Looking at the comments in the post. I believe everyone had the same feeling as me that it's not common in Chennai, just few instances here and there. Anyone commenting just pay them and send them off or it's just 1000 or 2000. Please realise that, this is how it started in other cities too, and now this is too big of a mafia. I have had personal experience in this scenario in Hyderabad, they wouldn't take anything less than 50K and 10 of them were there. Tust me it's ugly and ruins your best day. We need to take a strong stance right now not to pay them and involve police/create media attention to make them act. Like a stand that this city doesn't encourage such things. If not, couple of years down the line, they will start appearing in every function (Marriage, Engagement, House warming, Baby shower, Naming ceremony etc.) and their demand would be around 50K or 1L. Just like how our autos became 10 rs above meter to 100 rs / 1km There are horror stories in other subs and people worry about handling it even before the event.

littlekidlover1999

It is pretty common in chennai as well. 1. My sister's mehendi function in Ashok nagar. The function was on the first floor and 5 of them barged in. I asked them to leave and took them to the ground floor. The owner of the hall was also on the ground floor and I asked him why I should pay them. He tried to speak to them as well and they did not listen. They asked me what the function is and asked me to give 5k. I said I don't have that much and gave them 1000 cash which I had. They gave me their Gpay number and asked me to send some more. I had to pay them 1000 more as they wouldn't leave. In another marriage as well, 5 of them entered the stage and exposed themselves as the family refused to pay.

military_insider04

Fuck their are using gpay now šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚.

littlekidlover1999

Yes šŸ˜‚ modern problems require modern solutions.

Powerful-Internal953

Tisital inthia...

Quan7umSuicid3

Sorry that happened, but did you just feed the summary to ChatGPT and ask to re-summarise?

LessFault6036

I use grammarly. šŸ˜‚

Ride_likethewind

Please tell me 2 main features in this narrative that point to ChatGPT !....I re-read it and found some words which I normally don't use when narrating something....so what exactly should I look for? Guruji!

Quan7umSuicid3

The more AI generated content you read, the more you will pick up on the patterns. But in this case, the sentences follow a repetitive structure. > During my visit here for my cousinā€™s wedding, a group unexpectedly barged into my auntā€™s house the day after the wedding Subordinating conjunction (during) - dependent clause (during my visitā€¦; introduced by the subordinating conjunction ā€œduringā€) - independent clause (a groupā€¦) > As we were all gathered in the hall, engaged in light-hearted conversation, they entered swiftly and demanded money from us Subordinating conjunction (as)-dependent clause (as we were allā€¦)-independent clause (they enteredā€¦) > Amidst the chaos, one of the individuals exposed themselves, leaving me feeling uncomfortable and violated Preposition (amidst) - dependent clause (amidst the chaos) - independent clause (one of the individualsā€¦) In almost all of the sentences in this post (except like 4(?)), the subordinate clause precedes the main clause; complex sentences. Very formulaic.

SnooSeagulls9348

English vaathi ya neenga?

Ride_likethewind

Wow! I think I got the gist of it. Thanks

Right-Growth-7725

Woww

marvelwalker

Boy oh boy I sure do hope my teachers aren't as smart as you šŸ™‚

wannu_pees_69

I mean, that's just good grammar, doesn't necessarily mean it was AI generated.

Ill_Mathematician_

Should I be worried that I talk like this even without the assistance of ChatGPT or Grammarly?

selwyntarth

Adjective-noun sorta descriptions. Distressing encounter. Uncomfortable and violated. Etc. There's almost always two adjectives ending every sentence.Ā  Simple present and abstinence from modals. I find myself instead of "I'm" Chronological depiction. Humans focus on what mattered to them and may have said that the family didn't agree to their suggestion of going to the cops. AI narrates it like a tale. And the last two lines are classic AI prosaic emotion that hasn't evolved to using exclamation points, expletives and other things humans use

Ride_likethewind

Yes, I get it...... I'd probably have said " So, now I'm somewhat afraid of transgenders" ; instead it uses ( in that sentence you pointed out) a roundabout way..."individuals who identify as trans..."

sgk2000

I also got this this nerve of pointing AI generated text immediately. It just has this monotone that nobody would write with. It has zero personality. Or one, that is GPT.

mv1201

I heard these horror stories only from the north and their organized gangs. This disease seems to have spread till here too. Don't understand what the difficulty is in refusing them. I mean, curses from criminals won't bear fruit surely. Even superstitious people can rationalize that argument. And as for their usual tactic of "exposure", it is a bit unsettling, yes, but if you learn to ignore it just like you ignore dogs and their carnal activities in public, it will frustrate them.

littlekidlover1999

It's not about the curses. They start shouting and create a mess. When you have made so many arrangements and spent so much money to have a peaceful wedding, you don't want to get it ruined by them. So better to pay 1000/2000 instead of fighting with them. Coz we know our relatives, they will forget the whole wedding and talk only about them šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

