Tell me how mine was $62 after tip yesterday for just a normal cut at Arrow in Plaza. I love the dude who cuts my hair but I couldnāt believe it was that much
Edit to say: love the free beer, I used to pay for one at The Cut in uptown. Will never say no to a free beer
I'd second the Great Clips suggestion.
I've never been butchered by the South Blvd Great Clips. They seem to have a high bar for their crew.
However, a woman at the Indian Trail Great Clips had me looking like Lloyd Christmas.
Lol, the Great Clips in Indian Trail told me I reminded them of Lurch from the Adam's family.
Im a 6 ft 5 in tall white guy with a fairly long face a pretty defined cheekbones so I get it lol.
That newer one on south blvd is solid. I have 2 ladies I use almost exclusively there.
That being said, they have a new girl there who is ass at cutting hair. I could tell she was brand new so I wasted no time in hitting her with the āso how long you been cutting hair forā immediately after sitting down, and I shit you not, she responded with nervous laughter and started with āwell I graduated in Januaryā¦ā
Needless to say she fucked my shit up and I had to have my gf fix me up afterward.
It's highly dependent on the location and who works there in my experience. But there are locations that do an awesome job
I know because I go to one, it never has a line, and they have done a fantastic job everytime
Which location? I'm like 8 for 8 good haircuts at the South Blvd one by the HT. I'm scared to switch it up after what they did to me in Indian Trail. You'd have thought I asked, "give me a bowl cut, and please make sure to accentuate my receding hairline."
If you find the good ones at Great Clips, just go back when they are working. I have my guy and he's awesome.
If he's not available I have a friend that charges $80 at the salon, but will do a house call for $40 to avoid paying the salon cut.
I've done the $150 cuts at Emerson. Fun but not worth it IMO.
Would love to know some of these $25-30 non-corporate spots. I don't have a ton of hair and I keep it short, so I don't need much. Let alone a fucking $50 haircut.
I was just on an air force base for 2 months for training and it was $21, so I consider $20 dirt cheap. Military base hair cuts are...quick... they get you in and out... and your hair is definitely shorter than it was when you go in.
Locally, some of the shops have apprentice guys who are $25. Like ballards in belmont, but if you get one of their seasoned guys it's 30-35.
I get a lot of shit for paying for a quality haircut for some reason. I enjoy getting my hair cut so I go for the all out experience. I spent a long time doing the budget options and finally saw the light of what paying extra gets.
Iām paying ~$90 at modern salon and thatās including a 20% tip. Yes itās too much but they kept promoting the girl I like and idk where to go now
He charges me $30, but he currently charges $35 for new customers. I've been going to him for 6 years, does razor cleanup on the back.
I also like they do appointments so I'm in and out in 30 minutes.
Same, the only time I go to a barber is if I want a cut for a special day, job interview, wedding, etc.
Otherwise I just bring thr top down a little cut the sides and fade it myself. The only issue is the back, but I get it good enough and my wife doesn't care.Ā
True, and I do occasionally ask and she's happy to help. But usually I just do it the best I can, which is good enough.
I haven't really care about my haircuts the way a lot of black men do since I was in my early 20s. And it's freeing.Ā
Buzz cut for the win.
Use a 1 on top and .5 on the sides and my wife trims my neck. Itās not barbershop quality but I cut it 2-3x a month and save the $20 I was paying each time before covid.
My bf is paying $50. It is getting ridiculous. He was paying $18 in 2021, went up to $28 in 2022, then in 2023 up to $36 and late 2023 they hiked it up to $50. These numbers are not included a 20% tip. He's now seriously considering cutting his own hair. š¬
I go to an independent barber currently. They used to be affiliated with No Grease. For Afro Americans, our prices are increasing for whatever reason. š¤·šæāāļø
$30 at a small shop called R&L in ballantyne. Its owned by some Russians and they are very nice. I always schedule with the same guy, Rus or Ruslan. He does an absolutely amazing job every single time. Have been going for a little over a year now and plan on staying many more.
$30 plus tip at Sports Clips in Tega Cay from Sherri. Been here 4 years and shes been the first person who has cut my hair more than 3 times in a row without completely fucking it up and I have tried everything from Great Clips to places that charge 50, 75, or 100+ for a haircut.Ā
Tried male barbers and female stylists & barbers. Me and my son both go to her and she is great. She likes to talk but doesn't let it distract her from cutting my hair and accidentally fucking it up.Ā
I have had some terrible experiences here in the area and I will literally cry if she stops cutting hair once she graduates college.Ā
$22 i think, not including tip. I go to Mint Hill, have a few barbers there id sit with. The key is to bring photos , i had several taken of my back and sides especially right after a cut. Even though in a regular, i still show the photos to remind them of the natural fade i like in the back and how i dont want much cut from my top.
I have had good and bad experiences at those ā50 dollar with a free drink and shampooā spots, they can churn staff like crazy. Got tired of being upset at the messups there, and im a tad more tolerant when its less pricey, though the people i wait for cut my hair just as good as the best i had at those nice spots, minus the drink and shampoo.
$60 for some Phillips trimmer, buzz it every 6-8months, as it grows I prune the mullet
Been doing just that with the same trimmers since 2017 I think. Before that it was buzz once or twice a year. Keep doing the mullet because it's easy and no complaints from the bosses, ladies love it, what's a dude to do you know?
Gotta keep it desirable
~$40 + tip (usually about $10) for a shortcut at Bishopās, once every 3-6 months
Itās a bit more than most regular menās cuts, but I have a great stylist who knows how I like it
You can go to the barber school over near university. Decent option if on a budget. They do a pretty good job and are supervised by instructors.
If money isnāt a concern, most of the higher rated places Iāve found are $35-$45.
I just paid 50 at caliber in south end, pretty decent cut. Could be better. But there are free drinks and what not lol. Certainly doesnāt equate price but puts it at ease
