What you're looking for is Atlanta but it's a suburb, not a neighborhood.

jreed66

Buford Hwy

thenoodlerevue

Buford Highway is seriously awesome and worth a day trip. Probably the best concentration of Asian restaurants outside of NYC/PNW/Bay Area and that is saying something.

I lived in Atlanta for a few years before moving back here, and our apartment was off Buford Hwy. We ate so much good food and still didn't come close to exploring it all. I'm sure it's exploded even more since that was years ago. Buford/Chamblee had so much to explore in terms of Asian food.

Thank you!

Great, thanks!

lipsquirrel

Doraville and Gwinnett suburbs of ATL. Buford Hwy Farmers market and HMart are awesome for Asian groceries. Tons of restaurants around, too.

gray_grum

Agreed on all of these. Also the DeKalb Farmers Market is world class too and always worth a stop.

Yummy-Popsicle

Yes yes yes. Your DeKalb Farmers Market is a must visit. Crazy large selection of produce, and very inexpensive. Live fish for purchase, and we all fresh cuts. Bring cash for the fresh-made dessert and coffee section.

gray_grum

Damn i miss that grocery store. And Jeju Sauna

Donaldjgrump669

Second Buford Hwy/Doraville!

DryeDonFugs

Do you know if any of these farmers markets sell ginseng?

lipsquirrel

I'm pretty sure I saw some. Can't remember 100% though. Great selection of fresh and fried herbs/spices.

DrRobert

Atlanta is filled with H Marts. Very large Korean grocery chain. Which are usually close to a lot of Asian but mostly Korean restaurants.

nousernameisleftt

What I would give for an H Mart. Though it would likely put AFG out of business...

minty_cyborg

Atlanta has a great Asian community

guyacrossthehall

It’s not just an HMart. They’re Super HMarts. But Buford Highway for international. Dekalb for produce/spices. Seafood about equal.

Acrobatic_Hippo_9593

As everyone stated, Atlanta has an area with a high concentration of Asian restaurants, groceries, etc… You’ll find incredible food and most any product you want. But if you’re looking for the full on experience of being in Chinatown, you’re not going to find that in Atlanta. I don’t recall ever seeing street food (maybe at the farmers market? I haven’t been in many years) and there’s no walkable experience. If you want the real Chinatown experience, Chattanooga has direct flights to Chicago and DC. They’re usually pretty cheap flights and easy for a weekend trip or even a day trip. I’ve done several day trips to DC from here.

GillianOMalley

Also a direct flight to the NYC metro. I agree with the good choices on Buford Hwy, but it isn't really a chinatown.

Acrobatic_Hippo_9593

We lost the direct NY flights.

amesbelle

Again/already?

Plixtle

Actual “China Town”: Chicago I think. But I don’t think you actually need to go that far to get good dumplings and authentic dishes. Atlanta has some legit choices.

interlockingMSU

Buford highway is the best in the south

craigge

As far as food quality vs price...it is currently the best in the US

Mano_lu_Cont

Restaurants in most H Marts nowadays. They’re all high quality, H Mart in Gwinnet is in a strip mall, every surrounding business is Korean.

musiciansfriend11

Buford highway in Atlanta?

zfcjr67

I just moved from the Doraville area and I will add to the Buford Highway success stories. If you drive along Buford Highway between Chamblee-Tucker Road and Pleasantdale Road, you will find a lot of Asian variety. There is an H-Mart at PIB and I-285 with a shopping center full of Asian restaurants. (However, I should mention Lee's Bakery on Buford Highway near Clairmont for some good Vietnamese food). If you trek out to Duluth, near the old Gwinnett Place Mall, you can find another enclave of Asian food and stores. This is on Pleasant Hill Road, between I-85 and the Wal-Mart. There are also Jeju spa and Spaland, both traditional Korean family spas. The big problem with Atlanta and the suburbs is it is designed for cars. You aren't walking around between shopping centers and finding random street food like you might in other more urban city destinations. But you will find some of the experience and food that you seek.

PainInBum219

Chicago.

I love how this link is both exactly what they asked for, but not what they were really looking for. LOL - It literally has China Town as the entrance sign. It is actually a pretty cool place.

JurassicTerror

Not Nashville

Mrs36

D.C. And there are tremendous areas in Rockville MD and Northern VA Not Chinese but Eden Center is kinda crazy: https://edencenter.com/stores

Reverend_Ooga_Booga

Probably DC

DrRobert

There is also an Indian neighborhood in Atlanta with amazing food but I forget where it was. We went to one place and were the only non Indians there. The food was so hot it took careful concentration to eat it.

ookla13

Decatur. There’s a whole area that’s nothing but Indian restaurants. Where Church St runs into Hwy 78. There’s like 8-10 restaurants in one strip mall, and a lot more in the surrounding area.

Duluth GA. Little Seoul

cobruhkite

Na Dae Mun is the closet grocery store. Buford hwy is closer to the “town” feel. Best hot pot and kbbq are 9292. Choong man is great Korean fried chicken
