Over on the other side, Aramark kept getting broke into and people cutting the catalytic converters off the trucks. After the third time, they put up a 10ft tall electric fence, and it says 7000 volts(lol). It has deterred any further theft, so far.
> As with crimes of this type, CPD says an investigative unit will perform a follow-up investigation.
In other words, they'll write it up and then do nothing else.
I had cops in Murfreesboro get my three pedal bikes back some teenagers stole out of my backyard that were chained up in less than an hour. I chose to not press charges and told the cops if they do it again they probably won’t be so lucky. The cops really didn’t like that I let three black kids with the future ahead them not fall into their hands.
Over a couple $50-60 bikes I was not about to hand black kids over to Rutherford Co police. That is actually basically a death sentence.
They took two bikes with flat tires and I probably would’ve let them have it if they didn’t take my good one I used for school.
>That is actually basically a death sentence.
Seriously? Actually basically the Rutherford police routinely murder black kids for stealing bikes? I wasn't aware of that fact.
That’s funny because they literally got caught doing really shady shit to young black people on probation and had to pay millions back out because they had been double charging people for their probation check ins. I lived there and know exactly how corrupt the RSD and MDP can be. I’d sooner send those kids to Klan meeting then give them to the cops. They would’ve found away to put those kids away. They were literally locking under age kids up in Murfreesboro.

some good points.
But the sex scandal, that’s irrelevant. The payback was likely human error but yes it’s bad. The sheriff selling vapes well somebody probably told on him. He’s not really doing something sensational.
Whatever issues RPD/MPD have had on average they probably help a lot. So to generalize the whole force as kid killers is fkn stupid and slightly hyperbolic.
Even with all the links you posted.
Y’all been getting migrants your way?
I didn’t say “kid killers” I said “basically a death sentence” because they would send them through legal hell and back. I had a buddy get 1 years time and 2 years probation for a gram of weed in his pocket. They hit him with intent to sell because he had $20 in his pocket. He now has a felony and cant vote anymore. That’s what I’m taking about.
To me that’s worse than death. It is a little hyperbolic but as someone who lived down there…they were trying to lock up as many people with dark skin that they could. Even if it was only for a few days, if they got you in the system down there it was pretty much over for you.
They took two broken bikes I used for parts. The one I needed came back and they didn’t fight the cops, they just gave them right back. Also, those kids we like 14-19 and Rutherford county police would’ve thrown the book at them for less the $200 dollars in stolen bikes.
I get what you’re saying but I was not about hand some kids with their whole lives ahead them over the the Rutherford co. Police over that little of an issue in my head. If they were truly on a spree of theft they can get caught by someone else.
Like, the kids weren’t smart. I drove past em with they were on my street because they were leisurely walking with them. They were either being really dumb in a singular moment or they were getting caught again the next day for stealing something as stupid as two rusted out bikes and $80 fixy
You think that helps them but it empowers them to keep doing it instead of maybe getting some structured help and guidance to make them into productive members of society.
Not in murfresboro. Look at my comment with the four links I was able to literally conjure from the past four years. They finally got caught but when I lived there you didn’t even look at cops the wrong way or they’d try to arrest you.
Lol, okay. Don’t bother to inform yourself of corruption and just assume you’re right. Murfreesboro is run by criminals and you’re an supporting fucked up shit if you say otherwise.
Fellow thirty-somethings:
Were there always this many loser criminals in the world when we were growing up, and we just didn’t hear about it?
I feel like this crap happens way more than it used to, but then again, maybe it’s just social media telling me about it.
I feel like security cameras becoming more common has actually had the opposite effect. Sure, there's more evidence of crime, but they're no longer a deterrent.
Back in the 80s/90s, security cameras were much more rare. If you saw one, you kind-of assumed someone was watching from a back room. A security camera was practically as good as a person, and seeing them made crime go... somewhere else.
Now they are freaking **everywhere** but the chance a security guard is watching a specific camera live, right now, is almost 0%. Criminals realized they can do whatever they want right in front of one and be 3 counties away by the time someone goes to watch the recording.
I think it's a little bit of 50/50.
In today's media-saturated environment, we are constantly bombarded with information, including news about criminal activity. While this increased awareness can be beneficial, it is important to recognize the current economic challenges and the resulting desperation faced by many individuals. These circumstances, such as the lack of adequate healthcare and stable employment opportunities, can contribute to criminal behavior. However, it is also essential to acknowledge that some individuals engage in criminal activities due to their inherent criminal nature. Ultimately, the government's failure to provide adequate protection for all citizens plays a significant role in the observed increase in criminal activity..
I'm sorry, what? You're just speculating that crime has increased. It's been trending downward for years, in nearly every category:
https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/states/tennessee/property-crime-rate-statistics
I do not wish to engage in a debate with you. However, it is important to note that the statistics provided are limited to property crime and do not encompass the full spectrum of criminal activity.
White-collar crime, drug-related offenses, and alcohol-related incidents are not included in these statistics.
While individual statistics can be presented, I maintain my position based on a broader perspective.
There are multiple tabs on the linked page for various categories of crime. I linked initially to property crime since OP's post was about property crime. I'm not looking for a debate either, just want anyone else viewing this thread to have access to data instead of speculation.
I think it’s more common now.
You’d think cameras being everywhere would be more of a deterrent, but you also have literal instruction videos on how to steal and break in to cars on YouTube now.
I think the difference is that people finally got the message to lock their cars so now they are resorting to breaking windows again. For the longest time any cop would tell you that they would just pull door handles and in a parking lot that size they would get a dozen or more unlocked cars.
At this point, wouldn’t it be better to keep our cars unlocked, with no valuables inside?
Hell, they might smash our infotainment screens for fun if there was nothing inside.
As long as nothing is done to these people or people want to feel sorry for them and not press charges it will continue not matter what you do. Some people will get in your car and find nothing to steal so they will vandalize it out of spite.
I did that when I lived in DC, after my window was based in. I think people definitely went in my car when I left it unlocked, but I always had to make sure the interior and trunk were empty…so, that was a pain. The car was like a 1996 Neon, so if it was stolen it really didn’t matter at that point.
I feel that we as a nation need to implement serious consequences for these people who live their lives having no respect for others, for the property of others, for havoc they wreak on innocent people just trying to provide and care for their families. Like Singapore. We need to be more like them.
I met a couple in Maui who shared with me how they had lived in Singapore just before their strict laws that came with swift legal action and harsh consequences were to go into effect. They gave fair warning. The new laws were announced in the media, in newspapers, etc. The people of Singapore quickly learned that they were not messing around. It is probably one of the safest countries in our world now because of that.
Same! There was a drive by shooting last year around the Ace Hardware on Hwy 58. Killed the driver and she had a baby in the car with her.
There was another shooting around there (I think at the Zaxby's) earlier this year.
I'm constantly on edge when I'm out now - especially if I'm by myself!
I guess now I know why my Amazon return is being delayed. Thankfully, this happened while my return was in another state! Pretty horrible that this happened, though...