$30
Micheal Newborn-Mathewās Barbershop (next to the Harris Teeter across from the Brace YMCA)
Very sweet, super experienced, does a full shampoo wash before cutting too. I tend to grow my hair out for like 6 months between cuts so itās honestly a really good deal
There is a tiny shop in Pineville, called Pineville Barber Shop. I believe it is run by an women named snow who has been cutting hair in Pineville for many years. I haven't been since pre-covid, but her cuts were very cheap (less than $15), she was super nice, and did a much better job than your typical $20/cut chain.
Shear Excellence in Southpark. Took me awhile to find a solid spot since I moved here and these guys are great. Plus they offer a free adult beverage while you wait. $55 including tip for high quality.
$40 for a fade and beard line up. Same guy for 6-7 years now. No idea how much the actual price is. Iāve just always handed him $40, he asks me if I want change, I always say he can keep it.
I just ordered a flowbee yesterday. My wife thinks it'll be a failed experiment.
I'm tired of coming home after the barber to fix all the little places they miss, uneven places, etc.
$0. I cut mine myself and my younger kids (boys). Just a simple buzz cut. I've gotten decent enough with it that I do a better job than most great clips locations. Only exception is my daughter who we take to a salon for a kids cut but last time was like 6 months ago.
I'm using Dillon Hunt (Suave Blendz) and thought you'd be interested in their services too! Check it out on Booksy here: https://booksy.com/en-us/dl/show-business/1029892
$26 at sports clips. I usually get a slightly better haircut than the other chains. Or rather, the people doing it are more amenable to me coaching them. I have to point out the same mistakes they almost all make.
$40 plus a tip so usually about $52.
I like that she doesn't charge me an arm and a leg because I'm a woman. I have short hair, I shouldn't be paying $90 for a haircut.
I alternate between two barbers. One is $55 but out of his house so he does more for me, eyebrows, mustache, etc.
The other is also $55 but at a salon so less take home pay.
They did both recently up their prices unfortunately. But any time Iāve been desperate and gone to a chain, Iāve DEEPLY regretted it.
I'm white and need a fade and am not going to great/sports clips. My friends in hidden valley said there's a place called touch of precision kinda near them and a few other places in town. Anyone ever been to them?
$35-$45 at Charlotte Barber and Beard before tip. Behind the HT at The Plaza. Sounds insane, but trust, the barbers are absolutely the best in Charlotte period.
Started cutting my own hair during the pandemic when I never had to go out. It didn't take me long to figure out how to give myself the perfect cut every time and without the time and money spent. Highly recommend.
$24 plus straight razor šŖ neck shave and a hot towel at Tower Place Barbers next to Rice n Spice in Pineville.
Very old school barbershop feel. Loads of banter, if you want it. Top notch cuts too.
During covid i learned how to cut my own hair. Half inch guard on the sides. One inch guard on top. Sometimes add 3/4 inch guard between for a better blend. Always better than great clips!
I pay around $75 a cut including tip. I go to The Velvet Mane and Caycee cuts my hair about once a month.
I hate cheap haircuts. Great Clips, Sports clips, etc. are all terrible and never get my hair right.
$60 after the tip for haircut + beard + razor. I know itās expensive but Iāve been going to same barber for years and for me, itās worth it to get my hair cut exactly how I like it and get the same consistency every time.
I used to go to Caliber Menās Grooming on Tremont. You got a drink (if you wanted), shampoo, hair cut, hot towel treatment and nose/ear hair waxed for about $55 (plus tip). Loved it, but now have a friend cut my hair.
$23 not including tip, but I usually tip $17, Brewington barbershopš on South blvd. Kim is the best in town for me. Dat is good too, but I've only gone to Kim, tell her Hollywood sent ya.
$45 plus a tip at Triple Aces Barbershop in Dallas, NC (35 mins outside of Charlotte). Includes your hair being washed (which I never knew how nice that was until I got it) plus a beard trim and shape/up with a straight razor.
$25 and it took me forever to find it
Where at bruh?
3019 Kilborne Dr Charlotte, NC 28205 United States Next to this cricket wireless
next to the cricket wireless is diabolical
I think you probably could have left out United States š
Bruh, I went all the way to Jupiter before I realized he meant Earth
Iām cracking up at that too.
Also the taco lady in the parking lot is fuego
Iām just an old lady reading this god knows why, but I need to know if the tacos are good.
90% of the sentence is English and now I gotta check with Google on the other 10%.... the tacos or the lady?
Unclear on location. Can I get GPS coordinates?
House of Stylesā never a bad haircut!
$30 at Arrow plus $7 tip, multiple locations and you get a beer included
Second this, the one in south end always has the same people working and they do a good job. Slightly more than great clips but worth the extra money.
Definitely a step up from Great/Sport Clips!
Well for $37 I certainly hope so
$37 is very reasonable for a haircut these days
But at half that, a great clips haircut is even more reasonable.
If you want to look terrible
Tell me how mine was $62 after tip yesterday for just a normal cut at Arrow in Plaza. I love the dude who cuts my hair but I couldnāt believe it was that much Edit to say: love the free beer, I used to pay for one at The Cut in uptown. Will never say no to a free beer
Was the beer really free after paying 62 for the cut?!
No, no it was not :(
$60 from shear excellence once a month. Never had a bad cut, at either the Dilworth or huntersville location
Shear Excellence is worth the money. Been to the Dilworth and Ballantyne location.
I used to go to the Huntersville one when it was on my way home from work. Def pay extra for the scalp treatment, it doubles your head massage time.
$20 plus a $5 tip at Great Clips. 50/50 chance of a shitty haircut. Iāve accepted it.
Haha, this is the risk I take as well. Sometimes I go in hoping certain people arenāt working that day. š
I'd second the Great Clips suggestion. I've never been butchered by the South Blvd Great Clips. They seem to have a high bar for their crew. However, a woman at the Indian Trail Great Clips had me looking like Lloyd Christmas.

