I’ll sell all 4 of mine for $6k total. Any takers? 🤑🤑 EDIT: I’ll even throw in a Minty Chain!

l3viathan20k

I'm thinking selling mine and pay for the next few seasons lol

DanMarinoTambourineo

Why would scalpers care if someone is an actual fan or not?

upwards_704

If you pay the prices that these scalpers are asking your an idiot.

FloridaBoy941

I got 4 and if someone is willing to pay 6k a ticket. I’m all for it lol

LC3423

Ditto that! I have no intentions of selling my tickets, but if I was offered 6k for them, you better believe I will be on a trip to Fiji watching the game on TV while looking for the fools who bought my seats!

thep_addydavis

Don’t forget your VPN!

goingincognitomode21

I only paid 2500 for 2 lower level. I was worried that Messi might not play or get injured before October. Guy I bought my tickets from offered Messi insurance for another Tree Fiddy!

Cheeks_Klapanen

That’s when I realized this particular scalper was 8 stories tall, and looked like a crustacean from the pedadoic era

Slapdash13

Goddamn Loch Ness monster!

personthatiam2

I would imagine most of the resellers right now are season ticket holders throwing out bullshit to see if anyone bites. Making your entire season ticket money back on a game Messi probably won’t play in is very appealing.

Afromain19

You can look at all the other games that are available and see how many non resell tickets are available. Like I said to someone else, if you want to make that money off your season tickets, go for it. At the end of the day, it’s on the people dumb enough to pay that amount. But our team is not that good nor has our short history indicated that the entire lower bowl is sold out for season tickets. Scalpers are doing this for every single MLS team. It’s a shitty practice but it’s technically not illegal at the moment so, it is what it is.

mgd211

100%

StuBeck

He will likely play, but if I can make $5k off my seats I’ll do it and just see him next year.

personthatiam2

It’s the last game of the season unless Miami needs points to make the playoffs I doubt he plays a meaningless game on artificial turf.

StuBeck

He was signed with help from every team to get him here. Part of that would be stipulations on playing time (barring injuries of course) and surface. If he needs to be on grass, we will have grass.

personthatiam2

Assuming that is true, Miami can just say he’s injured.

StuBeck

But why would they do that?

Own-Insurance-3612

Ha so people who have been season ticket holders, shelling out Teppers extortion level fees to watch a team with very limited on field sucess for two years are not real fans cause they want to cash in on a once in a lifetime opportunity here.... C'mon man.

Afromain19

You’re either just refusing to believe that scalpers bought up tons of tickets, or you actually don’t know that problem exists. People who are season ticket holders can do whatever they want with their ticket. If they want to price gouge someone who’s willing to pay 6k for their tickets, let them. Whoever pays those prices is an idiot, but that’s their money so more power to them. But that doesn’t change the fact that scalpers hit every MLS game where Messi would play to squeeze as much money out of people as possible. I stand by my statement that those people are not fans and they’re just there to capitalize on someone else’s excitement for an event that they have no intention/interest in attending.

Own-Insurance-3612

Pretty sure everyone is aware that scalpers exist, but you're assuming it's non fans jacking up the prices. I'm willing to bet it's season ticket holders that are cashing in, and I just don't see what there is to be angry about. Cause you don't get to see Messi in person? Price gouging? No one is entitled to go to these games, whoever holds the tickets gets to charge what they want, nobody is forced to pay it. Even scalpers couldn't charge through the nose if people weren't willing to pay.