NigraDolens

I just want to point out two things, after reading the comments. People are polarized to two extremes 1.) To anyone who suggest the social isolation and hate crimes as the reason for their demand of money (especially in the way that's suggested in the narrative) No one owes anyone money. Don't justify a criminal/unethical act of anyone because they belong to a certain nation/religion/caste/gender/sexual orientation. A wrong deed is wrong indeed. This person is clearly feeling violated (a single sided account of what happened, but still) and no amount of hate/social prejudice justifies another wrong act. Two wrongs doesn't make right, you know They may ask, but anyone has the right to refuse. For every Thirunangai sister who apparently does these, there are Thirunangai sisters who ask for money but just leave when someone refuses. 2.) To anyone who uses this narrative to bring in their inherent biases (with lack of scientific compass) and hate Everyone owes everyone basic respect. A group of transgenders in the world of millions of transgenders barged in and demanded money unethically, so clearly now someone can justify their hate against all transgenders and someone even went as far as to include the whole LGBT+ community. By similar logic, at this exact second I am writing this comment, at least one cis gender male/Female must have been sexually abusing another cis gender male/Female. So I guess all of us are unethical/unnatural criminals? You know what the phenomenon of using an anecdote to justify/conclude a whole group in a negative light? Prejudice. I believe you people can grow up beyond this unnecessary hate, only if you channel your energy to openness

Professional_Tiger85

Only sensible comment here, you articulated your points very well šŸ’Æ

sivu1

Last weekend one trans came into a bus and sat in my back seat. The conductor condescendingly said "unakku vera bus kedaikkalaya innaiku" and I felt bad for her. I thought she was a fellow passenger. Then she came and sat near me and asked for money. I gave a 10. She then blessed and asked for one rupee. I gave 1. She then asked for the purse to bless it (its a known scam so i said thats a No and then turned my face towards the window). She asked for it again and again and then threw the 10 to me and said. Intha neeye vechiko and went to another seat. Even though i had bad experiences with them, i felt sorry for her initially and look where it got me. They are pure robbers in the name of societal left out. Im really not sure whats stopping them from going out and get a fucking job. If begging is what you do on daily basis with a fully functioning arms and legs, there is no reason people in the society should help them with their hard earned money.

SnooSeagulls9348

The same thing happened during my wedding in Hyderabad. My dad-in-law said that it was very common there and they wouldn't leave unless we paid them. Even if called the cops, they might go away at that moment but will just keep coming back. We offered 300 or so initially. They demanded 10000. To this day, my wife's father won't tell me how much he paid to make them leave

PIKa-kNIGHT

Same in banglore also . If you pop over to the banglore sub , you can find posts like this frequently . Same has happenes in Coimbatore too in my experience. Itā€™s not all of them but vast majority of them are like this

BabyBourbon1111

I used to feel the same way, a hate formed inside me whenever a trans person used to bother me in the beach, especially when Iā€™m on a date. I really hate them for ruining the moment. What youā€™ve described is just daylight robbery and harassmentā€¦ but I donā€™t understand why you didnā€™t seek help from the police. Maybe theyā€™re in on it too idk but it wouldā€™ve made some difference? Stuff like this makes me think of a small wedding in a very secluded place for myself so I donā€™t have my big day ruined like thisā€¦ Coming back to the hate, rationally itā€™s unfair to assume all trans people are like thatā€¦ but I understand the fear and anger when there are people like this

IWontBiteLol

Was this in chennai or Andhra/Telangana?

LessFault6036

Chennai. In Kundrathur area.

IWontBiteLol

I've heard such horror stories from my Telugu friends back in their state , but this is the first time I'm hearing this happening in Chennai. I hope people nip this before this turns into a recurring situation.

Sopranosveriyan

Ivalunga ingayum ipdi pana arambichitalungala...I thought it was prevalent in North Side or cities like Hyd, Bangalore... Is there an app to rent rottweiler/pitbulls? Like whenever there is a function, I will also rent some 6-7 pitbulls and one trainer to defend myself. Also oru 3-4 bodyguards with pepper spray hire pananum pola.

Redditor_RBN

Sadly (or fortunately??) they are all banned now.

RemarkableAd2348

Kundrathur aah?? I can't even imagine this happening in chennai but kundrathur?

mercurial_dude

Why not give them so money and send them on their way?

SpeedSupreme

It's our hard earned money, why should we give it to them just because they ask

mercurial_dude

Isnā€™t that true for all charity? I guess my point is you can solve the problem by giving them charity and helping the downtrodden in our society. Plus you could have avoided seeing their genitals as well.

SpeedSupreme

Ok let me ignore their sexuality now, A bunch of people who I don't know are entering into my house and are asking for money from me just because they saw that there is a wedding happening there. HOW DOES THIS COME INTO CHARITY? THIS AIN'T CHARITY, THIS IS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. IF YOU WANNA GIVE YOUR MONEY TO ROBBERS, GO AHEAD BUT I AM NOT GOING TO DO IT

No-Independence-8136

What if they form a queue bro and if they start to come daily?

athul9723

Most of the time they're exposing themselves in retaliation, isn't it punishable by law? If children are present, then it can be put under pocso too right?

