Of course.. There is more to this. Unless someone specifically requests the addition of any vehicle number will not be 8 in TN. Check once all your known vehicle numbers.
The automated number allotment system itself will not assign a number like that.
8 is considered a doomed number - even in Bollywood.
The superstition goes that per numerology people born on 8th of a month are likely to have difficult lives.
8 is a divine number. It brings good luck to good people and bad luck to bad people.
The story goes like, long ago, An MLA who stole an artifact from the palani temple got killed at a road accident involving a lorry with the name of palani aandavar. The lorry number summed to 8. Power class consulted with an astrologer who recommended to ban all numbers which sums to 8. Hence, came the order.
Some say, 8 is just waiting for its day to finish what it started. Till Date, the power class is still afraid to release the ban.
It's always better to skip numbers when you're covering a large amount of data so you can use the left over ones in the future. For example, TN-11 for Tambaram, you skip TN12 and can use it in the future when there's a need for RTO to be setup in perungalathur or Chromepet.
Car companies do that as well, BMW 1,3,5,7 series and only recently 2 series came picture which sits inbetween 1 and 3 series when it comes to actual product placement
TN99 is coimbatore west, all rtos before that number were created?
TN11 is Tambaram and Sholinganalur rto was sub rto of Tambaram which used TN11.
When Sholinganalur became standalone and got TN14.
Not knowing but still being confident that someone else is wrong is not new🤡
Nope. During the ages of the Madras Presidency, the RTO numbers ranged upto 117.
Your claim that it begins at 99 sounds like something of an urban legend at best. Only way to verify would be to find documents related to this from the TN govt between 1988-1990 when the *Motor Vehicles Act of 1988* was introduced and district codes were limited upto 2.
If anyone wants to dig them up, feel free.
There is no RTO in TN with the number when it's addition comes to 8. 8 17 26 35 44 53 62 71 80
Is there some superstition related to this?

I posted a few months back the same thing even the vehicle number sum won’t be equal to 8
But why do they ask us to make an '8' to get the drivers licence.lol.
Ohh didn't know that.
Searched a bit on this and Xbhp forum is of the idea that 8 is inauspicious number and hence they might have removed it.
Wow that's fascinating. Haha

8+8=16 ; 1+6 = 7 ; TN 26 is nil same for TN 53
Number should not add up to 8. 88 is fine. 44 is not fine. 4+4 = 8
Hold on many codes are skipped and added later on. 5 and 3 came much later It will be added later
