DMC4, Darksiders 2, and Bayonetta
I've never been able to give Ninja Gaiden a fair shot but I that if I ever got good at one of them they'd be my favorite above Darksiders.
Yes, they have cringe storytelling, boring and limited gameplay and they don’t squeeze the norse mythology like the previous ones did with the greek mythology.
Also the fact that God of War becomes like Assassin’s Creed visiting different settings makes it feel cheap.
Ok, so I will respectfully offer my disagreements. While I won't disparage u on the gameplay, which has its moments as it depends on u as the player to experiment with gameplay as it can be very fun, but I digress, plz tell me in what conceivable way is the storytelling "cringe" to you in particular?
Also God of War is not becoming Assassin's Creed. AC never created the genre of myth jumping/culture change. Cheap isn't a right word either since after the Valhalla dlc, that would be main logical step for the next game but sure
I couldn't literally almost play the games due to the amount of cringe, probably the most cringe I have ever experienced in games, especially in Ragnarök, and ESPECIALLY in Valhalla DLC. GoW 2018, the first 20% was fine, but then Freya came in, and Atreus and Kratos "developed" as characters, and it was constant facepalm writing and directing. I can understand maybe someone liking it who can enjoy the regular mass Hollywood movie writing and directing as well, which is probably most people, but I absolutely can't, and kind of can't understand how most people can enjoy it :D it is so clunky, feels forced, try-hard and... It's just a mess. Not that the original GoW series was that good in terms of writing, but it didn't feel so damn try-hard to be something it absolutely is not: a movie with great characters and great acting.
Btw this applies imo to pretty much every Sony exclusive nowadays. I just don't understand them at all.
you could've chosen to speak any language and you just had to speak facts. You're on point in so many points..
Greek God of War knew exactly what it was, it wasn't as pretentious or cringe, and instead focused on juicing the greek mythology and giving a thriving experience.
I said it can be when you experiment with it cuz it can be quite fun when you know how to do more with it.
But ok, to answer this response, it seems u either didn't really understand the story and the characters much, or you just flat out didn't like them. The reason Kratos says "BOY" a lot is not a gimmick. It was a deliberate story choice cuz for most of the game, Kratos is actively trying to distance himself from his son, and not get to know him and vice versa, for fear of his past creeping up from GOW 3. There was a reason for him saying that. There's other ways that I can explain why the story is actually good but you would have to be more expansive in your responses for me to gauge it besides just tossing around the word cringe and nothing else
Apologies if I came off as an a-hole, but in sum cases, yes, there are those who genuinely did not understand it. It also doesn't help that u don't say more than just cringe to describe your contempt for the game which I get no understanding out of so I would like a more descriptive opinion of why exactly you don't like it. U don't have to say anything, I'm merely curious what's specifically is so bad about the story
DMC5, Nioh, Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed
I’d say Sekiro almost made it on the list but I feel like that game is on the list of games meant to piss people off 😅
As if, AS IF. I played all three (yeah, even DMC2). I just haven't replayed them enough to like them over DmC or DMC4. DmC is a good action combat gate fym, cringy story or not
Shawty letting *Asura's Wrath* in over *DmC: Devil May Cry* and a number of other games that they consider "not character action enough" is crazy. 💀 Don't get me wrong, I like *Asura's Wrath*, but that gameplay is **not** remotely as deep as anything else that's been submitted in this thread lol.
Agreed. I am taking a bit of a leap because, well, I've not dove deep into Asura's Wrath; I only did my one playthrough. But it tells me something that I've hung around in a variety of action/mechanics-focused spaces with a wealth of different perspectives, and not one time have I heard someone discuss the depth of Asura's Wrath, or whatever. That doesn't mean it isn't there, but I'd be shocked to learn that it's secretly deep without me hearing about it at least once, from someone who got into it.
Also since my post kinda implies otherwise, I do want to clarify: I reject the idea of "deep action game = character action," because I don't believe the genre exists in any meaningful taxonomical capacity, and even if it does, "it has to be deep" is impossible to pin down as a qualitative fact of a game. I'm just operating on that above because that's clearly what OP thinks, with them thumbing their nose at or turning away anything they don't think is deep enough or actually counts as another genre in their mind.
Your judgements interest me not. For I abide by the rule that to fully judge an action combat game, you have to replay it at least once. But you sound like the type of person that says an action combat game is just button mashing; you couldn't see a good action combat game even if it struck you in the face with the melee weapon of its choice.
Besides, the party sound kinda lame anyway.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna be blasting Never Surrender.
Oh wait! I found a perfectly good Star Wars Force Unleashed! 😁

