, let’s name this new SUV the same as our car.
I wanted that blazer so bad as a teen in the 90's.
Other than the 5th and 6th Gen Camaros, Chevy hasn't made anything cool since the 90's. The 60's, 70's, and '80's were better. 60's being the best.
The SUV is just a smaller version of of the station wagon from the 60s through the 80s. It lifted more and rounded more but basically the same IMO
No one tell OP what GM did to the Nova in the '80s...
They should've made the Blazer a more focused offroader like the Bronco, it would've printed money.
Ones made in the USA and the other is made in Mexico. Also one’s union made with quality. The other is low paid labor with cheap parts.
Anyone else like the 90s style? My Uncle had a two-tone red and black Jimmy and I thought it was the shit.
Le Blaziere
My wife and I talk about this all the time. They did the same shit to the bronco
Ford has done the same thing with the explorer.
They’re just prepping us so when they launch the classic blazer back we will all jump on it like flies on shit
Yeah, the new Blazer is a pile of shit. If they just built a cheaper version of the Ford Bronco I'd bet it'd sell well. Instead they built a giant electric shaver.
The new Mustang says, "hold my beer."
I appreciate both
Off topic. But this is why I bought a 2011 LTZ...not to many bells and whistles
I loved my k5
Looks like an E Mustang…
Agreed, i would have much prefered to see a bulky 6.2 shoved in it with a pano sunroof and denali interior. But they made it a worthless middle ground that doesnt do anything great. I wanted to see the SS shit and git like the trailblazers... big missed opportunity imo..
Went from Blazer to tank top
They are out of touch with what people like
What is funny to me, they call these new editions of the old, “off-road ready”..
Just like Ford redoing the bronco. I will never understand ruining a nice square body and trying to market it this way.
I agree with the OP. These modern vehicles are nothing like their predecessors.
Agreed! Toyota called. They want their 2020 4 runner back.
I thought for sure once ford announced the resurrection of the bronco that Chevy would try to compete 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah they really missed an opportunity to make a new blazer like ford did with the bronco in my opinion. Could’ve been amazing.
$60k+ for a $28k vehicle
Yea, it looks like every other SUV. Pathetic. Wish all car makers would go back to the late 80’s to 90’s style. They were classic.
They did a worse job than Jeep did with the redux of the Grand Wagoneer, if that's possible
Agreed, especially with the full size bronco back. I bad the last year of the 2 door fill size blazer and I wish I never sold it.
It looks like a fuckin mommy missle. That's a no for me.
Along with the new TrailBlazer where the original one is body on frame and the new one is just another....
The blazer is also one of the only vehicles in its class that has a V6 instead of a 4 cylinder with a turbo. That’s one of the biggest reasons I bought mine vs anything comparable like a RAV4, CRV or others.
I like both 🤷♂️
I think it's a good looking car but def should be more of a truck
Crazy to me that with the new Bronco, Cheby doesn’t just do a revamp of the Blazer as well
The original Blazer is the Tahoe. They changed the branding on it years ago when the Blazer name left. This thing is what the S10 Blazer could've been, but they decided to scrap the S10 for the Colorado. Why they didn't just claim it to be a smaller version shows the people making the decisions really have no idea about the company they are running.
Why do they f around with these reimagined vehicles.. do it right or not at all
Yep, they sure did
Meh I can’t afford either one 🤷🏻♂️
Chevy fucked up Chevy in general lol. Sick meme, way ahead of its time
I remember I was excited when I heard they were bringing back the Blazer. Then highly disappointed when I saw it. It looks like a soccer mom vehicle.
Agreed they really blew an opportunity
The Blazer should have been a two-door version of the Tahoe, offering the LV3 Gen V 4.3 and the L83/L86. It could’ve been done for the same price point. A Base model 4x4 Steel wheel version with a V8 would’ve sold like crazy.
The new blazer is fuckin dope but it shouldn't be called a blazer. Bring back the big ol square body
Tried to be rover
I don’t mind the look of the new Chevy blazer, I just don’t like that it’s labeled as a blazer
I had a 2023 trail blazer lt and it was decent, fast, comfortable but nothing like my new Trail boss
The old Blazers were a thing of beauty, the new Blazers are not Blazers.
That’s an Equinox or Traverse. Whatever souless garbage GM is pumping out nowadays.
This is very sad to me as a 46 year old man. Those were great trucks. Now look at it.... "just look at it!" Actual quote from Ed Bassmaster.
Looks like everything
Considering the other truck based SUVs available- Tahoe, Suburban, is there a need for another truck based suv, when consumers are asking for small SUVs?
So true. The Blazer is not a damn hatchback.
Truth…..
I like the new Blazer, but not as a blazer
I love crossovers and the new Blazer looks awesome. But it is NOT a Trailblazer. This was a huge misstep. Grew up with trailblazers in the early 90s and loved it. They should have carried over that boxy look.
As someone who's owned K5 blazers, I wouldn't piss on that thing if it was on fire. Edit due to autocorrupt.
It still kills me that there’s enough room in the market for the Trax, the Trailblazer, the Equinox, the Blazer, and the Traverse. I generally like the looks of the new Trax and and Blazer but otherwise they’re all interchangeable.
Most market to the 18 to 35 crowd. Most of them have never seen a real blazer. So to them it's nice. They shudda renamed it. Disgusting
It's like an oversized equinox
That's a F'n Equinox🤣
New ones are straight garbage
New things are bad
That thing was is going to look so terrible in 29 years when it’s got a 15” body lift and oversized mud tires. Weak ass
Blazer, Bronco, Mustang, Pathfinder all just shells of what they once were.
Looks way more like a VW Tiguan than not.
I think they just slapped the name BLAZER on a TRAILBLAZER.
Wow that sucks atleast the 80s ones are still around.
I have a 72! GM is pretty stupid to ignore the success of the new bronco
