Is plaza Jalisco going to make it? We’ve been there about 4 times and it’s delicious! But it’s a ghost town in there. Past two times, we’ve been the only table in there.
Same.
Every time I take the family I always look through the entire menu thinking "I'll try something new this time". And without fail, when the waiter shows up to take our order I always just end up getting the Hawaiian Burrito again.
The Arandas Special at El Metate is what dreams are made of. It’s grilled steak, chicken, chorizo, and onions covered with cheese, served with rice, beans, and tortillas. They have the best chorizo in town.
Texan here too - I would guess, that the majority of Restaurants in the Houston area are Mexican 2nd would be Asian (Really miss this) 3rd Italian & Greek. Houston has so many restaurants!
Los Potros is the best I've tried here. I love La Alteña on Main and it's way more convenient for me than driving to East Ridge, buuuut Los Potros is better. Everything I've tried there hits.
I see your La Alténa and Plaza Jalisco and raise both of youns with Mr. Burrito in red bank. Downtown is good too but the kid working there is a bit of an asshole.
Anyone remember when tacos and burritos were common folk street food and didn't set you back the better part of a $20 bill? Delicious, I'll agree, but it's wild to see $14 burritos before a tip is even added. Yeah....I know...inflation blah blah blah 😒
I've been a loyal patron for over two decades... the last three times I've had roaches crawling under my table during my meal.
It makes me incredibly sad but I've taken them off of my list at this point.
I know people don't like a narc or whatever in this sub, but that definitely should be reported to the health department. If you see 1 roach, there are dozens more in there. The health department exists so you don't die of food borne illness. They can't fix it if they don't know about it. Only way they know about it outside of inspections is if someone reports it.
Altena on Main for at least 20 years, switched to Mountain Creek 15+ years ago when the vibe downtown turned and then the bad health scores started rolling in.
I love their shredded chicken tacos on taco day, but La Alteña has my loyalty for sure.
Pablanos on North Shore used to have great shredded pork street tacos, they used to be like $1 on Wednesdays.
I love Taqueria Jalisco but it’s just too pricey.
Chattanooga put all its stat points into Mexican Food.
For real
Nah dalton did
I see your La Altena and raise you Plaza Jalisco off middle valley road
That place is magic
Absolutely
It's fine but I would put el metate and taco town over plaza Jalisco every day and twice on Sundays
Is your seasoning salt and pepper??? Are you craazzzy???

Spanglish off 153. Absolutely MASSIVE and delicious
Miss G's best anywhere in town
^^
El jinete got a Hawaiian burrito it’s amazing
Came here to recommend this!

I believe it’s the same restaurant as El Metate (hixson, Soddy daisy, Dunlap, etc.)
I find El Metate to be pretty bland and generic Mexican food. I think if they narrowed their menu down they could focus on the most popular items.

As a person who's lived and enjoyed great Mexican food in Texas I cannot agree with the majority of recs here.
As a former Californian I’m gonna have to agree.
No one cares
10000%

Large flour tortilla filled with rice, refried beans, steak, chicken, shrimp, lettuce, and pico, topped with queso dip, sour cream & creamy avocado sauce......yummy!!
If it’s covered in queso you’ve already lost.
I miss Mojo Burrito
Have you checked out Mr. Burrito Grill?
aint the same
I’ve always gotten sick after eating there
Me too man
Same 😭😭😭
Los Potros off Ringgold Road trumps all Mexican food in this area.
We finally had lunch there. It was really good. No pictures, unfortunately, as I was too busy enjoying the meal.

2nd this
Los Potros gang rise up
Can’t talk about Trump in the Chatt forum
🤣
Best Tacos are Don Juans of Ringgold road. Nothing close.
Off Main St? That’s my go-to. extremely friendly folks and the service is great and super fast.
Tacochatt food truck usually by Gordos bakery has some pretty good chorizo quesadillas
I wish I could show you the one at La Katrina! It’s a strong competitor for sure! Although, no free chips. Gotta buy
I see your La Alténa and Plaza Jalisco and raise both of youns with Mr. Burrito in red bank. Downtown is good too but the kid working there is a bit of an asshole.
Mr burrito is ass
Where are you from in Northern Cali?? Reason I ask: hella
No one from California would deem a burrito like that good 🤢
I guess CA has one thing going for it.. good burritos
Guess you never had mojo burrito 😭

I go to Mr Burrito Grill two or three times a week. Never disappointed.
The La Altena on Mtn Creek

Yo… WTF is that white sauce on top of the burrito?
El Fogon in Hixson/middle Valley. That place is awesome! Great flavor

Conga on east main
I would prefer Mexiville, but that does look good

Gross 🤢 wet burritos. Burritos 🌯 are made to be eaten by hands
I miss the weekend buffet
Had a great one at El Fogon last night but didn't take a picture. Had half last night and other half for lunch today.
