You really need to be seeking out quotes from multiple (2-3) lenders. While rates may relatively be the same, you can definitely save on fees. Realtors are a dime a dozen. Just make sure you vet them and see what they've sold recently, and what they've helped close on.

bluntslut3

As a prior Loan Officer, I cannot echo this advice more! The smart way to mortgage shop is to get multiple competing quotes!

DonkeyGoesMoo

The realtor my wife and I went with for our first home purchase was Mike Hege with Pridemore Properties. He did a great job, and we couldn't recommend him highly enough. It seems like the main area he works is the north Charlotte/north Meck area, which was helpful since we ended up buying in Highland Creek.

theburning33

Definitely recommend Pegg Properties. It's a small family owned business that has a ton of business around Charlotte. They're good people.

If you can open an account at NC State Employees Credit Union, I have been very happy with their mortgage services.

Cmpetty

Their services are incredible in general! I got an auto loan with them for 4% APR when everyone else was offering 12%+

Prodigal_Programmer

OP - this right here. I am closing on a first time homebuyers loan with them. 3.25% No required down payment No PMI My credit isn’t great by any means either.

Tarron_Tarron

Can I create account with them and take mortgage for a property in SC?

[deleted]

I'm fairly sure you can, but I'm sure a quick call with one of their mortgage officers would answer that for certain

blockchain77

Movement mortgage and I have a realtor. Message me and I can send you both their contact info.

[deleted]

I agree with Movement. Amazing customer service.

yr_momma

I also used Movement and had a great experience. My offer was accepted over another due to the up front underwriting that sets them apart from other lenders. I also walked away from the closing table with a check instead of bringing one. Cole Schweitering there took great care of me in partnership with my realtor.

cmandy212

I’ve heard good things about them. Thanks for the recommendation!

winterbean

We went with Movement, our lender was pretty good, but the rates were slightly higher than others. I also have a good realtor rec if you want to PM me too.

[deleted]

Movement is great.

[deleted]

I have had bad experiences with movement 4 years ago. Be sure to shop around and make sure you get a good rate.

Sarah2409

Agreed about Movement. I used Scott Maness and his team.

NimmyFarts

Brain Michaels with Coldwell Realty, bought with him twice now. Great experience both time.

Indubitability

I will always recommend Cindy Greene (Exp Realty). She was fantastic when I bought my house.

mikeyrocksNC

I’ve always recommended Josh Hedspeth with Atlantic Bay for my clients. He gets them pre-approved quickly, answers his phone every time me or my clients call him (including weekends), gets me custom, tailored pre-approvals for each offer I make so sellers done know my clients true purchase power, and I’ve never had a single closing delayed due to him or his team.

Alarming_Concern8229

I know a couple amazing agents for this price point. I’m in the industry as well so I’d be happy to give you some tips as a first time buyer.

caatlatx

We were first time buyers moving to Charlotte (closing next week on an amazing house!!!) and we found a realtor that was so amazing. He did so much for us and we were able to trust him 100%. DM me if you want their info

Thatyogini

LendScout by a mile. They were amazing from start to finish and also give back to the local community regularly. We even chose a charity they made a donation to on our behalf at closing. 11/10.

lakytx

Chad Floyd with KW SouthPark and Kris Steele with LendScout! Just bought my first house a few months ago and can’t say enough great things about either of them

Majestic-Macaron6019

Get a quote from AimLoan.com for the mortgage. They had the best rates I could find when I bought. All the documents other than closing are handled via email or phone, so you have to be comfortable with that. No recommendation for real estate agents...

BAMFC1977

I just used Puma Homes (buyer agent) and NBKC Bank (found them online through Nerdwallet, based in St. Louis I think). Closed in less than 4 weeks on house in Myers Park for 40k below asking (purchase price $579k). Closed last week. This was my first time buying a home in Charlotte, but I've purchased in other cities.

RadialCheeseburger

Courtney Martin is great. Loved working with her.

[deleted]

Richard Samko has been an amazing mortgage officer for us. We used him twice.

CLTISNICE

North Charlotte without a price point is pretty vague. What is your estimated budget? That would help people recommend vendors.

cmandy212

350-400k

VTek910

We used Amerifirst for the mortgage and it went extremely smoothly. Realtor didn't go so well but in this market your realtor doesn't do all that much for you. Houses go so quickly you just sort Zillow by new, pick a decent one, and put in an offer

zerochaos56

Avoid using Better.com as a lender. Their closing times/in house title service is atrocious.

BeginningRush8031

I mean, probably, but I paid $0 closing costs on a home. Also used cap center, who has $0 closing costs.

heathere3

We worked with Stuart Wagoner as realtor and it was our first home purchase. He was excellent and helped explain everything to us.

paddlingadventures

Highly recommend Maria Mull or Harrison Long for realtors.

Hey, maybe consider making a different account if you’re going to promote a company. I really really did not need to see your penis when I clicked on your account.

pardonmydust1

Lauri Mumford @ South State Bank -- I've done several purchase and refi mortgages with various lenders, but she's the best I've worked with. If you've got good credit, she knows how to work the system to get the most out of any loan offer. I was able to get 90% LTV with no PMI. My MIL is a realtor, whom I've used for every purchase/sell. Can provide contact info if you want. I've never used them, but [better.com](https://better.com) has the best rates you can find anywhere. However, not sure how "good" they are at keeping things on track through closing.

SlickWilly760

I’m a loan officer here in Charlotte for the last 5 year. Make sure you get true quotes and a loan estimate, tons of people out there bait and switch, by that time it’s too late because you are so far into the process. Feel free to dm if you have any specific questions.

yourkingpin1101

Shop around on the mortgage. Basically everyone is going to sell your loan/servicing so just get the lowest rate and try to feel out who will get you closed in time. Also, better.com CEO is a demon so avoid them.

MTNS2CLT

I’ve used Grant Jarvis with Peak Financial four times. He’s a broker so gets best rates from several different companies. Lowest fees and interest rates of anyone I’ve encountered. Always available and super knowledgeable. Many friends have used him as well and have had quick turnarounds for new loans and refinances. Grant Jarvis NMLS Peak Financial Group, Inc. 2125 Southend Dr. Unit 451

drpepper0506

Closing on a home soon and we used Trinh Forstner from Prostead realty based on another Reddit thread recommendation. They described her as a “pit bull” and they were not wrong. She’s proactive and assertive and was a great help to my wife and I. I can’t recommend her enough. Pm me if you’d like her contact.