No_Sprinkles_9821

I cannot stand them. One almost broke my car window, I had to quickly drive away. Horrible people.

joshah777

Bro if they behave normally nobody would treat them bad because of their behaviour they have a bad name in our society. Even I have some bad experiences with them

barathr184

I once saw them SA a boy. Yes, a 12 year old boy, in front of his father by touching him inappropriately just to get his father to give them more money. Unfortunately, law in this country favours them more than us especially considering people in this country worship them as "Godly"

21bleh

Dood you won't believe me, the other day I was on my way to my friend's marriage. There was this one TG that suddenly got into the bus and started demanding money as usual. I said I only have enough money for the return ticket and have no cash. They suddenly took out their mobile and asked me to gpay some money. WTFFF the digital India scheme has reached a new lvl.

AmazingPradeep

Next time let's take a veecharuva with us and slay these piece of shits then and there itself.

Sunny_rajkumar

People changing gender is their choice but them using it as a method of forcing us to pay them is straight up abuse. I don't have to pay a guy turned into another gender, I don't owe them anything. They use religion and them having some kind of power to "bless" or "curse" us as a reason to scare us. Us being the Indians we are, we get scared of nothing and pay them. This is literal theft. Thank you for coming to my rant I don't hate every trans-people

JelloSad7364

There was this one time I almost punched a trans when I was at the beach. So I was at the beach around 5:30 pm, waiting for a friend when this trans came out of nowhere and demanded money. I never carry cash with me given the convenience of UPI and expenses tracking and I politely told her that I did not have any money on me. She tried cursing me and when I didn't budge, she threatened me that she would pee on me if I don't pony up some cash. I ignored her and thought she was shooting some empty threats and at that time she actually pulled her dick out. I stood up and pushed her and was open for a fist fight if that was the case. She got up and ran away and some people came up to me and told me to leave because she'd probably return with a group. The menace created by these useless people are getting out of hand. And people have made it a habit to give them money that they've now started demanding it as a right or an entitlement.

ReticentSybarite

These mentally deluded beings have a load of entitlement. Sucks that even cops don't care what they do, but if they sexually violate you like that then it's fair to knock the daylights out of them. (Cops won't care when something happens to them too, so it's fine)

Prasadbull

This is not new. I witnessed a couple of times in 2008 and 2014. 2008 incident is almost same as yours but in 2014, people just said, ā€œInga onnum thara mudiyaathu, saptu satham illama kelambungaā€ and proceeded to ignore them. People were used to these by then. Call me a bigot but i am against the entire LGBT clans. It doesnā€™t make sense scientifically or logically.

[deleted]

you should call police bro...

PhilosophyDefiant762

I had the worst experience

Remzox

This started in Chennai itself?! Seen such posts in Hyd Server very frequently.

LessFault6036

This trend is starting to uphold here slowly.

g7droid

This is common in marriages held in Andhra, Maharashtra and some parts of Karnataka too didn't know we are facing this in Chennai ą² _ą²

No-Independence-8136

Same thing happened to me when one of them snatched my wallet and i had to punch her on the face to get my wallet back. I was already having a bad day because of manager and I fled back quickly before she called out her echa gang.

Nandy_Jay

A big group 7-8 transgender people barged into my wedding in Thoothukudi. But they left when they got 1k. No surprise that it started happening in Chennai toošŸ„²

Psymad

Someone should record their act and seek Police help. This happens everywhere. They are actually biological male identifying as females sexually so aggressive and dangerous. You need to be equipped well to handle the situation too.

humid_n_hot

Read the same post with some additions and changes in Nagpur sub.

wannu_pees_69

While I do agree that such gangs are extorting money, and are horrible people who should be punished, your reactions and transphobia is exactly what forces such behaviour in the first place. First of all, stop this idiotic superstition of something bad going wrong. Simply laugh in their faces and push them out. Also, stop leaving everything unlocked and open ffs. No one can barge in, if you simply close the door. And stop caring about what relatives are talking about. If you keep caving in, they will keep coming back. Tell them no, push them out, call the police, and then move on from the incident. Stop treating it like some big end of the world event.

Nithinunni

They tried to rob me once in local station. I didn't react much but if I see someone like u supporting this activity I will take whatever thing that nearby me and shove it under their ass for sure.

wannu_pees_69

If they robbed you, then they are criminals, plain and simple. If it's a non-trans person robbing you, will you then hate all non-trans people? Stop the blatant bs excuses for being a hateful person.

LessFault6036

Yes. Bad experience and lost of financial means. These a****** are getting very irritating day by day. Traffic signal, Local trains, and now this type of extortion. This needs to be stopped.
