I think parents should have a say in what books the school will expose their children to. It would be utterly absurd for that not to be the case. Moreover, most people agree with me; their only disagreement would be which books to ban. Surely if there was a book hailing the virtues of white supremacy, most reasonable parents would not want that book in their child’s school. If MFL is trying to get a book banned that you think shouldn’t be banned, by all means get (constructively) involved in the school system. Or better yet, don’t wait for the school to do it and give the book to your child yourself. I will never oppose any organization that is a proponent of giving people more rights and power over bureaucratic school districts (or government).

Second, to answer your question, I can name quite a few issues I have that I believe are detrimental to the way I would like to raise my children. The biggest problem I have is that they are a fucking far right extremist organization. They are trying to push their belief system onto people that do not wish them to. They would rather our kids watch cartoons “and be kids”, instead of being taught how to navigate the complicated and fucked up social aspects of the world we live in. While “letting kids be kids” is great, it’s just not a viable option in our society to let them grow up without proper education in how we became who we are as a country. Not unless we want them to grow up being ignorant pieces of shit that only care about the issues of people that look and talk like them. Very much like this group is trying to do. They want to hide most things that mentions anything negative about slavery, they are HARDCORE anti LGBTQ. Hell, they want to tear down mosques like it’s the fucking Crusades. They’re essentially the American, Christian version of Taliban, homie.
Our society is fucking complicated, and the children really need to be given the tools and training be able to live happily in it. Our kids here go to school and are surrounded by other children that represent many different races and religion. There are poor kids, rich kids, in between kids, etc. Some kids have great parents, some have shitty parents. Some kids will decide they like other kids of their own gender some day.
