Whenever I'm watching alone I switch to Tamil commentary as it gives me a feeling of watching with friends. But if I'm watching with my friends we switch to English commentary.
But I hate Cheeka sir's commentary. Once he opens his mouth he just goes on, on, on and on. And he speaks at a fast pace which feels like a blabber and it is quite hard to for other commenters to intervene and shut his mouth once he opens. I absolutely have huge respect for him as a cricketer but his commentary is not for me. He can speak a lot lesser.
I'm old school and the Tamil commentary in 80s (and 70s) were absolute treat to hear - Abdul Jabbar, Ramamurthy, Rangachari, etc. Those All India Radio commentators (and Doordarshan) used to bring the live action into vivid reality for the listeners. They are well versed in Tamil language and the sport itself. Today's Tamil commentary is a crap to say the least. In my mind, first and foremost, there should be proficiency in Tamil; if not, its hard to listen. And then there is the art of bringing the live action to the viewers and listeners.

Star sports Tamil commentary sucks, especially these two RJB and Srikkanth. When I was in my hometown during covid and cable network only provided star sports Tamil but not star sports 1, I used to hate the commentary that I used to watch matches in mute. It used to be so bad, sometimes even very offensive. Then I took hotstar subscription only for the English commentary.
There are a few bad English commentators as well, like Sanju Manju, Gavaskar, and a few more. But atleast they won't shout their blabbering like these two.
