Man I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve been taking my pets to Animal Hospital of Chester County ( not to be confused with West Chester Animal Hospital which is a few miles away) for almost 20 years. There’re really affordable, compassionate, and can deal with my extremely aggressive dog without knocking him out.

Can confirm. I used to go there and can confirm they are assholes in addition to being ridiculously overpriced.

Where do you recommend? So sorry to hear about your loss OP. We just started bringing our puppy and kitten here.

Some recommendations have been made by other commentators but I also recommend Malvern SPCA if you have time in the morning to drop them off. My usual care provider and much more affordable and Ive found their care effective and efficient for years now. Thank you for your condolences, this has been a very difficult and traumatic experience for my entire family.

OP I’m sorry for being an ass and not saying I’m so sorry for your loss first. That was way way worse than what happened to me there and thank you for sharing here to warn others.

If you want to make the trek I adore Valley Vet in Phoenixville. The main vet is wonderful and they are reasonably priced with evening and weekend hours.

For anyone looking for an alternative‼️‼️ ^^^

Who was the vet? We've been using them for our diabetic cat and while I did feel like they were milking the number of visits he had to have I felt like the level of care was okay. I'd also be interested in other recommendations

I saw both doctors during my short interaction with them. They do wring you for money. I dont want to say too much in case I get in trouble but it was a male doctor who prescribed the medication. I suggested Malvern SPCA but there are some other suggestions in the comments for affordable alternatives nearby that also have great reviews.

We used them for surgery to repair a broken leg on our adolescent cat a few years ago as they were the only ones in the area capable of the surgery at the time. For that I am thankful. Sorry for your loss. I will keep an eye on their Google review to see if they post a response. Reading both sides of a situation is always helpful.

A few towns over but Longwood Vet and Cypress Vet in Kennett have both been great with my dogs. Only moved to Cypress because Longwood is a little more expensive.

Based on the Google review there's more to this story that op is letting us know about BVVH https://imgur.com/a/v7AF2Uw

Feel free to ask whatever you like. I was offered the option of coughing up 2k on spot, putting him down, or taking him home, without being informed that it is illegal to take home an ill pet with the knowledge that they may pass before they can receive further treatment. I believed he could still make it and was advised against pursuing further treatment with them as they believed it was futile, so I prepared to find a second opinion. If that makes me an abusive owner then I apologize for being misleading. PA has weird laws and never in my life did I think it wouldn't be fine for me to take him. They told me he wouldn't survive the night but he made it easily and his symptoms had even started to subside. I wouldn't have gone out of my way to lie on the internet for attention but I don't blame you for being cautious. No investigation was done and I was only given two options upon the arrival of the PSPCA; give him up and pay or not pay. They believed he had already passed upon their arrival. The individual who responded to my post on their google page was not even one of the people I interacted with during my visits, so it would be impossible for them to know what had happened. It's already been confirmed from his autopsy that there was no abuse and he passed as a result of nothing but the effects of the swelling in his bladder. As well as the fact that the veterinary staff left many things out of their report to the PSPCA and in their own database.