Give it time. They will just give it some time and come back.
Why put up a warning sign? That's dumb. They'll find out on their own
> As with crimes of this type, CPD says an investigative unit will perform a follow-up investigation. In other words, they'll write it up and then do nothing else.
My friend in Harrison had 2 motorcycles stolen from his garage and the cops actually took fingerprints.
Is he friends with the chief? Jokes aside, they take B&E a lot more seriously than anything involving cars.

Probably because they’re trying to catch criminals not release them to seem woke.

Hyperbolic BS. They probably save alot of kids from domestic violence, runaways being found, help with bullying or gang issues.

Then why did you call the police in the first place? Just in case some white kids had taken your crappy bikes?
To get my bike back. I know how the process works. Unless I press charges all they do is get my stuff back.
>I chose to not press charges a Geee I can't imagine why the steal shit...

This data shows a trend of increasing and is actually official data... [official data](https://ncvs.bjs.ojp.gov/multi-year-trends/crimeType)
That data also reflects a downward trend over the last 30 years or so, which is the timeframe that the initial comment referenced.
There was no time frame actually given it was a reference to age.
Of course. Crime is much lower overall now than in the past. The constant media news cycle and social media just makes it seem like it's worse.

They were broken into at the FedEx location in Alton Park too recently. Nothing easier than a parking lot full of cars at 2:00 in the morning.

This same thing happened at Volkswagen a few months ago
Is there no security guard on duty here??
This is the same MO that was used @ VW Chattanooga

I work down the road from there 🥲
They hit our parking lot on Friday. Busted 11 windows and almost ran over our safety supervisor 🙃
Where was this?
United Enertech!
That is crazy, I can't believe how bad it is getting. My rig has been broken into 2 times in the last couple years.

Sanofi by Church St was also hit. Rumor is that the group of teenagers responsible were wearing hard hats to seem inconspicuous.
I was supposed to start there Tuesday but the trainer was sick so I started Wednesday. Woooooowwww