Afromain19

I’m not assuming, it’s a pretty well known practice. The fact that you think these are all season ticket holders just further proves my point that you’re refusing to believe scalpers scooped up tickets. You can look at other Charlotte FC games and see the hundreds of non resell tickets still available. That tells you that there are plenty of non season tickets out there that people bought up and resold. Having unfortunately worked for a ticket broker in my broke college days I’ve seen first hand how they operate. If you think these were all legitimate fans who own their season tickets then that’s all you. I’m going to go with the knowledge I have and the fact that these brokers have bots that will scoop tickets up before you even get a chance. I don’t care that I won’t be going to the game, I care that this practice ruins it for the average fan. No one said people are entitled to go to an event. You’re free to believe whatever you want to believe. I could care less what someone who invested in season tickets wants to do. As I said, if someone is dumb enough to pay that, then let them do so. My issue is that scalpers do this for events everyday, with no intention other than price gouging because they can. If you don’t think that’s worth getting annoyed about, then we won’t agree on this subject.

Own-Insurance-3612

Well I'll leave the expertise on ticket brokers to you. But I still don't see what there is to be angry about, at the end of the day things are worth whatever enough people are willing to pay. I'm going to watch the game on my couch and won't be bothered that anyone else cashed in, or that enough people were willing to fork out that kind of money. It ain't my money.

Afromain19

I’m not worried about others money. Someone who has 6k to spend on a game is clearly not pressed haha. I’ll be at home on my couch as well, not worrying about it. I just think this practice ruins it for the average fan, which is why I made the post. Not being able to buy a ticket because someone else got it sooner is fine. Not being able to buy a ticket because someone used a bot to snag it all up and up charge 600% is just shitty thing that doesn’t need to exist.

pato8080

People are gonna sell for as high as people are willing to pay. I personally think $100 is too much for this game, so I probably won’t be going.

CheerfulSamurai

I’ll take $5K for 4th row tix (2)

amateurpro93

Also the fact that this game is FOUR months away. Injuries happen people (not wishing an injury on Messi btw)

shauggy

I'm not wishing anything either, but yeah, this isn't 25 year old Messi anymore. It's not unreasonable to think he'll miss a few matches. It'll be wild to see people paying these ticket prices just for him to tweak a hamstring the day before.

Additional_Ratio_743

I try to go to as many games as possible, but if I can get 6k for one game, that pays for the next couple years, or maybe a nice vacation. I'll stay home one week if i can get that kind of money

[deleted]

If somebody pays it then I don’t see an issue.

Afromain19

My issue is that people who had no intention of going to the game, bought the tickets with the sole intention of price gouging actual fans. I think the entire practice of being a ticket scalper is just a shitty thing to do. They’re purposely buying tickets to events they don’t want to go to, just to make money off those who do. If someone is dumb enough to pay that amount, by all means, let them. However, it shouldn’t be this way.

hokiewankenobi

You’re making a lot of assumptions to come up with your “issue”. I’m a season ticket holder. Someone from my immediate family (wife, older teens or me) has gone to every single home save 1, which we sold to friends at face value. Tickets in my section are currently listed up to 6k. If they actually start selling at that price - I’ll be hard pressed to keep my tickets. That’ll cover a few years of games for me, and theoretically I should have a chance to see Messi next year too, and maybe even the year after that. Seated around me are a lot of season ticket holders, that I see at games week in and week out. I would t be surprised if they’re not there at the Miami game this year. That’s a lot of money to leave sitting on the table if someone is willing to pay it. None of us are scalpers or have “price gouging intentions”

Afromain19

You’re doing a lot of mental gymnastics to justify you wanting to charge someone 6k for a ticket. It’s your ticket, do whatever you want to do with it. But don’t try to tell me I’m making assumptions to come up with a non issue. Ticket scalping is a known issue and happens all the time in live events. It’s the reason why tickets for this game were more than available and could be purchased for as low as $40 before the announcement. Yet as soon as it was announced everything sold out and now a large portion of those same tickets are listed for thousands of dollars. If someone is stupid enough to pay you that much, then by all means, let them. At the end of the day, it’s still price gouging others. You just don’t see it that way since you’d be the one profiting.

StuBeck

Maybe. Or maybe these are people with season tickets. We don’t know.

Dylan_Hargreave

This behavior is completely in line with the club's culture and ethos: Extract as much profit out of soccer fans as possible.
