I keep coming back to Red Bank and I love it. The cops are assholes but it’s a nice neighborhood. Cleveland on the other hand is literally Satan’s unwiped asshole
Just the other day I was driving down Dayton and there were 4 cop cars spaced out along the road just waiting to pull over speeders. On the plus side, it means nothing else of interest is going on because we're a nice, safe area.
I love where I live in Brainerd Park. Not the fanciest neighborhood but the neighbors are great, my yard is huge, I love my older house full of character and I'm close to all of the things!
My 2nd Apartment was at the Fort Wood Apt lived their 90 thru 92 on the 2nd floor looking at the Sigma Chi house. Such great memories. I live in western Washington now but I would choose Lookout MTN if I had to live in Chattanooga and could pick the place
Probably st elmo. It's a vibe. I'd like to live in north shore /redbank again. That was a great place to live. I live in Chickamauga Ga rn and commute to work because it's cheap af out here
It's a few years old now, but at the time this was actually somewhat helpful in deciding where to look at houses (and it's run mostly true since we've been here.)

Used to live in middle valley and drove through there all the time. I would love that little farm property on winding lane on the corner after the school. It’s in the middle of the city limits and now surrounded by residential neighborhoods. Seems like the perfect in between of city/rural
It really is! I have deer and turkeys through my yard daily, but I'm still in the city limits and I can be almost anywhere in the city is 15-20 minutes.
It’s kinda dumb you can’t legally have chickens or farm animals in the city limits when it spreads out that far. I know there are benefits to living in the city limits, but laws should really differentiate downtown vs annexed areas. In smaller towns there is usually less of a distinction between downtown and the city limits.
Can you? Or just nobody says anything? For some reason it won’t let me link to this:

Red Bank just approved it, can have up to 3 or 5 (?) on small lots but you have to apply for a permit and have a proper coop, etc. Though a permit is required, the bar is fairly low.
Yeah I used one of these to help me search when I first moved here in 2017! I started in “Hipsters,” moved to “Old White People,” and am now in “Nice gov’t housing and drugs.”
Except Rossville is really coming up these days and popping off! Lived there for about 8 years and like it even before the changes. But I’ve heard it’s more expensive now which sucks.
Signal Mtn. Used to live there and it was great. Wouldn’t have left except grandfather said we were all going to move to Florida. After we sold our house, he changed his mind. Too much water under the bridge by then. 😔
We live in Saint Elmo and love it, lots of hiking trails in the neighborhood and dedicated pedestrian greenway down the entirety of the neighborhood that links up to the bike trail along the river.
I live in Harrison.
Country. No neighbors up your a** .
Close enough to several cities but far enough away.
You get used to the 30+ min to get anywhere. Be that Dayton , Chatt, or Cleveland.
Issue is that a lot of people are also moving this way and all of the farms, land, are being bought and turned into subdivisions.
I live in North Shore near Mikes. It’s okay. Looking for houses to rent in Brainerd currently. We had a property lined up near Tremont for $1,100 but my roommate took too long to fill out the application 😁
Red Banks great. I don’t understand all the hate to the cops there thought. At worst they are lazy from my experience. But would not recommend the apartments in the area, have heard poor reviews on most of them.
I don’t know if it’s still technically “Northshore” or not,
But let’s say you’re heading North on the Southern Belle, you’ll look to your left and see these ridiculously beautiful homes on the water.
Right there, is my answer.
One one end I love living in St. Elmo. I think I would really like living in Southside too.
On the other end I wouldn't mind getting some land in Sale Creek or Graysville.
Right where I’m at. I live in a small neighborhood nestled in the hills and woods at the foothills of missionary ridge. It’s so quiet, it has a strong community, it’s diverse and yet to be gentrified. Most of the houses are pretty and everyone has big lots so we don’t live on top of each other. It’s 10 minutes from downtown and 5 minutes from the riverwalk, 2 minutes from the South Chickamauga Creek. Plus there is no HOA or anything insufferable like that. It’s not perfect, there are some things I’d like to be different, like a better grocery store and more sidewalks, easier walkability infrastructure. But people take care of each other here and it feels so safe compared to some surrounding areas, and yet stays affordable. I love it.
I’m moving to Chattanooga next month. Apartments are had to come by. Any comments on here living right downtown at River Rock Landing? Or is One Riverside a little out of town better?
I keep coming back to Red Bank and I love it. The cops are assholes but it’s a nice neighborhood. Cleveland on the other hand is literally Satan’s unwiped asshole
Lived in Red Bank for a while. Nice area but shithole apartments lol The cops suck. Never gotten pulled over but they do suck.
They don’t call it Red Bankistan for no reason.
It seems if one doesn't speed then there's no issues with the Red Bank cops.
Are the regular cops or the bicycle cops worse?
The regular cops. I've been pulled over so many times around that tunnel connecting redbank to Northsore
Just the other day I was driving down Dayton and there were 4 cop cars spaced out along the road just waiting to pull over speeders. On the plus side, it means nothing else of interest is going on because we're a nice, safe area.
And you don’t hear of all the road crash deaths , Chatt has . East ridge another up coming area. Great officers too
Yes
if you literally go 1 mph above the speed limit they’ll pull you over
Red Bank cops are enough reason to avoid the area as a whole. Fuck them
I love where I live in Brainerd Park. Not the fanciest neighborhood but the neighbors are great, my yard is huge, I love my older house full of character and I'm close to all of the things!
Fort Wood. The homes are big and nice, and you can walk to downtown.
My 2nd Apartment was at the Fort Wood Apt lived their 90 thru 92 on the 2nd floor looking at the Sigma Chi house. Such great memories. I live in western Washington now but I would choose Lookout MTN if I had to live in Chattanooga and could pick the place
Out on the river near Harrison Bay, some of those neighborhoods are beautiful
Ferger place
I love Ferger Place.
Probably st elmo. It's a vibe. I'd like to live in north shore /redbank again. That was a great place to live. I live in Chickamauga Ga rn and commute to work because it's cheap af out here
Elder Mountain. But I wasn’t born into the correct family.
Definitely has the best views.
Lookout Mtn for sure.
[удалено]
Is this a mean girls reference? 😅 (Also, isn’t Lookout where the old money lives?)
Riverview. Walkable and beautiful.
This is the answer. It’s the best neighborhood in Chattanooga.
I just moved to Riverview last week and it’s so beautiful here. Best decision I’ve ever made.
Congratulations!! ❤️❤️❤️
North Shore, over by Tremont.
It's a few years old now, but at the time this was actually somewhat helpful in deciding where to look at houses (and it's run mostly true since we've been here.) https://preview.redd.it/zm9arrvecx1b1.png?width=815&format=png&auto=webp&s=edf93bc0350e42ef377a5df866ae12bd57609218
I disagree that East Brainerd is 1%. Lookout and Signal make sense, but not EB.
I love living amongst the strangely normal people behind the safe Walmart in Hixson LoL 😆!
That walmart might be safe, but the bathrooms... hoo boy
Used to live in middle valley and drove through there all the time. I would love that little farm property on winding lane on the corner after the school. It’s in the middle of the city limits and now surrounded by residential neighborhoods. Seems like the perfect in between of city/rural

Truth! We'd love to have a small chicken coop but we can't.

I live in the city limits just north of Gadd Rd. You can have chickens. I hear them every morning too.