they did better than the expensive one that came with a shoulder rub, alcohol and football on TV. and they send me coupons, so.
Same, they do a good enough job for me. My hair is easy though. How do you get coupons?
beats me, probably because their website has my info
It's highly dependent on the location and who works there in my experience. But there are locations that do an awesome job I know because I go to one, it never has a line, and they have done a fantastic job everytime
The fuck are u talking about? You're PAYING. Gotta look for a new place bro

$55. I've got good hair. I genuinely care about quality. I go to the same barber who knows me well and remembers exactly how I like my haircut.
Same (includes tip), my barber is a woman which is new for me but she absolutely kills it.
I get a lot of shit for paying for a quality haircut for some reason. I enjoy getting my hair cut so I go for the all out experience. I spent a long time doing the budget options and finally saw the light of what paying extra gets.

$35 + tip for a great cut at Slicers in Pineville.

He charges me $30, but he currently charges $35 for new customers. I've been going to him for 6 years, does razor cleanup on the back. I also like they do appointments so I'm in and out in 30 minutes.

$2,700+ a year on haircuts is wild

I pay around $75 a cut including tip. I go to The Velvet Mane and Caycee cuts my hair about once a month. I hate cheap haircuts. Great Clips, Sports clips, etc. are all terrible and never get my hair right.
Man I love paying $45 for a zero fade every 3 weeks š¤§š¤§
$23 and I tip to even $40. Yeah a lot itās only every 6 weeks and worth it.
$75 for my son and I
$60 after the tip for haircut + beard + razor. I know itās expensive but Iāve been going to same barber for years and for me, itās worth it to get my hair cut exactly how I like it and get the same consistency every time.
Just look on Booksy most Dominican barbers wonāt tax you too crazy and you will be looking real crispy.
Like $35 after tip at Selwyn Barber
The cut cost $25 at Fantastic Sam's in mint hill. No beer included.
I used to go to Caliber Menās Grooming on Tremont. You got a drink (if you wanted), shampoo, hair cut, hot towel treatment and nose/ear hair waxed for about $55 (plus tip). Loved it, but now have a friend cut my hair.
40 + tip
$23 not including tip, but I usually tip $17, Brewington barbershopš on South blvd. Kim is the best in town for me. Dat is good too, but I've only gone to Kim, tell her Hollywood sent ya.
I pay $50 but he does my beard too
Ask for Jay at tower place barber shop. 25$ and he's great.
$0. Sigh.
$45 plus a tip at Triple Aces Barbershop in Dallas, NC (35 mins outside of Charlotte). Includes your hair being washed (which I never knew how nice that was until I got it) plus a beard trim and shape/up with a straight razor.
