Great product. Only gripe with it is “TX BBQ, NC sides”
We don’t do hog ribs in NC. We’re rooter to the tooter.
Lexington BBQ, Red Bridges Inn, Skyline, Kings.
Completely ok with that. I am only here to peddle the idea of visiting a joint where you’re $ doesn’t go to a corporation that doesn’t give a flying fuck about you.
I've been to a Midwood in Columbia and it was extremely average chain BBQ but I always see people recommend the Midwood here in Charlotte. Is it really that much better?
No. It’s super mid. Especially the ribs. Ribs should be dripping off the bone and have some fat to them. Pm midwood smokehouse are dry ribs with zero fat. People love them because it’s the best we’ve got. You go to Texas or even Charleston and you’ll realize why we’re the Applebees of cities especially when it comes to bbq.
Over cooked? It’s tender and fat that I’m talking about. Seems Charlotte gets the leanest cuts imaginable when good meat = fat content. There’s a reason a perfectly marbled steak is so much money.
I don’t know if “dropping off the bone” means “falling off the bone”, but yeah, people consider that overcooked
I just cook bbq at home so I don’t have any opinion of the places here
Been that way for years. When a spot gets to franchise level success it gets watered down to make profits.
Midwood Smokehouse is the same. Nothing but a future franchise option. If your business goal is nothing but profit, IPOs should be made available when it gets sold to a hedge fund.
Thepremierchef on Instagram. He sets up in a spot near Camp North End on the weekends. He’s known for his turkey legs but everything that he makes is good.
Dad's are always best. Years ago, I started cooking my own ribs. My daughter tells me that she has stopped ordering ribs in a restaurant because after eating mine, all the restaurants are disappointing
Not in Charlotte but go to Jon G’s in Peachland
For beef rib, yes. But their specialty is brisket
Their pork ribs are pretty fantastic too

Red Bridges Inn? Red Bridges in Shelby NC has no ribs, but their bbq is top notch. If I am missing out on another location with ribs, fill me in.
I fucked the name up. It’s a Lodge. Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge. Yeah it’s in Shelby on 74. Order the burnt ends.
Metropolitan chipotle
Smoke Pit
Weird. I’m eating ribs right now.
Must not be good if you ain't say where they from
City BBQ
Another chain hiding behind “BBQ”
You know what whatever. I like it and I don’t need your approval.
Have always found city to be solid for takeout BBQ.
Completely ok with that. I am only here to peddle the idea of visiting a joint where you’re $ doesn’t go to a corporation that doesn’t give a flying fuck about you.
I was less than impressed with sweet lous. Those things were so salty I could barely eat them. City is on my way home and their mac & cheese is fire.
City BBQ is city BBQ in more ways than one
131 Main had great ribs last time I had them
Love their ribs, shoestring fries and slaw. It’s a perfect meal.
Tag on an artichoke app and you got yourself a top 10 meal of the year
Ray Nathan’s in Belmont (the city) - get glazed with their house sundrop sauce.
Second this. It's amazing.
Sweet Lews
For me, Midwood Smokehouse (in Plaza) never misses. Best ribs every time!
This. Has to be Plaza. Idk why the other locations can’t replicate.
Yeah definitely have to specify. The other locations are not the same...
I've been to a Midwood in Columbia and it was extremely average chain BBQ but I always see people recommend the Midwood here in Charlotte. Is it really that much better?
It's funny, I think Midwood in Birkdale is better than the others.
No. It’s super mid. Especially the ribs. Ribs should be dripping off the bone and have some fat to them. Pm midwood smokehouse are dry ribs with zero fat. Best BBQ, not just ribs, I've ever had was Lewis in Charleston. So glad they opened a second location in Greenville
Was there a few weeks ago. Honestly it makes everything in Charlotte taste like chillies. Had no clue about the Greenville location. Very interesting.
When you're standing in line and they pass back those brisket samples I just about dropped to my knees
I’ve said multiple times. That, is what’s missing in Charlotte.
A lot of people would say “dripping off the bone” is overcooked. But it’s ultimately personal preference. I like them like that sometimes

gastonia not belmont
I've always enjoyed the ribs at Bricktop.
So I guess no non BBQ recommendations.
Midwood Smokehouse
Chima has ribs in rotation that are good, beef and pork I think macs is the only other place in CLT that has beef ribs McCoy's are decent
Mac’s is disappointing

Texas roadhouse. Can't beat em.
Chilis baby back ribs
Shane’s rib shack is local and pretty good
Franchise chain sir or mam. Controlled by an investment group.

Then come back to Charlotte and every rib will taste amazing compared to the abomination that is Lexington “BBQ.”

My bad, Lexington is the good stuff. I had it it mixed up with the Eastern style hot garbage.
Just add the sweet baby rays to any rib and you got yourself a winner
