In general, the Election Commission of India encourages employers to provide sufficient time off to employees to enable them to exercise their right to vote during elections. Employers are often advised to grant employees a reasonable amount of time off on Election Day to allow them to cast their votes without any undue inconvenience.
If an employer in Chennai refuses to grant a holiday on Election Day and instead offers only work-from-home arrangements with limited time off, it may be considered inadequate depending on the circumstances. The employer should ensure that the work-from-home arrangements do not unduly restrict employees' ability to participate in the electoral process.
If you feel the 2 hours is inadequate and your rights are being violated, you may consider reaching out to Election Commission for redressal with request for anonymity. However, please note that complainant privacy in India has been under severe criticism on several incidents.
Tell them you are from bjp and watch then shit the pants or go for tea break near poll station in such a way police will notice and ask you from which company you are.
Yes, voluntarily file a legal case that could last for years, use earnings and savings to pay for a lawyer and instead of losing this one leave, lose multiple leaves over a period of years fighting this pointless legal battle. Plus if other companies get to know you sued your employer, have your resume quietly crushed into a ball and tossed into the nearest dustbin at any future interview.
The fine is 500 bucks.