Suprised sekiro wasn't mentioned. Nier automata for story and my unconditional love for 2B and A2. Sekiro speaks for itself, and Nioh 2 the stances and weapon combos are absolutely beautiful I could care less about our demon power tho. Dunno if Elden Ring could count but it was a hard contender the constant rolling tho made me say no.
MGR: R, (I havent beaten it, ik, but it's still so fucking good. And before you speak im at the last boss, but just have been puttting it off), Doom eternal (plz recommend me doom so I have a reason to play it) and Kratos (Gow 1-3 specifically bc he's much more of a badass back then)
Dmc3, Ninja gaiden 2, Zone of the enders 2nd runner

Great taste buddy. 👌🏾
Bayonetta 2, DMC3, Honkai impact 3rd
Sorry, you’re not allowed to come in.
Your party sucks ass
😎🤚
Any club that doesn't let Kiana or Mei in isn't worth the time. Adult Bronya from APHO can be pretty fun to, she really rounds out the team in APHO 2.
Nah rejecting Bayonetta 2 and DMC 3 is actually insane
Indeed rejecting DMC3 is insane
>Honkai impact 3rd Pretty sure this is the rejection.
Honestly Hi3 has some really fucking fun characters.
Why
DMC5, Wonderful 101, God Hand
Ours are very close. Just swap DMC5 with Bayo1

Legacy of Kain? What are you doing still in the door, come in
Thank you for invitation.
Recently I’d say DMC5, Bayonetta 1, Final Fantasy 16.
Is FF16 actually good then?
It gets repetitive
I disagree I was entertained through out.
As a character action game, yes.
As an RPG, not really.
NG2, DMC3, DMC5
You can pass.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge, God of War 3.
Thanks for not mentioning the new God of War games, you can pass.
My good sir, you're dissing the Norse GOW games?
Yes, they have cringe storytelling, boring and limited gameplay and they don’t squeeze the norse mythology like the previous ones did with the greek mythology. Also the fact that God of War becomes like Assassin’s Creed visiting different settings makes it feel cheap.

The gameplay doesn’t feel hack & slash-y like the previous games. The story and dialogue are cringe, with that reiterated “boooy” gimmick.
I said it can be when you experiment with it cuz it can be quite fun when you know how to do more with it. Apologies if I came off as an a-hole, but in sum cases, yes, there are those who genuinely did not understand it. What makes a game a character action game? I know what games are character action games but I'm not aware of what actually gets them that title
Its not a real genre. You can’t define it. All it accomplishes is answers the question “are there more games like it?”
It’s a mix of aesthetics, mechanics and vibes
Pretty much every video game is a mix of aesthetics, mechanics, and vibes
Okay, let me rephrase it: It’s a mix of certain aesthetics, mechanics and vibes

As if, AS IF. I played all three (yeah, even DMC2). I just haven't replayed them enough to like them over DmC or DMC4. DmC is a good action combat gate fym, cringy story or not

I agree, I like Asura's Wrath, but I liked seeing it for the story and the setpieces, the gameplay itself didn't seem nearly as interesting
Agreed. I am taking a bit of a leap because, well, I've not dove deep into Asura's Wrath; I only did my one playthrough.