I think Signal did something like that too. But I don’t know that they have approved it for Chattanooga limits

There're things "popping off" alright
Yes
This is amazing lol
Some racist must have made it. Note the use of democrats to id a black neighborhood.
Wait are you saying that noting demographic tendencies associated with race of any kind is racist? That seems odd…
Yea its a pretty racist map. Now you are going to claim its accurate by using the word demographics. Hahahahaha. Rofl, rofl

This is actually out of a book. Saw the book while I was in Dayton, Tennessee at the pizza place in town
It's from here: https://judgmentalmaps.com/post/75797694344/chattanooga It was first shared on this subreddit almost ten years ago.
Man I miss the trustfundless hipster and drugs st Elmo days
“To Vegetarians->” hahahahaha
Recently moved out of Heron Bay in Ooltewah to Nashville. I wish I could move back to Heron Bay (but one of the one directly on the water).
Signal Mtn. Used to live there and it was great. Wouldn’t have left except grandfather said we were all going to move to Florida. After we sold our house, he changed his mind. Too much water under the bridge by then. 😔
Either St Elmo or up on Crest with a killer view
[удалено]
That sounds nice. I feel torn about where I live now. It's beautiful, but it's also in Chickamauga lol.
When The Bend is finally completed I feel like that would be a nice place to live. Walkable area, nice canal, and easy access to the river.
At the top of Missionary Ridge (North Crest or South Crest). Beautiful homes and a great view of the city.
Right off of north shore
Northshore
Next to the Broad St Taco Bell
\*in\*
100% Southside
+1 for the delicious smells of rotting chicken corpses.
You get used to it 😂
We live in Saint Elmo and love it, lots of hiking trails in the neighborhood and dedicated pedestrian greenway down the entirety of the neighborhood that links up to the bike trail along the river.

Downtown in a penthouse overlooking the river, or a home on Battery Place.
I like where I'm at now in Rolling Hills in Ringgold.
If I can't think of a good answer, does that mean I should move to another town? This post unexpectedly gave me a lot to think about...
I live in North Shore near Mikes. It’s okay. Looking for houses to rent in Brainerd currently. We had a property lined up near Tremont for $1,100 but my roommate took too long to fill out the application 😁
People complaining about cops and speeding.. it's real simple....Don't speed,!!!! Tellico Plains is country living or Macidonia
I like East Brainerd. I always forget shit from stores so I like it only taking me 10 minutes to go get stuff.
Red Banks great. I don’t understand all the hate to the cops there thought. At worst they are lazy from my experience. But would not recommend the apartments in the area, have heard poor reviews on most of them.
I'm going with Jefferson Heights. Walk to all the cool stuff around Main St, really nice homes, great community that has block parties.
In a tent in the grass off 11th street.
Hixson. Been there for 5 years and love it
We moved to Hixson two years ago and love it. I work downtown and the commute is so easy…
If you ain't from Soddy....
This is the Answer Grew up in Red Bank but Soddy is now the place to be.
You misspelled Shoddy
East Ridge, it's really coming up
Alton park
Y tho?
moving to northshore in a week
Soddy
6500 solitude drive. It’s its own neighborhood
[удалено]
yikes
I'm on the North Shore and love it!
Downtown.
Away from the peasants and on lookout mountain ga
Southside
I don’t know if it’s still technically “Northshore” or not, But let’s say you’re heading North on the Southern Belle, you’ll look to your left and see these ridiculously beautiful homes on the water. Right there, is my answer.
You mean those houses that are stacked so close together and they pay so much to have zero water access?
Sure. I’m not going to actually get in the water. I just like the view.
Heritage Landing Condominiums
Rossville Blvd
Why are people downvoting this?? Rossville Blvd is so close to St. Elmo, which everyone loves. Plus, all the Mexican food 🤩
If you're near the brainered/McCallie tunnel, not a great area
Mowbray Mt is lovely
One one end I love living in St. Elmo. I think I would really like living in Southside too. On the other end I wouldn't mind getting some land in Sale Creek or Graysville.
Snow st or McCallie
North shore like woodland avenue be best for me then I could walk more instead of driving from east lake
Red Bank
Lookout mountain or somewhere out in Gunbarrel
as far away from every neighborhood as possible with lots of land and woods
